Title: Nicehash farming
Post by: Callah92 on April 25, 2017, 09:05:05 PM
Hello everyone. Ive been using Nicehash for farming for a year now and I must say im impressed by the value gained through the last year.

However im considering upgrading my farm here. Currently I have two computers running GTX 1060 and RX 480 4GB.

Three questions for the gurus out there! Is it possible to run the GTX 1060 in SLI mode with ANY version of the GTX 1060 out there or does it have to be the exact same card? If connected will Nicehash be able to detect both cards and run them individually or in SLI mode?

The RX 480 has a 6 pin contact on top which is not connected by default by the builders. Whats the possibility to add there?

Im considerin buying a computer with a motherboard that has 3 PCI-e slots for graphics cards where I consider buying 1080 GTX cards. Will Nicehash detect all three cards and be able to run them in Windows?

The best answer will receive a modest donation :) Thanks in advance!

You can mix/match GPU's without issue however SLI Mode or Crossfire for AMD shouldn't be enabled as its not needed for Mining.

It's a good thinking what are you trying to do , my best rigs are those without raisrs , for me raisrs are problems, when i think of building a 6 gpu rig ,i just build 2 rigs with 3 gpus each mounted to the 16x directly no raisrs , you can run 3 cards easily on windows , just need a good mobo to handle 3 1080s , nicehash and windows will detect them no worries , a good mobo and psu are important , 3gpus and 6gpus rigs fairly cost the same , but i have 2 pcs instead of 1 , my investment is separated and it's good when resell...

I have to disagree with the suggestion to install 3 GPUs on the mobo.
Most mobos don't have adequate spacing for cooling with 3 GPUs, and cooling is critical
for mining. Two on the mobo and the rest on powered risers connected to x1 slots.
And make sure you use a good PSU with lots of extra power, especially if you intend to overclock.
