Just think that some smaller charity organisation would me much easier to pull in that. Just googled for "bitcoin charity" and not found much posibilities. There's some site at "bitcoinsforcharity.org" but found no reason to trust it.

Bumping a bit late, but I setup something you may find more trustworthy here:

http://www.bitcoin-charity.com/

All donations are public record and as soon as anything is converted to USD there will be transaction records for that, too.

I agree charities are not taking advantage of bitcoin enough. I run Yestobitcoins and since I have already the infrastructure, I decided to add donations to the Canadian Red Cross (http://yestobitcoins.com/canadian-red-cross/ (http://yestobitcoins.com/canadian-red-cross/)) and Unicef (http://yestobitcoins.com/unicef-canada (http://yestobitcoins.com/unicef-canada)/).

This services (converting the Bitcoin donation into dollars and submitting them UNICEF Canada or the Canadian Red Cross) is my contribution to society  :)

Yea but Red Cross has a good management about money and everything.
And if they received btc as donations ,they will exchange that to $ for sure.
They will not keep that till price is high or other purpose.

Because of the usual reason: They are too computer illiterate to run Bitcoin.

I don't know if we can jump to that conclusion.  A lot of their donations will be for tax write offs.  With using bitcoin i think there is a lot of upfront work they would have to do.

Do i think they would be smart to use bitcoin yes.  Hopefully in the future we see them and many others adopt bitcoin.

The Red Cross may be doing something with Bitcoin. From CNN:
"A new bitcoin wallet is collecting donations for the Philippine Red Cross. ... Canadian startup Coinkite, a Bitcoin banking service, is also collecting Bitcoin donations for the Canadian Red Cross for Philippine typhoon victims."

I guess it is just inertia.
As long as some young employee raises it at Red Cross, it will think of accepting bitcoins.

My company gave to Red Cross because it's a Tax write off. ^Grin^
Doing this with Bitcoins would be easier, but it would be an accounting nightmare and our local TAX office will have, the ussual FDU moment, when we file the returns.

It would be a good thing for individuals, who want to donate small amounts. ^Smile^

Well Wikipedia didn't accept bitcoin donations at first, but eventually they changed their minds.
Yup those charities are slow and hesitated, but they will embrace bitcoin eventually (I hope so). :)
