Title: Smoothie Public Diary (Unmoderated)
Post by: smoothie on April 27, 2013, 09:55:24 PM
Day 1 -

(Ponders)

Should I pay 50 BTC to go to an elitist meetup halfway across the world?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=174620.msg1962101#msg1962101

OR

Should I pay 2 BTC and travel 1/10th the distance and meet with many of the bitcoin core developers and bitcoin business owners?
http://www.bitcoin2013.com/

I think the answer is obvious.  ::)

I do not understand that meeting in Finland.

I think I do not understand it because I didn't read  the full post about it.

But I am ignorant and do not want to be an early adopter in something I have to pay.

Based upon what reptilia has been saying it is TOP SECRET. But given his public diary accounting I'm not sure there will be anything of substance gained from the meeting other than...

"We are the wealthy bitcoin elite. How should we proceed to make our stashes of bitcoins even bigger and stomp on all the bitcoin peasants?"

And something for the big guys with big money and many 000 of BTC:

"You paid milions for bitcoins in your wallet. We generated them with old computers. Go and whine."

Add to that list "they have more bitcoins than you".

0 generated. 0 bought because of the joy of tech innovation. I admire more one that buys 1 BTC because want's to play with it, explore, than a speculator with thousands.

repost sorry:

Here is the thing, I could easily afford 50BTC to go to this conference or meetup or secret meeting, but I don't wish to because of the following reasons:

1. I'm not better than anyone and any meeting in which the tone is set for that by limiting entrants and making only for the "wealthy" is an elitist form of mockery of the poor.

2. Having a public agenda for a bitcoin meeting or conference makes sense. Then people can decide if the topics to be discussed or events/activities are suitable for their interests/needs/wants. Going blindly is stupid.

3. Based on reptilia's recent actions with his 13 BTC does not give me any more confidence that his running a meetup or conference might not net more fails.

4. 50 BTC is more productive being given to businesses for products or development, not fancy hotel accommodations.

Hey smoothie

Let's make our own movement with people that own 1 to 10000 BTC.

And what incident with 13 BTC?

He sent 13 BTC to nkspace to prove he had bitcoins (moreso that he had TONS of them)...just to have nkspace run off with his bitcoins.

It was a classic fail on this forum.

Haha wow, I had a similar discussion with him but I kind of 'lost it' when he didn't know how to sign a message with his wallet.

On a more serious note, both seem to be healthy for bitcoin. Not sure why you have it out for rpietila so bad.

To have a large stash of bitcoins doesn't require a bitcoin meetup.

Nor does doing math equations to determine your "spending limits" as reptilia keeps posting about.

This meetup he is organizing has really no purpose than the following:

1. To take your bitcoins.

2. To waste your fucking time.

Thinking about joining, if only for the possibility of meeting rich people to share my vision with. :)

Yeah. That's the way to think, brother. You can't lose much, but there is a wealth of information to be gained.

Small things change the lives of people. I managed to hear about Bitcoin many years ago...

...and see where I am now...

...but would not be, were it not for the #2 ticket holder.

So essentially the whole goal is to meet rich people and pay for that to happen.

Wow just wow. Wisdom doesn't take money.

Much wisdom in this world is FREE if you just know where to look and who to listen to.

So where does his elitism come from?

Perhaps from all those people paid attention to and scrutinized whatever he said?  ::)

Read again, I was saying you maybe just confirming his perception about himself by making a big deal out of whatever he said. Why give a damn when the speculation subforum is already full of self-important trolls? Didn't we just see a noob who claimed to have"two doctorates, one master" or some shit like that?

Well, the point here is it was out of place. I even think he is out of place as a whole in this forum but everybody is different, so maybe he finds somebody who shares his interests...

But regardless: his "diary" belongs to off-topic. And his "Supernode Summit" belongs to either project development or meetups, depending on what he is trying to accomplish (whatever that is).
The other random posts in the wall observer thread and everywhere else do not belong there either, and I would certainly never have bothered him in any way if he did keep things where they belong.
