Title: Would I be able to run two diff GPUs? Post by: squatz1 on April 30, 2017, 09:19:43 PM I'm going to start mining on the service known as Nicehash and wanted to know if it's possible for me to run two different GPU's on my motherboard, at the moment I have a GTX 1080 but wanted to know if it'd be possible for me to run something like an RX480 or something along those lines on the same motherboard.
I think my motherboard has the capacity to do it but I wanted to know if my computer would be able to see I have two different GPU's running and be able to recognize it. Thanks for the help. You would also have to check if you have another big PCIe port, but most mobos do nowadays. I hope you don't expect to turn a profit mining with a 3rd party and mining with a GPU. Yeah I think I do have this and I also do think that it would fit fine in my computer at the moment, might be a little snug but it probably would be profitable. And, I would think I'd be turning a profit as I am right now as I'd be mining altcoins on Nicehash which is pretty profitable for me at the moment -- I would say it's a nice passive income for my computer which idles. And yes it should be possible to have two graph cards running at the same time, but it is going to be a bit of a hassle, and i'm not sure if your hash would greatly improve, and it will suck up a load of extra voltage. Post by: vm1990 on May 05, 2017, 07:49:50 PM its quite possible to do but you will either need a dummy plug or a 2nd monitor so youd have each screen connected up, the drivers will be a bit of a problem (usually are when installing Nvidia and AMD in the same system but aslong as you have the room and about 800watt PSU you should be more than capable of doing it

It tends to be less stable than "pure" rigs, but it DOES work - and setting up mixed setups is the one place Windows (7 and 10 anyway) does a much better job than LINUX. Post by: Elder III on May 07, 2017, 02:18:14 AM Unless you already own the second GPU, is there a reason to not buy an equivalent NVIDIA GPU for your second one? A GTX 1060 would be in a similar price range and does well in all of the algorithms that your 1080 would be mining.
