Title: Are Miners or others stealing our bitcoin?
Post by: qiwoman2 on May 04, 2017, 03:35:07 PM
I sent some Bitcoin to my Payza account and payza said they received the transaction and waiting for it to confirm. It was sitting unconfirmed in my Payza account and in my blockchain dot info address for over 24 hours. I logged in this afternoon and found that the transaciton has totlaly disappeared from my blockchain account and it is is showing this:

https://blockchain.info/tx/50bf070386b69f24812744f0ac333c45666afc65fe6559b44915836b7401a874

The funds are not in my payza as it is still showing pending and nothing is showing in blockchain dot info at all.
It says was rejected and pruned so who has my bitcoin? Where has it gone?

https://blockchain.info/tx/50bf070386b69f24812744f0ac333c45666afc65fe6559b44915836b7401a874
Are pools stealing our money?  :'(

No they don't steal your money, i think if blockchain says it is rejected, it will automatically go back to the wallet that you are using and you can resend your transaction but don't forget to put a fair amount of fees in order to complete the transaction because sometimes the fee is the always concern for the scenarios like that.

I've gotten the same message a couple times recently. Assuming it's the same cause here's what seems to be happening, at least in my case:

1. You went stingy with the transaction fee. So the TX goes to the nodes and sits in the mempool, but the miners are prioritizing other TX over it. It sits unconfirmed a couple days.
2. Eventually Blockchain drops it and gives you that message.
3. But your wallet keeps pushing the TX and it is still in a mempool somewhere. The wallet keeps treating it as spent at this point.
4. Eventually it does get confirmed, and shows up again on Blockchain. This is the point you need to get to. :-)

I'm not familiar with Payza, but you can look into whether they have Replace by Fee or whatever it is called, or the Child pays for Parent capability to push through the TX. You can also try the Via BTC accelerator if the TX was high enough for their service. That's saved me a couple times. Otherwise, I'd say wait and see if it confirms over the weekend.

I always use advance fee and actually always add even extra than they recommend. So this is very strange and it hasn't returned to my account.. the  funds are missing..  :'(

have that experience before. my balance back to my wallet and the exchanger that i deposited my balance need some time before they said that my deposit is cancelled. i think it is normally for now because it all depends from block and how much fees that we spend

the fee was lower that it should have been so it didn't get confirmed, and then it dropped out of mempool. you can however rebroadcast the tx if you want.

this is your transaction:
Code:

p.s. the funds are not missing, your wallet is not synced yet.

I'm sorry to hear it then... are you sure your fee/byte is in the range recommended for rapid confirmation (cf. https://bitcoinfees.21.co/)?

Miners can't actually steal your bitcoin, so rest assured about that. Worst they can do is just fail to process it, leaving it languishing like this. My understanding is eventually wallets give up and show your balance properly again, though I've never actually reached that point.

Thank you for the explanation as I am not a techy, but now can I make sure this doesn't happen again? I always pay advanced fees? Can you fix it for me as I have no clue what to do lol..Do you need me to pm any other info to you or this is sufficient?

Which wallet you are using? I suggest you to use electrum desktop wallet so that you can set enough fees to not face this problem again.

I have rebroadcasted it using hex encoded bitcoin transaction provided by brewmaster

Here is your transaction https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/50bf070386b69f24812744f0ac333c45666afc65fe6559b44915836b7401a874

NO, all i (or anybody else) can do is to broadcast your transaction again. and nobody needs any information in addition to what already is public aka that hex that i posted in the code tags.

i didn't rebroadcast it because i thought you may want to do something else with the funds.
if you want the transaction in OP to be confirmed then copy that tx and paste it in https://blockchain.info/pushtx and click submit.
then wait for it to confirm.

you can also use https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ to accelerate your transaction if it is stuck for a long time. copy the transaction hash there meaning:
50bf070386b69f24812744f0ac333c45666afc65fe6559b44915836b7401a874

edit:
your transaction won't confirm not because of low fee but because you are spending an unconfirmed output and that has a low fee and also dropped out of mempool!

what you did wrong was spending what was not yet confirmed (tx starting with b3d86....) and that tx had a very small fee (28 s/b).
your transaction (tx starting with 50bf...) also had a small fee (150 s/b) so both were dropped out of mempool (it is the pool of memory that nodes have and keep transactions there, drop out of it means nodes forgot about it)

i got the rawTx for the first transaction (b3d86...) pushed it.
then i got the rawTx for second transaction (b3d86...) and pushed that too.
(got rawTx from smartbit and pushed using blockchain.info)

now they are both in mempool.

read this for detailed explanation of you can do: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1802212.0

for now keep trying ViaBTC, that tool is only accepting 100 tx per hour and there are thousands of users trying it so it is obvious that their submission is filled fast.

you can also contact Quickseller (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=358020) and ask for help, it may require additional fee.

I have another problem now..before the transaction got rebroadcast my blockchain balance was:

0.11349027 BTC

$179.31

now it's showing only: 0.00969027 BTC
$15.40

what is happening in my wallet?

I am so confused now have no idea what to do anymore, am pulling my hair out..

so it has been rebroadcast but is taking my newest money out meaning 0.3 is still missing?

These are my last transactions before the rebroadcast one:

https://blockchain.info/tx/b3d861925c0ef93e8e01500cea311ca313d57112d373266fd741b75c4c973df3

https://blockchain.info/tx/95c8e2259ac9e0ad053ca00535fa4930da91a1771ec2ff5deb9dae79d62fd1de

I have sent a pm to Quickseller, maybe he can sort it..Thanks for all your kind help anyway, it's much appreciated..I think I need a good night's sleep and hope it sorts itself out..

The bitcoins that you received in your address (https://blockchain.info/tx/b3d861925c0ef93e8e01500cea311ca313d57112d373266fd741b75c4c973df3) aren't confirmed yet it has a 28sat/b fee that's what keeping your payza transaction unconfirmed for now. The only thing you could do is wait every XX:59 utc then go to viabtc to accelerate that tx.

Same thing happened to me before when I gave a loan to bpb the withdrawal that I made from a casino had a small fee of 20sat/b which caused my tx to get rejected. I had no choice at that time but to wait the tx to get confirmed and it took a day or two.

Edit :
snip
That's just normal as long as you see the two unconfirmed transactions in your wallet I think you're money is fine. You had 0.11 earlier maybe because of the transaction you made with payza and the 0.19 you received got rejected but looks like brew pushed it for you.

I think you just wait it because payza is legit and no previous history of stealing. I think it just network confirmation problem or fee problem but if it is well be back to your account...

I woke up and the transactions are still unconfirmed. I hope they don't do the same thing and reject these and they both disappear again. I really want this issue resolved. It's horrible that we can't cancel a transaction. I hope BTC sorts out it's scaling problem or I will try to move to using another digital currency.

they will be rejected (most probably) in about 60 hours because your transaction as they already told you is spending an unconfirmed output which has an extremely low fee of 20 satoshi/byte and your transaction doesn't have enough fee to even be considered a CPFP transaction.

and actually it is a good thing that you CAN NOT CANCEL a transaction (easily). otherwise double spending would have been super easy and that opens up way for a lot of fraud. or at the very least newbies unknowingly double spending and messing things up.

and feel free to go and try other cryptocurrencies too. there are always going to be rules to follow and advantages and disadvantages of using any system.

and did you even contact Quickseller and ask for help? he can push your transaction directly to F2Pool and you may need to pay the fee to F2Pool only.

You should drop your web-based wallet {PayZa} for a hardware wallet and start using https://blockexplorer.com/ to track your transactions. Blockchain.info's block explorer has been a bit slow lately. ^hmmmm^ Did you chose the miners fee or does PayZa offer you a feature to configure it on your own?

These wallet providers are part of the problem. They should never have allowed you, to pay that little for miners fees under these conditions. ^grrrrrr^

they can't steal anything, miners just confirm your transaction by including them in the block they mine, your fee like many other are below the average and thus making them delayed

you need to put higher fee next tiem if you watn a faster confirmations, you can also use other wallet which require less confirmations to have your funds there faster, i don't know about payza but i suspect they require 6

Payza is not a web wallet in a sense that you think (not like coinbase for example) it is more like Paypal with option to buy bitcoin from them. or PerfectMoney for that matter. and it is mainly a fiat-web-wallet that you can send and receive fiat payments from.

Are pools stealing our money?  :'(

Nope. They aren't able to steal your money but they can certainly "steal" your confirmation times on your transactions. If you don't want that to happen to you again then simply pay a higher transaction fee for the miners next time you send a bitcoin payment to someone. It's like a dollar now but used to be cheaper, still it's pretty cheap when comapred to some e-currencies charging you a percentage of each transaction.

If you have trouble with confirmation times, try viabtc's transaction accelerator as well. It's a great tool, and it's free.

Nope...

They provide a service to confirm your transaction basically and if you don't pay them enough to do it they are probably reluctant to do that. Bitcoin is based on miners doing their job and nobody is gonig to do a job especially with mining when it is electricity-intensive as well as having to hire multiple people to maintain the rigs if you are running a big operation if you don't pay them anything in return.

But I do agree that miner fees are getting out of hand, right now I have to pay around 0.75 USD just to get an average sized transaction sent... Pretty crazy when compared to before i only needed to pay under 10 cents.

Small transaction fee is biggest problem when price rising..You must predict price fluctuations and increase fee or you will wait more that one day. Miners are also victims. Currently i'm waiting 2 days for one transaction..and i'm almost used to.

Just don't be too greedy and include the recommended fee.

A few cents is not worth the frustration of waiting for hours or even days imo.

I always pay even over the advanced recommended fee..I accidentally spent what wasn't confirmed, so got an ingoing and outgoing transaction still unconfirmed..I sent message to Quickseller but unfortunately had as of yet no reply, so looks like either my btc will be lost again from the blockchain or I might be lucky to get it pushed through.. so far no luck, feeling a bit despondent now.

hm. It is very weird. why dont you wait for a couple of days and see what happen to your coin. I believe that they will soon return too the address which was used to send the amount of Bitcoin

I don't know what is happening but many people have the same issues these days, including me. Yesterday I sent the funds as usual with recommended fee, it's been 24 hours now and stll nothing. And the number of unconfirmed transactions on blockchain is huge. Hope the coins are not lost or stolen but there is not much we can do I'm afraid.

Which wallet you are using? I suggest you to use electrum desktop wallet so that you can set enough fees to not face this problem again.

I have rebroadcasted it using hex encoded bitcoin transaction provided by brewmaster

Here is your transaction https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/50bf070386b69f24812744f0ac333c45666afc65fe6559b44915836b7401a874

cab you do the same for me please bro?

I have 2 that are stuck for going on 6 days

You can always check the transaction again, it may not have pulled through and would require follow up. Miners would not have anything to do with it.

I once had a similar problem. The funds on account returned after 5 days. Moments, you wait ...
