Wow.. so much information is given! TY OP!! ;)

Just kidding. You have to tell us what kind of hardware you have and what hardware you might plan to invest in. How many GPUS are you planning to run?

Your Specs are important. You can mine with your PC.If you're expecting to mine high valued coins, regardless of your configuration, you can't.Perhaps you can use a a mining library based on node.js to mine small time coins.I'm not specifically advising you to,but if you just want to give it a shot.At the end of the day,it isn't worth it.

What do you mean by that? GPU mining is very profitable and can mine several higher valued coins such as monero, dash, eth and zcash.

Maybe a option to rent out your GPU at nicehash (https://www.nicehash.com/) and use the calculator (https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=calc) to check out if you could be profitable.

i advice you not to try mining with GPU , even ur PC come with high specification including good high quality cards the profit return is not good at all .

in the pools there are coins there and the links that you may be downloads and the corresponding command for it. you may also research for the value of a certain coin and then convert it to bitcoin , in that case  you will be able to know which coin will you prefer to mine.

Using your GPU on your personal computer only screws up your 3d card rapidly. Then you better use a CPU miner, but scale it down, otherwise all your cores will slow your computer a lot.

With home pc with one gpu even if it is 1080ti, my opinion don't mine with it , you will make some little bucks a day and after electricity it won't be anything and you can't use your card for games while mining so.....not profitable

If you already have the machine, and it has a reasonably current GPU like an NVidia 9xx or 10xx series or a fairly recent AMD GPU like any of the R9 series/Fury/RX series, there is no reason NOT to mine on the machine part-time to make a few extra $ a month (or $$ in some cases) - as long as your electric cost insanely high like in most of California or Hawaii, etc.

This is plain wrong. Apparently you have no clue how good 1080 ti is for mining. When mining Zcash it will consume a maximum power of 150 watt and it will make about 168 USD a month(now with price of Zcash going down about 135  USD) mining it based on the miningspeed.com (http://miningspeed.com) website.

You can get one 1080 ti used for about 500 USD (they are very rare as 1080 ti is a beast at gaming and is rarely been sold but if you search you can find one) and will get your money back for 4 months. After that everything is profit.

At an energy cost of 0.10 USD kwatt are done the calculations above.

just try minergate. you can mine and can select alt coin using your cpu. I already using minergate my hardware is core i3 cpu and using free electricity because it is my company computer. they don't know about it.hehe. I mine just for fun because I know it is not profitable enough. may be soon e try gpu mining.

I must say I am surprised of you comments. GPU mining is alive and thriving so I cant for my life understand why some say you should not GPU mine, and perhaps try CPU mining via minergate. Thats the worst advice I´ve heard.

There are ALOT of people building GPU rigs with either newer hardware (AMD RX 470/480 and/or older HW like R9 280x/7950/7970/7990.)

And of course electricity price have impact but I pay about 0.07 usd/Kwh, rig is 2 7990s and one r9 280. Pulls just under 900w so price is lower than 1,68 USD/day and profit is around 10 USD/day.

So even if my electricity price was doubled or more I´d make profit.

you can mine lbry or zcash if you have a good gpu like 1070 or 1080, if you have amd gpu like rx 480 you can mine ethereum+ sia or pascal

yeah it's very profitable even with 0.2 electricity there is huge profit in crypto now wiht gpu mining, asic too is not bad if you have baikal or L3 for scrypt mining
