Title: Balance 0 -> 0/unconfirmed, in memory pool
Post by: weldonkinton on May 09, 2017, 09:16:26 AM
Hello guys

I transferred funds from the local wallet (bitcoin core) to the mobile wallet (jaxx), the funds are in the state "0/unconfirmed, in memory pool" for several days,

and the balance in local wallet (bitcoin) is at zero and in jaxx I haven't received anything  :'(

I've read that in these cases i should use -zapwallettxes command, but I'm afraid of what I do...

Is it possible to recover the funds?

thanx, bye

Can you provide us txid so we can take a look at it?
That is needed if you want assistance since we cannot see example the fee if we do not have the txid.

1 satoshi/byte fee, it will be most probably dropped so you will have to resend.
Current cheapeast and fastest fee is 200 satoshis/byte so you sent the tx with 200x less fees than you should have.

well you must wait until the transaction gets dropped by nodes, which can take up to 3 days.
Which wallet are you using, and did you somehow edit the fee amount?

minimum recommended fee with bitcoin core wallet 0.14

minimum recommended fee with bitcoin core wallet 0.14

There is something wrong with your wallet then, i recommend checking the fee always before sending.
Also if you download electrum, it has dynamic fees so i would recommend that client if you are not so good with the Core.
Also you will not have to store the whole blockchain since the electrum nodes do that for you.

i reinstalled bitcoin after years, i recovered funds from an old hard drive and I just pasted the wallet.dat file into bitcoin 0.14 and then sent everything to jaxx :'(

nothing can do much about it now, we can't even push your transaction using viabtc because of the low fee. you just have to wait now until the confirmation got dropped from the network and the coins will be sent back to your sending address, once it happen you just need to spend it again but with much higher fees like 200satoshi per KB

FYI, You will need to either use the -zapwallettxes command to get the transaction to drop out of the mempool, otherwise Core will continue to rebroadcast your transaction periodically if you don't do this.

Your other option is to shut Core down for a few days and don't use... but the problem is that while that will cause it to drop from the mempool, as soon as you re-open the wallet, it is likely to rebroadcast it...

Make backups of your wallet.dat (just in case) and then use the -zapwallettxes command
