Title: Segregated witness question
Post by: Peter789 on May 09, 2017, 09:09:17 PM
We are all concerned about the btc dispute.
I read that the Segregated witness had a host of other improvements to protocol.

Could anyone please tell me what other improvements these are?

Thanks

One I learned about the other day:  256 bit Bitcoin addresses in addition to the 160 bit addresses we have today.

You can about the reasoning here:

The actual details of the proposal are better found in BIP 173:

Another good link to read up on what SegWit will bring to the network is this one: https://bitcoincore.org/en/2016/01/26/segwit-benefits/

Ok well some of that went straight above my head. However, i got some good points.

I read that a compromise is in the air....what is that?

Could somebody please post a link?
