Title: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Post by: Plainkoin on May 10, 2017, 12:51:03 PM Hello,
I need to be able to run miners at a high hash rate but be very quiet, nearly stealthy. I was looking at the R4, but the low hash rate for the cost is bothersome. I want a couple of R9s, but I expect they will be as loud and hot as the two R7s I am running. Is there another brand or Ant model that can be very quiet and have the hashing capacity of the R9s? Thank you. Happy hashing to you. :) Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Post by: SA Bitcoin Brothers on May 10, 2017, 12:58:06 PM R9s?? Do you mean S9s? They are very loud, about the same or more than S7s. The same with T9s. Stealth and BTC mining is non existent

Other miner models: you need to be able to underclock it to achieve lower noise level. And yeah, there are no R9's or R7's, you must be talking about Antminer S9 and Antminer S7. edit: Oh yeah whoops, S7-LN is a silent miner as well, of course. Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? For home, the S9 will not be a problem. I was hoping to take one to work. But as TH levels continue to skyrocket, I am not sure the R4 would even be worth it. Looks like the S9 is where I am heading. Thank you all. :) Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Post by: SA Bitcoin Brothers on May 10, 2017, 04:55:53 PM Yeah... Alphabet soup. S9 was intended. Best lil' miner since the S3. Great heater Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Post by: NotFuzzyWarm on May 11, 2017, 12:21:25 AM Yeah... Alphabet soup. S9 was intended. Also only pull around 750-950w depending on how you set them up, db level is commensurate with speed/power. Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Wonder how it'll be in terms of noise in an S3 chassis. Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Post by: SA Bitcoin Brothers on May 11, 2017, 06:21:06 AM Yeah... Alphabet soup. S9 was intended. Title: Re: The quietest SHA-256 miner? Post by: hugs1BTC on May 14, 2017, 07:14:48 AM I want to use my new 1070 Nvidia to calculate sha256 hash. This is good idea?? Thanks No, it's a waste of time and money. To mine SHA256 (also X11 and others) you need ASIC, significant better hashrate/consumption rate |
