open up command prompt on your computer and navigate to your extraced cudaminer dir.

type: cudaminer.exe -o http://POOLIP:POOLPORT -u WORKERUSER -p WORKERPASS

Nvidia GPU's make poor miners. Don't expect very high hash rates.

Well, i know it's pretty much worthless for Bitcoin and Litecoin but also for Feathercoin? Any idea what i can expect with this setup?

I get almost 2x the hash power off NVidia with cudaMiner than by using cgminer. While it still doesn't compare to an ATI card, at least you will get a few cents more than the electricity you are eating up.

Make a batch file (.bat) point it to a pool you already signed up at, like this:


To make a batch file, put the above code in a text file, change the parameters to match your pool and username/pw, save as or rename it to poolname.bat. Make sure it is in the same directory as the cudaminer.exe for easiest setup, you can always make a shortcut to the .bat file to your desktop if you want. Also, if you are new to batch files, you may need to go into your computer folder options and uncheck the option to hide extensions of well-known file type, or else your file will remain text.

What does username.1 means? I put my username there and then add .1?

It's the username of the worker of your pool, worker one is generally your username with a .1 behind it, two .2, etc.

Yeah, a lot of pools will have your workers in a username.x format, most often with a default of .1 to get you up and running right away.

For example, if you make an account with a username Joe your first default worker name will usually be Joe.1  with a password of either .1, x or even blank. You will need to check your workers tab in the pool you choose to make sure. Most of them have a getting started or help section giving the basic steps.

Yep, that pool uses x for the passwords. So the only thing you need to change is username to your actual username for that pool.

Hijacking this thread here, I have a problem. It says it can't connect with cudaminer, this is my bat :

Yep, it may take a few minutes, but you should eventually see your worker with some hash/sec numbers. It might take awhile to actually get paid anything.

114kH/s? Even a really cheap AMD 7750 can do more (with way less power consumption).

NVIDIA rocks at gaming but sucks at mining.

You could also try to improve your hashrate a bit more. Try this bat file, maybe make a new on incase it doesn't work.

My admin in the mining pool site says 91khash while the miner says 160. Why the difference?

Give it another 10 minutes, they should get close though they will never match 100%.

Cheap Sapphires are the best for mining Feathercoins/Litecoins.

I run mine undervolted and get 720kH/s.

I like the Gigabyte ones here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125413 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125413) when they are in stock. I get a solid 750 khash/sec and the three fans seem to help with temps. Some people do not like them because they are voltage locked, but I have had good results running them stock voltage and OC'd to 1065 core 1500 memory.

I bet they sell a lot of them lately.

My Sapphire runs undervolted to 1.02V at 1003 core and way under 1300 memory and I get 720kH/s. Saves me lots of power and makes it easy to cool.

Yeah, they are sold out all the time. Most of the cheaper 7970's are.

Could always go with a 7950 too, slightly lower hashrate, but they are a bit cheaper. I also think they draw a few less watts, but not sure how the hash/electrical consumptions works out on those. Myself, I think over the longer-term you come out better with the 7970's, although plenty of people do swear by the 7950's. Best to do more research and go with what you feel works best for you.

Can you link the exact model, since Gigabyte seem perpetually sold out, maybe I will give one of those a try. Do you know your power draw on those since you undervolt? I have a box that has three 7970's and when I use a kill-a-watt it pulls 400 from the wall for one, 700 for two, and 1020 for three. It works out to roughly 300 watts per card with the remaining 100 watts for the system.

Step 1: Do not bother.

The cheapest one. No OC, no GHz-Edition, no Vapor-X, no nothing, because some of those only do 550kH/s even when overclocked like hell.


For a system with 3x7970 it pulls 625 Watt from the wall (in total!).

I doubt AMD's stock will be affected by a bunch of crypto coin mining junkies. :) Although, their stock is up 23% this year so far. Coincidence? Who knows.
