Title: Litecoin 0 fee transaction
Post by: coin.trader on May 11, 2017, 06:20:36 AM
Hey,

I am a little nervous, I paid in advance for this transaction: https://live.blockcypher.com/ltc/tx/4c642df217d0eab037053f066019115c4891af8cdee0dcf05de841044458bbb8/ but I lately saw that there are 0 fees.

This kind of transactions are getting mined in ltc network?

Thanks

It will be mined, but as a low priority transaction.
If no miners want to mine, the coins will return to your wallet.

very interesting!
it has been 9 hours since blockcypher node received your transaction and it seems like litecoin miners are not willing to mine 0 fee transactions despite litecoin blocks being mostly empty!
and since litecoin has 4 times more blocks than bitcoin, that means about 200 blocks have been mined and they all ignored your transaction.

and the worst part is that your output which you are spending is old too! it has 634,843 confirmations. so technically, since litecoin is a copy of bitcoin, it should be free!
from bitcoin:
priority = sum(input_value_in_base_units * input_age)/size_in_bytes

it is the same as bitcoin, so the answer is also the same: the chances are low for this transaction to be mined. but probably a little higher than a 0 fee bitcoin transaction to be mined.

things you can do are also the same:
1. wait until it confirms
2. wait until it drops out of mempool and sent it again with higher fee.
3. double spend it now if you know how and include a higher fee (some wallets won't let you do it in a user friendly manner, you may need to use console)
4. ask a miner to mine your transaction. i know Quickseller (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=358020) has the ability to push bitcoin transactions to F2Pool, and since F2Pool also mines litecoin he may still be able to help you but you have to ask him that.
5. more info about bitcoin that may fit your situation: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1802212.0

Don't trust everything you read on the net,
Litecoin is a market and miners want to grab some extra money from the fee. Always include a fee on a transaction, whatever the coin.
The best you can do is to wait for the tx to return to your wallet, or to be mined. Don't worry, your coins aren't lost or stuck forever.
