This is only a common cycle and you do get it man. Alts comes cheaper because most holders of it do sell off to buy bitcoin seeing on the current price it do still climbing up and seems like it wont like to stop :)
But still wont matter at all because alts become cheap and thats the right time to buy again.Be wise and for sure profits would really flow into your hands.

The basic reason for this is because of BTC being the reserve currency of the crypto world. The average person has to get btc to buy alts. Unless there surges a significant alt/fiat market, they are bound to go down in btc value when btc goes up in dollar value. The same goes the other way, if btc goes up alts go up in dollar terms for a while but it is because of the markets still not reacting to that surge and thua preserving the same btc value for a while. After the markets realize btc is up, most alts go down to maintain the previous dollar value.

it is actually not like that at all.
i think it is safe to say that altcoins are moving up and down unrelated to bitcoin. the fact that they are going down is only because they have been pumped and whenever price enters a bubble phase and worst of all enters a bubble with fake pump, that price has to come down. and now is the time for them to come down.

this time is coinciding with bitcoin price rise too. and that is only because they started the pumping campaign when bitcoin price started dropping in a correction move followed by some panic selling and followed by some FUD to shake out weak hands.

Normally traders sell alt to get btc, but in this moment (last 3-4 month) I can see that many altcoins stay steady when btc up. And this is really really really interesting!!!! BTCBTCBTC

I think Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero are all being used as stores of value. There is definitely at least somewhat of an inverse correlation between altcoin prices and Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero prices.

Not really that shows only 2 things:
1) Bitcoin miners are too dump to backup good scaling solution in reality 100% of problems is politics
2) Bitcoin is big and can't move 10x in 2months like alts, so must speculative short therem capital goes to alts to makes much more gains that are avaible in BTC

Btc is safe heaven in crypto other coins are in 99% pure speculation at future use case.
Only ETH is used to funding ICOs but in reality such stuff was available before was named colored coins.
Now colored coins are crypto tokes.
To be hones i don't see heavy usage of ETH network and all is runned on chain as they want.

Yeah when the altcoins price go down thats a good and right time for the investors to invest in altcoins so you can buy altcoins in a low price and buy a big volume of it and thats mean also a big cashback in your investments.

The others have said that altcoin prices are down when bitcoin is up because bitcoin increases in dollar value so many sell their altcoins, it is the most common reason but sometimes it is not the real reason for a dump during bitcoin price's upward movement. Even if bitcoin is pumped, there will be certain altcoins that are pumped too but the majority are dumped probably because some certain altcoins are being speculated as well at the time bitcoin is pumped while the others are just ending their current hype they had and it is just showing it's regular movements. For further analysis you can look at https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ so that you can see, some certain altcoins are pumped and is in the green.

Yeah, it's true. But not all Altcoins were getting down when bitcoins were raised up in the market. Because some Altcoins were raised up together with Bitcoins it depends to the value needed. Also if we think that when Bitcoin raised up all Altcoins were getting down I think sooner or later other Altcoins have a tendency to die immediately.

When bitcoin price up and altcoin price down then the mostly reason of it is because traders left their coins and buy it for bitcoin so definitely many altcoins can dump because of living it and going in bitcoin to buy in low and sell it in high. Then its just trick fellow traders they selling their coins in high after btc would bullish. Then after it they would sell their bitcoin in high and buying many altcoins in a low price after the pump of bitcoin

When altcoin price rises investors start selling alts for bitcoins and convert it to fiat, so bitcoin price goes down because more sellers of bitcoins in markets.
when alts down then viceversa.

if you want to say that if the price of bitcoin go down, so i will add that most of the people do regular study about altcoin and they do not care either the price of bitcoin is coming down and then they will purchase bitcoin, in fact they they study the altcoin and then decide on the buses of their study that either they are going to invest their money in altcoin our not.

This is because when traders sell their bitcoins, it makes price fall, and the newly acquired money need to be put somewhere : in altcoins, so the price of those rise. However it seems not that true lately, since everything rose so hardly.

double factor. as others say, alt pricing goes up and down on its own but mostly is tied to the ride/fall of bitcoin. The important part is that most alts are primarily traded in bitcoin denomination, which of course makes their value proportionate. If fleebs are only sold for zotskis then the value of zotski is going to mostly determine how many fleebs it takes to have enough to get a movie ticket.

It is not really a mystery, there is a limited amount of money riding in both altcoin and bitcoin, so when more money moves to bitcoin then there is less money available in altcoin and the reverse is true as well.

Yes, people are using altcoin as the main currency, they are trading alltcon using bitcoin, while some working for signature campaign and get altcoin, which they sell in the market to get bitcoin, and they use bitcoin for storing purpose or even use it for so many other purposes. They also use bitcoin for online shopping as most of the online shops now accept bitcoin for shopping. They also use btcoin for gambling purposes.

The altcoins were price down when bitcoins raised up because they balance the value of each altcoins in there market but it was depends to the capacity of altcoins. Also the fluctuate of each currency in the market were making fair that's why some altcoins were price down when bitcoins is raised up.

BTC prices are higher than altcoin, when BTC prices go up, everyone tries to get BTC rather than altcoin. It may happen panic selling .. then Altcoin price down. However, it is advantageous to dare to buy altcoin when BTC rises, when BTC price drops back then altcoin rises. Lucky for tradersBTC

Because the price is for balance, selling value and buying value of currency and selling value is very volatile can be the main trigger

I would rather agree with this point. Sometimes they go up along with bitcoin and sometimes they go down. If we only look at the best coin - we can see that dynamics are not correlating. I'll take btc, eth and ltc. January 2016. Ethereum is growing in price whereas bitcoin is going down. Litecoin is quite stable and is worth 3$ (eth is worth a bit less). January 2017. Bitcoin started going up big time. Ethereum is worth $8 and moving up extremely slowly till March. Litecoin is worth less than 4$ and is also quite stable till the end of March. I think that's enough to see that things are changing all the time and there is no connection between the growth.

I think not only altcoin but bitcoin also pumps and dumps, as in present time the price of bitcoin Is contnously increasing, but I think the maket is going to take a correction in next few days and the price will decrease a little, and there  I think that there is good chance that the price of many altcoin will pumps as people will divert their investment into altcoins.

Yeah, I also think like you, altcoin decrease and Bitcoin increase to create balance to the market because most altcoin prices are based on the price of bitcoin for adjustment, if the bitcoin price increases, the price of the altcoin will be adjusted to match the bitcoin price. Say exactly is the price of altcoin and bitcoin affect each other to limit market fluctuations, however, this is just one factor, we need to rely on many factors such as market information, information on projects related to altcoin and bitcoin, etc. to explain this problem.

Whenever bitcoin rally starts, altcoins start bleeding.Altcoin holders immediately sell their altcoins and buy bitcoins.Since sell order is more than the buy order, altcoin price starts to decrease. But when bitcoin price starts to fall, many bitcoin holders sell their bitcoins and start buying altcoins. Thus altcoin price increases.

It always because of supply, demand, and news. Just like currency and commodities, they always have a signature market. People like us need to follow with coin management and good strategy, not to hurry just slow but sure. Besides that, if the prices not move we will never get profit, simple like that. The last thing please don't blame the coin market, we just need to fix our method, not the market.

I think altcoin prices down because of  its demand and supply. Also because of the  dumpers to get BTC as what they are doing is to hold its bitcoin prices.

People sell whatever altcoins they have for Bitcoin, when they see that it's rising. Then at the "top" they buy back the altcoins and sell BTC, so it becomes vice versa, altcoins up, bitcoin down.

Basically some altcoin have even very strong position, they get a strong support by the investors even if the price of bitcoin is increasing, for example Etherium, Dash, ZEC and so many other altcoin have very strong position people are trading them in priority and that is the reason that the price of such altcoins remain as stable even if the price of bitcoin is increasing.

No  I do not think that bitcoin is reserve for trading altcoin, in fact bitcoin is the main currency , that what people are using it  for different purposes, even in some places people are using bitcoin for shopping in local shops,  in fact we use bitcoin just like our fiat currency for trading, investment as well as for gambling activities.

Come on seriously is this even a question. I suppose you are new to crypto currency in general. Basically people are selling bitcoins and buying altcoins with it. When they buy altcoins price of altcoins increases and btc decreases. Then when btc decreases they buy btc again this leads to increase in price of btc and fall in price of altcoins. Same like buy and sell rate.

simply because alt coins are just depending on the bitcoin, their prices may change when the value of bitcoin changes also, it is the matter of demand and the supply, when the demand will go higher the supply needs to be higher too, therefore the value of bitcoin will go higher and the altcoins will go down because many people invested in bitcoins rather than in alt coins.

Altcoins price were down when bitcoins price raised up, it was due to unbalanced value of currency, because if all Altcoins were balance every time Bitcoin raised up the other altcoins were raised up to, vise versa if they down.

The major reason behind this is that when BTC prices goes up people sell their altcoins to buy BTC. But this is not always true some altcoin remain stable when BTC price goes up. Another reason is that bitcoin is a large currency so its pumping and dumping is not that much easy so people pump and dump altcoin.

Altcoins are down when bitcoin is up is due to Altcoins dumping, people are converting their altcoins to Bitcoin then exchange to cash. Of course, investors and traders alike are taking advantage of the high price of bitcoin before it dip again. There are some people also hold their altcoins btw.

If we observe the current conditions then there will be a different one, once when Bitcoin rises it automatically altcoin down but now almost nothing like that, even if there is a decrease in altcoin prices when Bitcoin rises it is just a moment and instantly altcoin can go up again, and this is quite surprising.

I don't think this is always true, because most of the time the price of most Altcoins goes up in USD value when BTC rally, it is onlt against BTC that their value dump. This is expected because there are only about 16 million currently in circulation and when price goes up, that means less people are selling their BTC

When Bitcoin surges altcoins usually dumps, so people take advantage to buy the dips. But not all alts dumps when btc rises. I think people sell alts when they see btc pumps so that they can convert bitcoin to fiat or/and also buy dips from alts vice versa.

In my opinion, because mostly Bitcoin is the center of the trade. And currently Bitcoin is on surge in just 2 days it rise up to a 200$. And I agree that it is not always that when Bitcoin goes up everyone coin goes down. The tendency for an Altcoin to be profitable is to watch it's rise in its fluctuation on how many was sent out and how much it rises everyday.

There is always a small relation in the market move taking place with bitcoin and altcoins. Traders hold huge volume of cryptocurrencies and based on the price pumping move the assets towards a particular point to profit big. This in turn creates added volume to the capital causing the bitcoin to pump and alts fall in value.

ehm... not every time. Seems at the moment it changed to: btc grows = alts follow.
For me thats a little bit going in the direction that bitcoin will be just a coin between other coins in several years. Just guessing how it could come.
However, when all markets grow that means there is fresh capital from the outside flowing in. Good sign.

Are you kidding? Everything is up in a bizarre looking way. Not sure what to make of these new valuations.  And while they are different, if you read the story on how Paypal got going it will give you insight into what needs to be done for BTC.

The average person will make a profit when the bitcoin price goes up by selling the bitcoin or altcoin he has. Once the price is stabilized they will buy back the potential bitcoin and altcoin. But most of this is a whale to manipulate the price.  :-[

The Rise and Fall pattern is mostly due to the activities of  cryptocurrency Traders. They sell their Bitcoin to buy Altcoin and vise versa.
Sometimes though Bitcoin tend to rises together with Altcoin... I think is due to new money coming into Bitcoin market

I think when bitcoin rises, people will sell other currencies in their hands to enjoy the wealth appreciation brought by bitcoin rising.

Well the logic is simple, as when the bitcoin prices rises, the people sell their altcoins to enjoy the ride with bitcoins and get lots profits. While when bitcoin prices tends to fall, people move out of bitcoin and keep their funds in altcoins which makes altcoin price to rise.

This is totally simple , the most of the people ( traders of Bitcoin as well altcoins ) want to make profit in any ways , so when the big fluctuations arise in the Bitcoin market then they hold Thier Bitcoin and hold until the fluctuations got stopped at once .
During the time of the hold Bitcoin , they do the altcoin trading in very less extent.
Overall this is usual thing , beside of the price of the Bitcoin the value , the price of the altcoins depends upon the demand at the exchange  .
So here I will suggest you to just hold your Bitcoin at the exchange and start the trading when you find easy to do and make profit .

Bitcoin is pulling everything up with it at the moment. It seems BTC and Alts are coupled.

Bitcoin may be pulling the entire crypto space, but alts are increasing at a faster rate than Bitcoin itself.
On the way down, the fall in alt prices will be quicker too.  ;D

in fact most of the people here belong to average families and they can afford to invest limited amount of their assets so they move their assets from one place to another when they find some room to get profit. i think that can be the only reason that they move their investment from one place to another

I do no think that bitcoin has any concern with altcoin. I think those people who want to invest in altcoin they do that n any condition, some time the price of bitcoin start increase and so on the price of some altcoins. while other altcoins prices drops, so its  not necessary to say that when the price of altcoin start increasing then the altcoin down.

Simple, like in Forex:

USD goes up, Euro goes down.

The ultra lower coins do this. The upper ones have their own buy/sell ecosystem which is tied to Bitcoin but also Fiat and its own volume demand.

So:

Bitcoin goes up, CrappyCoin goes Down.

Bitcoin goes up, Ethereal goes up.

That's about market that shake because bitcoin price like uncontroled. TrADERs seem wait and see, they need stable price to sell and buy altcoin. Altcoin less popular among the new users. that why the price is stable.

considering what would be the next level before they going to invest back with any alts that they wanted to hold, so while the bitcoin price is really rallying up traders will try to liquidate and hold then wait for much acceptable price then reinvest its seems to be a common drill but looking for its long time movement alts are also trying to move alongside of btc this fast days.

Usually when bitcoin price starts increasing, altcoins start bleeding.Altcoin investors immediately sell their altcoins to buy bitcoins.Due to this large sale occuring suddenly, altcoin prices start to fall.Similarly when bitcoin price falls, investors start to sell their bitcoins and buy altcoins. So altcoin price increases.

Altcoin actually dumps/pumps not because of the bitcoin's rate but because of its demand and suplly. As what we have seen as bitcoin pumps unexpectedly, we see that altcoins also pump yet some of them dumps which indicates that bitcoin's volitality may not affect altcoins.

no i don't think it work in that way, i think when bitcoin grow is because more people outside of this world ar ebuying, so more fiat in bitcoin get in, when bitcoin drop soem money are moving to alt yes, but to buy altcoin you need bitcoin, and to buy bitcoin you need fiat, so if you see a pump on all altcoin, you also see a pump on bitcoin first because you can't get altcoin with fiat, which is what is happening now i think

This is nothing special. For example btc is the common currency of all people and very many people use btc coins. All the altcoin are worth the value of btc. As btc prices increase, the price of altcoin will be lowered to the value of btc.
But now I see that there is a btc currency that is not influenced by eth. I think it will soon be the second btc after bitcoin: D

For me I think altcoin price dump when bitcoin is rising because their is massive buying and adoption of bitcoin. While altcoin is less popular than bitcoin. Nowadays bitcoin is the top leading cryptocurrency and eays to exchange to fiat thats why people most use bitcoin than altcoin.

I agree with you that in the case of large bitcoin purchases and large adoptions will certainly have a price reduction to altcoin, since altcoin is not as popular as bitcoin, and most people will always trade with altcoin at a time when bitcoin prices are rising.

It is because Bitcoin is a father of all altcoins and whenever there is a move in bitcoin it effects the other altcoins because when people see bitcoin is going up they sell their altcoins and go in bitcoin to get profit that is why altcoins price goes down most of the time when bitcoin price goes up.

The mentality of trader on market in present is one of factors make the price falldown like now, they always scared status SegWit2x Bitcoin and even though the price Bitcoin up or down, altcoin just down and down! But in past week have some recovery but I don't know this is really recovery or trap.

So if there is a change in bitcoin it truly affects altcoin cause bitcoin is the maybe the most highest coin of all and when there is a price change it truly affects altcoin too maybe its because of panic selling and now it never back.

We can assume that traders or investors sell their altcoin if its price pump to get bitcoin. After that converting into fiat is next. thats why it becomes cheaper. When altcoin price dump, then it happen alternatively.

Bitcoin entering beast mode.

I think maybe the next interesting phase for altcoins will be when Poloniex lists a bunch of new coins in the coming months. At least I assume they will. Would be the best way to jumpstart the dropping altcoin volumes.

I think all the altcoins are dependent on Bitcoin because Bitcoin can adjust all markets in cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin prices are down they will invest a lot in altcoin, but if Bitcoin increases they will sell altcoin to buy Bitcoin.

It will depend on the number of users of altcoins and bitcoin, who buys more at that time maybe. Sometimes they both in ups or in down but things like this like they were not in the same trend were eventually can happen.

Bitcoin overall crypto industry Therefore, all investments in it. And the fact that you can go through BTC. , and with it being a new idea supported by people, they begin to mine and buy, and thus lead to High Question Questions. Do not get it anymore, and make the price go up, which makes the more famous bitcoin higher.

Why are you begging! That doesn't make any sense, and dont be one when you are in panic mode. The current market is just fine and it is getting ready for the next moon journey. If not then at least keep telling yourself that and you can be strong handed person so that you can hold onto your investment and try to recover your losses or gain profits if you are in that state. Both of them have their pace of incrimination and decrimination so I guess altcoins can go up at anytime no matter what and where bitcoin is currently. Just remove that thought and keep them separate investment.
