Title: Starting a Crypto Currency Exchange
Post by: CryptoSocial on May 11, 2017, 02:39:36 PM
Hi,
We are planning to start a platform for trading various crypto currencies and would list new Altcoins as well.

The plan so far is to provide a social platform, where people, apart from trading,
  • Could get in touch with like minded people,
  • May choose to trade anonymously or reveal there profiles with the bids
  • Identify local seller / buyer and deal in fiat currencies directly
  • Can utilize escrow services

We are looking "Crowd Funding" as the primary source of funding.

Any suggestions including but not limited to "Security", "Legality" and "Raising the Funds" are welcome from the community.

Thanks in advance.  :)

So you are going to launch an ico to launch a new exchange, well are those existing exchanges launched an ico to established their exchanges I don't think so,better forget it so many exchanges here are having a hard time establishing their share of the market because of the more powerful and big exchange..

There are so many crypto exchanges online but you can try your own . For the funding you need to write your white paper first. It is from the white paper we will know what you up to sir.

Because some coins are just scam coins and they are obvious so those exchange do not want their exchange diluted with bad coins,so you are going to create an exchanges where every one can get free and no restrictions for a new coin, better show your profile and those people behind your project.

Before asking that much better if you provide some legalities about your info, data sheets, escrow or whatsoever valid thing you can show up onhere since we already saw some scam crowdfundings outhere and I think that is enough for us to determine or frequently ask deeply on this kind of scheme. And im wondering how would you compete on other big exchanges out there where in first place you don't have any budget for it for start up.

If you think your plan will became successfull someday i think much better if you go find some money for yourself and just work for your own exchange without asking some investors onhere.

I believe my writing gave a wrong message. I haven't yet asked for any funds from anyone ;), all I put on was an idea and asked for recommendations, suggestions and ideas from the esteemed community members, that would help creating the overall draft and may be educate us and many others about a lot many things, we might miss otherwise.

BTW everyone questioning for legalities and other data are also helping us understand the topic better, however, just wanted to clear my intentions on putting the post.

I thank you all for your suggestions and waiting for more to go ahead and build a strong concept with the support of community members :)

I guess you actually did ask for some funds but that's okay if you create some escrow with yours own money + let others send money to a trusted member.
There are many trading and exchange sites. I think it is a wrong idea to try doing one site where one both trades coins and can buy them for different local currencies. I suggest you do some one thing out of it. And IMO a more needed now and more easy thing for you to do is a website where one can sell btc, eth and ltc for various local currencies (you can just send them money on their cards. Dealing with many altcoins is too hard, for many of them are worthless + the prices are too unstable. And it would be good if there was no registration on your exchange site at all. Good luck!

The irony is that every one complaints about coins being stolen from exchanges, however still most users don't even take pain to activate 2 Factor authentication, which is a part of almost every exchange these days.

Starting an exchange is good idea, but a lot of things to be considered before starting one including securities of wallets and user's coin.
Raising funds for new exchange wouldn't be good idea i think.
Anyway you can pm if you really interested  in starting an exchange.
Maybe i can help you out.

poloniex is having trouble and instead of creating a dex you decide to just create another centralized exchange?

Creating a platform is not as easy as you imagine, it takes all teams and developers to work hard in creating a project, will probably need a lot of money to create a great platform and become the future. So I think you should think more mature again, if you want to create a platform for the project that you will run, hopefully you do not waste time in the project that you will make this. :D

Of course the opportunities are unlimited and still there is space for more exchanges to come and get succeeded in crypto. All you need at stsrt to come out with team with proper introduction and profile of every member and their backgrounds. Then tell how your exchange will be better than already existed, how much money do you need to start, what investors will get in return ?

Exactly, it is completely based on the whitepaper and what the developments which are unique from other exchanges. Nowadays most of the exchange are facing problems with DDOS attacks so you have to be very careful about it. If you want to raise funds means at least you need to start with your own coin and help the people who are showing interest towards it.

If I see it very rarely it happens, but we should be wary of theft of coins in stocks, maybe we should mengatifkan 2 steps to avoid the theft of coins, so be careful.

Oh great to hear that you didn't want to ask some funds for your project, My Deepest apologies for that then if you have plans to create some well might better if you go to coinmarketcap and seek those top 20 coins to be listed in your exchange and frequently visit on announcement thread and seek for those in demand coin so that people will notice your site and provably it can boost your traffics to.

I will add my input to the ongoing expressions and suggestions about expected new exchange which is being designed and proposed by the op. There are already centralized exchanges and without having heavy resources to develop that level's exchange you can't get customers who creates volumes. Better come out with some project which is missing and can bring some good change in ecosystem of finance. You can build exchange that is most easiest part but getting customers confidence is the real hurdle in my opinion.

I have a suggestion on "Raising the Funds". Find the developers of new altcoins which are unknown and not listed on any exchange or listed only on a few. Tell them you'll add their coin to your Exchange but first they should help you to create the Exchange.

Thaw would be a lovely idea but could you see the domino effect of this strategy? I think many scam devs will try to pay less for their addition and scam many people if they select to dump their hodl coins. And i think much better for this is to have a Voting feauture where people select on what coin would be added and asking for money is better if OP would choose those potentially build coin to be listed and not those coin who doesn't have any clear road map.

Decentralized exchange is an exchange without any central authorities, like blockchain technology, exchange that runs by the people, for the people, to the people. I guess.

Decentralized exchange is certainly very good, but there are a number of reasons why you can be affected by fraudsters. But on the other hand it's quick exchanges.

I like EtherDelta concept. I know they just had DNS hack etc.
But they have startet something good.
You can free "copy" the code
https://github.com/etherdelta
and contribute to the open source project.
Maybe other open source projects you can start from. Starting from scrath could take years.
