Title: Thoughts on GOLEM ?
Post by: OptimusPrime007 on May 11, 2017, 04:54:50 PM
What are your thoughts on Golem?
Amazing concept of super computing power by using available resources over the network. Will it succeed?

It seems the market loves Golem judging by its fast rise and its rank. Trading volume also suggest that it is solid.

SEEMS is the key word here.

When you have such terrible distribution like golem then things can SEEM anyway the handful of holders want them to seem.

Could quite easily collapse to a mere shadow of its mc and vol if a few people decided it should.

Over hyped and over valued like most insta ico schemes here.

SCAM

I think Golem is one of the few projects that need to happen in one form or the other. P2P distributed computing is as powerful as P2P distributed storage, if done right. And that's a big *if*.

But assuming the team is capable enough on delivering on the promise, Golem has a bright future ahead because it has the first-mover advantage.

The idea with Golem is that is that it aims to be a distributed supercomputer. A near top of the line supercomputer can be purchased for about $100 million. Golem is already valued at almost twice that now and I haven't seen anything to suggest that Golem will be able to keep up with an actual supercomputer any time soon, much less two. Until Golem proves that it can equal the power of a real supercomputer, I'm not willing to buy it at values that are more than the cost of a real supercomputer. Sold my Golem last week on this basis. Cool project, but don't think it deserves a higher value at the moment.

Imagine what havoc Golem will do to mining, as it solves thehash for every coin AND figures out the passwords to every coin wallet ever. Same threat as Quantum Computing but Golem will be usable by all of us for whatever we want. There are 1000 oh crap scenarios Golem might have us facing, but also 1000 more really nice ones. IBM might be peeved when public Golem blows away Watson and their plans to generate billions from it over the next decade.

Golem is suspicious for been selling in just minutes. Instead of Golem I am supporting SONM which is way bigger project than Golem in my own opinion and the potential that SONM has is way more ambitious.

Thumbs up to the previous writer. Recently read an article comparing SONM and Golem. Both are very strong projects, but as i see it, the future is for SONM.

How many similar projects we will have till the end of year? This is not concurrency this is distraction from the idea, and everything can fall in water if whales start their plays with it. My conclusion this will be interesting only for profit taking.
Maybe i'm wrong, but with this tendency we will have 10 or more super computers..Better for all is existence of one or two..

I've been following this project since it was one of the first ICOs to sell out in minutes. Funny, because now that is just a regular thing. But, Golem is a great project and their team is great. And if you look at price charts, their coin is still increasing in value (https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/gnt/overview/BTC). Also, they have a really detailed plan and roadmap and so far have stuck to their milestones.

If Golem ever gets in a downtrend then don't buy it, and sell whatever you have

well done you are realising that this is the new premine scam.

price can go to 1 trillion if you and insiders collaborate together.

scam same for all insta icos.

You hate instamines but dont realise insta ico are far worse.

I'm really excited about the Golem project.  I think it will give developers access to a super computer that they normally would never have access to.  I'm hoping the primary use case will be related to AI development.  For example, a better self driving car algorithm as a result of a open source dev team now having access to a super computer to run millions of simulations would be something I would like to see.

Sad to hear that the ICO distribution wasn't handled all that well.

I would really like to see the Web Hosting part of these projects come to fruition.

Anything to aid in the decentralization of the internet is welcome imo.

Good project, terrible distribution.
The idea behind Golem is great. It is probably the best use of cryptocurrency model for something more than to create standard digital monetary system.
When we consider recent rapid Golem's growth then it seems that users know that too. People don't even care about that terrible distribution model fact that all coins are already mined.
It shows us that, even if the distribution is really bad, coin can be popular when it is backed by innovative concept.

Maybe the distribution was not excellent, but the project is really great. I think it is undervalued, but I respect who says that is a high-risk investment. I'm buying it now, waiting for better time and new releases (coming soon)..

If you would like block chain supercomputer ( grid computing ) you could try Gridcoin, they have implemented Distributed proof of research for BOINC projects and all nitty gritty details already. To use such grid in a nuttshell you would need to start a new BOINC project and getting it white-listed by voting on it.
