Title: MT GOX... Where are my coins? [UPDATE : SOLVED]
Post by: Maria on June 19, 2011, 01:58:24 AM
I transferred 5.5k BTC into my account 48 Hours ago. I am waiting for my account to be funded. If I would have known before hand that this transaction would take this long, I most likely would've done business with bitcoin7 or tradehill. Please fund my account ASAP.

Maria

UPDATE: MT GOX funded my account in full. The error was on my end for not letting the program confirm the transactions with the network. Once confirmed, MT GOX funded my account within minutes. Great Service!!!

Now, I requested a withdrawal via Liberty Reserve and I am waiting to see how fast I can cash out of MT GOX.

PS. I am a professional forex trader and EA developer for MT4 and MT5. I also exchange Liberty Reserve via Western Union anywhere in the world. I also can exchange BTC to Western Union as well.

For some strange reason all of these guys are SUPER slow to process exchanges & orders.. ridiculous since the whole idea is interweb based, even slower than a government run institution.

the government and the hackers are at war: Bitcoin seems to be in the middle.

I really could care less about the government or the hackers. What I care about is that MT GOX has my coins and the price change during the last 48 hrs on 5.5k BTC is around 20K USD. MT GOX holding my coins has potentially cost me 20K USD. 2 days to electronically fund your account is WAY TOO LONG. MT Gox, You are a true asset to the BTCommunity but this is a serious problem.

Me too, but SUPER slow for LR, which in my opinion should also be easily automated.

in that case, you may blame either mtgox or LR, or both

Is your client connected and does it have all the blocks? http://blockexplorer.com/address/1GqkXSDGATi2Lof1ySewk1GPe2orcwAtYn says it's never been in the network.

The good thing is that as long as there is no transaction in the block chain that shows the coins going out, you will still have them on the old address.

Restart, and run bitcoin.exe -rescan

And then you wait for a few minutes as Bitcoin scans the blocks.

Post a screenshot of the program running. (with details like addresses blurred, if you feel like it)

I'm more interested in the number of connections and block count you have in it.

4 connections - 131746 blocks

Then I have no idea what might have happened. Get hold of someone more experienced and maybe they can figure something out from the debug log.

8 connections is the standard amount bitcoin client tries to maintain. Try forwarding the bitcoin port on your router, could help.

Your transaction hit the network. See it here (http://blockexplorer.com/tx/31bc82ca64e0180516374d3ecf29fe93c5129ca80d74d5c556c9f955fd3076da#o0). If the address you sent to is a MtGox address your balance should be reflected at MtGox shortly.

Thanks to all who looked into the problem. Since it looks like it did hit the network, I'll give MT GOX another 48 hrs and see what happens.

To clarify what happened, you apparently sent 1500 BTC while you were not connected to the network and/or had network related issues at the time of the send. Your client knew you sent and subtracted it from your balance but the transaction was sitting queued up (in your client) ready to get pushed onto the network once you connected to some other nodes.

Until you successfully connect, the rest of the Bitcoin network and especially MtGox (your destination) had no idea that you intended to send 1500 BTC. Once you connected the transaction got pushed out onto the network and got included in a block shortly after, specifically block #131746 (http://blockexplorer.com/block/00000000000003033869e8076a7a24a11c1eddd86f7b8fa482566472a1664be1). At this point the network knows about your transaction.

The important thing is to always have all blocks downloaded and at least a couple connections established in your client else any transactions you intend to send/receive will not appear to be successful.

I hope this helps.

First of all, Thank You! Clear as water. This means I must repeat the process with my other wallet, correct?

Just transferred a decent amount of BTC to USD. Submitted a withdrawal request via Liberty Reserve. Now lets see how long that takes.
