I can't track it for you, but I suggest reporting the phone's IMEI as stolen.

This may be a very stupid suggestion, but have you tried calling it and talking to the robber? If not, simply report it as stolen. Text it saying you will report it

I will file a FIR for my stolen phone. But i am not sure if they will find it or not. Its too lazy police in here.

If you remember or if you have the copy of the IMEI number of your phone, you can contact the service provider of that phone and I'm sure they will help you to track your phone's location.

As he said in the first post, Right now it is switched off. So it's impossible to talk with the thief, and I think he will get ignored when he text the thief about reports.
The he can do-if this thread can't find someone to do this job- is report and track it using the phone IMEI.

Hey MaliceRed, welcome back!
I think reporting it would be useless, because imo police or other authority wont take it as a serious problem and chase the thief.

For OP, if I'm not mistaken, Google has some way to track your lost phone, which you must have registered gmail account on the phone.

Thanks but it looks like there is no other way to tracking it than with IMEI no. which only police can do.

Still searching for someone who can trace a phone.

Wendigo's article says it all, it really explains all possible things you should do if you lose your phone. And like I said before, relying on police to find a lost phone will be useless, unless your phone contains a top secret data that could impact national security.
Well anw good luck, hope you find your phone asap.

Can't see any details in that image.Too blurry. To the point

Just want to share my experience with phones lost (likely stolen) in 2 countries (Malaysia circa 2012 and Netherlands in 2017). They were both reported to the police, as they were work phones with sensitive data - I didn't expect any follow up and the police report was just necessary for administration and write-off purposes.

In Malaysia: my report was duly noted with no problems. But I was warned nicely that no follow-up is likely to ever happen. And they were right =)

In Netherlands: was a weird case. Local police station seemed somewhat reluctant to take the report (maybe because they assumed it was just one of a hundred tourist thefts) and advised to go to the main police station to ensure proper follow-up because of the trivial nature of the theft. Long story short, got pushed back to the local station by the bigger one. Duly noted the report but no follow-up ever happened.

So yes, I seriously doubt any effort will be made in any country to recover a lost phone, unless there's significantly important information needed from it. If you're willing to fork out the cash, I'd recommend a private investigator who'll have the same access to police tools and who'll be paid to locate your phone. Once that's done, then you can update your police report and they'll have something actionable.

As you said that it was switched off, do you think it is still possible to bring it back to you? What if the theif has already remove your simcard and change a new one so you can't contact him anymore. I think only NBI can help you to trace your lost phone.

hmmm, Why can your phone be stolen?
the person who that stole the would have swapped the contents of your phone, such as replace sim card or others,
next time be careful !!

Exactly.I thought the procedure is the same in the country I belong but turns out it's the same everywhere! Finding phones is the least of priority unless you're ready to proceed with legal allegations and have money to spend. Most of the times,it's not worth the time.
Apple users have much more secure ways to lock the phone or track it if lost, that find my iphone thingy.

I'm pretty sure all of you don't read Wendigo's article and making random post ::)

If you read that, then you will know that you can track your lost Android phone even if the thief changes the sim card, as long as the phone is switched on and you had registered gmail account there. But you will totally lose it if the thief does factory data reset.

How did it happen? Now it must be careful and must tighten the security especially those who understand about our work

Whether the police helps you in tracking your phone or not, You still need to report about your stolen phone to the authorities . In case your stolen phone is used for some illegal activity like ransom call or something like that, you need to keep yourself in safe zone. Repot it to authorities at first instance and then try to track it by some methods as suggested by some senior members here

as i told you earlier i have already read that article. But my phone is switched off and maybe my simcards are also taken out from phone. Which mean i can't trace any of them. I have strong pattern and fingerprint lock if he switches the phone on. So he have to factory reset everything if he wants to get into my phone which means everything on my phone is gone(all data/google accounts).

That's why i need someone who can trace it out with IMEI number.

It's impossible for us to trace your phone, only services providers (in your country like o2 or something) can do this, and only if they have a cour warrant, or i have no idea where you from, but you say the police is lazy offer them a small reward maybe they will help or just go to your isp and ask them for help maybe you get lucky and they will help you out!

And if someone will tell you he can trace it put the money in escrow first and only release the money if you verified his claims and only when you are 100% sure all is correct!

You will get a lot messages from people who claim that they can do it but need to be paid upfront or 50% or whatever

I can log a complaint for any phone's IMEI number online but once it was tracked I need to provide enough proof that I am the original buyer of that phone. Government authorities can track IMEI number globally. You are not mentioning about your country. Please google for your country's cyber crime wing. Probably every country now has it.

You may recover your phone but not sure about your data. I am sorry for your losses.

Sorry, but that post didn't belong to you, I was talking for those who giving advice without read the article. Anw seems you don't have any important data on your phone then, since you have already known that there is a possibility all of your data is erased by thief and you still want to track it. Well, good luck mate.
