It's poorly coded.. Guy is using dollar store clearance servers.

He has too much money on the exchange to have such awful slapped together website.

Just my humble opinion, but no reason to really use it anymore due to vircurex and bter.

I would just stick to Vircurex myself.

99% agreed.  But as for that other 1% I have some FRC that I trade on bter.

At the beginning it looked like a ddos, I hope its nothing more serious and it will be back with all accounts intact.

my guess is a scam. dude lives about 20 miles from the IP location of someone who jacked 10k FTC from me. As soon as it appeared on cryptonit, the guy started splitting it out into different accounts in 1k increments.

maybe there is no association, but i would stay the hell away from cryptonit even if it comes back up (and I doubt it will)

I cashed after after every trade immediately...

It was worth to pay those fees just to get it out... so Ive lost only about 3 LTC, if it stays down...

check to see if the address you sent your coins to last time has sent all of it's coins somewhere else... that might let you know a little more about if your coins are still there.

Strangely, my FTC account there has fewer outgoings than the FTC I sold. Though I don't really have much experience figuring this stuff out so I could be interpreting it wrongly.

Quote
Balance: 5005 FTC
Transactions in: 4
Received: 9500 FTC
Transactions out: 2
Sent: 4495 FTC

So the inputs to my cryptonit account match what I paid in. But the amount sent out doesn't! I actually sold pretty much all of it, leaving 200FTC...

(For some reason I decided I had to have a nice round number in my wallet accounts, so I left some litecoins at cryptonit. That was stupid of me and I shan't be doing that again.)

I only had 20FTC on there, so no big deal, still annoys me on principle though.

Bter.com seems to be working well.

If the site disappears with our coins I hope it at least helps to set an example for people to stay away from a lot of the new pump and dump coins.

Uhhh,,, I don't think they're a scam.  They seem legit coming from the fact that they had things like google authenticator to prevent unauthorized withdrawal.

But the site owner should post an update or something.

Site owner's name is 'mugen' by the way.

Calm down ... Mugen is not a scammer.
He's had many problems with the websites but he never stole a single coin.
The site will be back and you will get your coins.

I doubt he/she is a scammer. That being said: hardware and software die. Dont know what this was run on, or if it was backed up. That is my concern 99% of the time, not scammers.

I wouldn't can it a scam site.  More like it wasn't designed to handle the load, which was the reason it crash a few weeks ago.  He was supposed to upgrade the server or something, but apparently either it wasn't enough or he being ddos or something.  In any case it shows that this exchange is not the most professional place to keep your coins.

No, 4500 FC = lol attack.

4500 LTC would be a panic attack... I hope noone had that much in there.

Best is to never have more than 1/2 BTCs in any service without very very well reputation. And, anyway try to have always your coins in your power...

Most clever scam ive seen
step one:set up a site that looks legit
step two: make it a pain to withdraws with google authenticator, so people keep coins in it
step three wait for a coin with mega hype
step 4 bee the first to exchange it bringing tons in
step 5 close down account take coins as soon as vircurex opens up
step 6 sell on vircurex

Perhaps. Though I hope not for that sake of many people.

I'll be more worried when my coins leave the wallet they're still in. So far that has not happened.

Perhaps a mass of people tried to withdraw to move to Virc. Or possibly the trading volume increased to the point the application couldn't handle. Or maybe the site was maliciously DoS'd with many micro-trades as has been seen on other and larger exchanges.

I'm not ready to call it a scam just yet. Could be, but not ready to call it as such.

I feel this would just result in a massive crash in value of the coins, I don't believe anyone could make a particularly meaningful profit doing this so early in a coins history. This is however just my opinion.

Nonsense. Google authenticator was really easy to use.

Not sure why anyone would store coins on a website anyway, should be an exchange not a backup wallet.

Hope they open again, I found the quite decent.

It seems we going to have to same troubles as every exchange: Too many active users.
The servers could not handle nearly 1.000 simultaneously connected users. And not even one minute after the servers came up again, over 100 users were connected. Thank you for pushing us into new dimensions we have never dreaming of reaching one day. Of course we apologize for the downtime and do our best to upgrade the servers again.

We have to stop accepting new users for a while and have to see how to upgrade the servers next.

Thank you for your detailed and professional bug report. It makes things easy to debug.

Hopefully won't be too long now.

I'm not too worried. Pretty sure it's not a scam and the dev is trying his best. It's just far too buggy for the moment to be leaving coins in for any length of time, so having them trapped there is distressing.
