This signals the buyer to purchase and hold more bitcoin in their wallet. The predictions on the increasing bitcoin value reaching 5k$ this year will probably realized due to this good news.

Wow, that is a pretty crazy scenario. So Segwit will be activated but not locked in? What is the point of this? I dont get why they cant just be honest and do things properly.

Hurray, Segwit is already is activated the two days before on litcoin. This is a additional information and it will take bitcoin in flight for sure. Bitcoin value is just over the 2000$ now but by september bitcoin may touch the 3000$ or 4000$ in chart for sure.

How can you be happy with such cheap tricks?

They are paying an alternative group of coders, they basically want people to ignore the Core team which is responsible for 100% of the code that has kept bitcoin safe for 7+ years, and instead get on board some idiots that have been parroting about how they have this Rootstock technology that will be awesome and have released nothing. They come across as the same scammy guys on Maidsafe.

Anything that isn't lead by the Core devs is trash and you should be skeptical about it, and there are reasonable facts to be skeptical about this too.

We need to solve this problem. I don't like UASF, but this is worse.

lol thats a big stretch, as an aussie i can tell you australia is a bitcoin desert, lot less then in the past (almost zero) business accepting it, and only complete rip off exchanges with huge cuts anyone dumb enough to go fiat-btc-fiat.

Did not see this coming... considering we were getting the least support for SEgwit activation but looks like things went in favour of segwit over BU to save the great bitcoin of which btcs survival really depended on this implementation.

The folks who want 2Mb don't trust the SegWit people not to stop a block size increase after SegWit is locked in.

Sounds understandable given the emotionalism on this issue. It would be very disruptive to activate SegWit and then deactivate it before LOCK. Seems unlikely the miners would do this. It seems far more likely that the SegWit folks would increase their opposition to a block size increase to 2 Mb once they already have what they want. I have seen people on this forum arguing for exactly this.

This is not complex it is a simple barter 2mb blocks in exchange for SegWit.

BU is more risky than SegWit, Even though SegWit offers temporary solution, It is still better than BU because it will just made the bitcoin centralized and only huge company can control bitcoin. I'm still waiting what will be the affect of SegWit on the scaling problem.

Are you serious? SegWit with forced activation is really bad and it same as bitcoin unlimited. The main benefits of segwit to fixing the malleability problem and in addition to gives more benefit for the off-chain development.

I had earlier thought this discussion had been put to rest not until now again. But the issue is that everybody agrees that there is need for something to be done concerning the issue of bitcoin transaction fees and and delay time and if this will solve it then so be it but carefulness needs to be exercise in other not to create another problem from trying to solve one here. I am not a techy savvy to understand the technicalities all I want is my low fees and transaction time should be returned to the good old days.

Yes ooo hope bitcoin get to $4000 by September as they are a lot of information and event line up from now till September. One of those events are activates withdrawal services by China crytocurrency major exchangers by June, by this major events bitcoin may touch $4000 when segwit activation.

What if Segwit is enabled in Bitcoin, does it mean that Litecoin will be disregarded? I think Bitcoin devs just waited for the litecoin to done it before they do it to their own. because LTC is using now segwit.

Nah. Because of atomic swaps if they both have segwit they'll interface perfectly.

It's not too late to buy now, because bitcoin hasn't reached the segwit update point and still uses 1 mb.
I honestly don't believe with news about BU, but they include managed to damage bitcoin price some time ago.

Bitcoin is a decentralized consensus mechanism.

This means compromise is required and the interest of all major parties must be satisfied to the degree needed to maintain that consensus.

This dual issue sounds very similar to political parties and election periods. Where you are presented two options, one obviously sucks, the other sucks less. So you choose the one that sucks less so that the one that is terrible does not win. Im not sure if its just a coincidence or not, but i hope this has not been designed like this.

It`s interesting that ,when the price does up,miners have consensus and when the price does down,there was such a "sivil war".

If that is true that is really good news and people need to buy up as much bitcoin as possible. Then when the price rises everyone will be rich! That is really good news I hope you are right. There are a lot of statements that end up being not carried out though. I hope that this continues to be carried out and everyone can benefit from the process.

But I read they might need more time to get it implemented which is causing the current situation to persist. I think we must need immediate solutions to make bitcoin to grow further.

I am not very technically minded and want to know the for and against argument surrounding the SEGWIT issue and why some people think it is bad, but others are finding it to be a relief. Can someone give an ordinary person like myself the pros and cons of the SEGWIT activation?

wait is it that shitty consensus that actually allows the asicboost for a while and the one that bitmain approved? If yes then fuck them all with those consensuses, the only real thing that can bring the power of bitcoin to peoples hands is uasf and it doesn't matter if the price drops or not, it is the only right way to do it, otherwise bitcoin will become worthless as this will show that miners have the power over bitcoins. I'd rather have 500 usd worth bitcoin with proper decentralization than the shitty regulated version of it valued 5k usd.

It's not that people hate Litecoin, but more the fact that they missed out big time on how its price got up significantly.

I remember people back in the days saying that Bitcoin is the gold, and Litecoin the silver. I personally still see it like that even though the majority of the people prefer to focus on Dash and Ether.

Other than that, these endless block size debates should come to an end, but not through whatever proposed method by a bunch of selfish entities. UASF is basically the only realistic scenario.

It's never too late dude, what will you say when it gets to 5k$ or 10k$? There's no stopping now so it's better to buy now than regret later. I would suggest you give it a thought and don't think it's too late.

Cheap bitcoins? Really?! If to you 2600$ per 1 BTC is cheap then I don't know where are you from. To me it's like year's salary and I just haven't an opportunity to buy "cheap" bitcoins. My strategy is different - I am holding the part of my weekly earnings. That is the only option in current situation for people like is am, who haven't money to buy.

Even I can't hold then more than I get it through campaign because the price of btc is really high which I cannot able to buy them because my earning are limited. Better I am saving which i am getting trough campaign.

We already late, now bitcoin cross $2000, and i am sure most of the people have left the idea to buy the bitcoin at this price, and wait for the moment when bitcoin come back. It is amazed that in the start of this year, we all want to see when bitcoin cross $2000 and now the time has come and in this time, we all want to see when bitcoin come back. Honestly, i don't see the point to miners to refuse SegWit ... except if Miners machines have a problem with this (segwit) and only "newest hardware" (and linux encapsuled miner) are compatibles with segwit instructions (so, since 1 year only).

SegWit benefices, it's like compare CSV and ODS formats = 1,5Mb (CRC don't include) vs. 0,3Mb (4x CRC includes + compression)

That is definitely a great news to all bitcoin enthusiast who always doing hold their bitcoin in a long terms.
The prediction by the bitcoin experts now are just closely happening about 2000$ to 4000$ this year or more. I will keep an eye

Good to hear that Segwit will be implemented but I think the news linked by OP is outdated, since it is posted on may and is saying that price about to run to 2200$ but we already reached that. Anyway it is good to know this info but I think I will wait a little later before buying BTC because for me, there could be better opportunities that will be seen in the future to buy bitcoin again.

Good opportunity for big investors. Or may be best opportunity for the people on the middle grounds. Hope to see that price will increase and not decrease really. If something goes in opposite side then it might be disastrous as people will loose their big assets and fiat money. Wont be good for bitcoin after partition.

I have no doubt that SegWit will go ahead one way or the other, but the impact that this might have, could determine Bitcoin's progress in the future. If we have to Hardfork to get SegWit implemented and the other fork is very well supported, then it might slow down our progress. One thing that JihanVer has accomplished, was to disrupt the growth process of Bitcoin. This has given CW a foot in the door for things like nChain. ^grrrrrrr^

It is a good opportunity for each and every individual user and not just big investors,if you are having money right now then it is the best time to enter and hold for a longer time as the predictions from world over predicts that the price would triple from this current situation in coming years and if that is true then there is nothing wrong in it.

It's not really breaking news... since this was all we already expected, right? OK, the date seems to be moving a little behind, but even this delay was to be expected. Anyway, I think this is signs that progress is being achieved. All parties seem to be moving along.

In past 24 hours BTC is -7% and ETH in -18%.

I'm still wondering should I wait more to buy some or now is the right moment. Some speculations are about <2K in the end of July.
