Title: [Beginner] Looking for mining help [Beginner]
Post by: RigbyDigby on May 22, 2017, 04:20:03 PM
My buddy and I are getting into mining.  We both work good jobs and want to start with altcoins.  We basically wanna be able to mine different currencies depending on how markets are going. We plan on getting our first 6 gpu rig within a week and continuing from there.  We want to get cards that are versatile for switching currencies if need be.  Money isnt an option, we want a top of the lane versatile rig.  Were looking for some help.  If any1 has any good ideas or places to start, that would be great.  Thanks for the time friends!

Hey RigbyDigby ,

the important things for the start:

- Location....you need a place that has enough power capicity
- cooling.....the more rigs the more heat....so you need to cool down
- stable Internet Connection ( use LAN if possible)
- Hardware ...for example:
- 1xASRock B85 or H81 BTC or boards like this
- 1xIntel G1840 for example
- 1x4GB Ram DDR3
- 1x 128GB SSD
- 1x1200W psu (i like corsair)
- 6xGPU RX 480 or RX 470 or 570 etc.

I'm new as well - and pretty much came here with the same plans.

There are tons of threads and topics that would be great if there were step by step tutorials and a wiki or table of content of sorts but there isn't. Best thing to do, is dive in and read everything you can.

Thanks Cryptolover and VyprBTC for the response!

I know there are many tutorials on how to set up a mining rig for example.  We are currently debating between RX 480 or 570/580 cards 6x.   We've ordered parts for our current rig and will post updates on or process to better help any new people learning with us. I am looking for cards for our next rig that are compatible for cross currencies such as mining multiple currencies if we decide to switch.  I am always available and a solid learner if anyone has success with mining alt currencies/multiple currencies.  Please message me as im willing to help with what I know aswell as would love advice from experienced members

you can check out my website, its cryptominingtalk.com and its mainly for people asking the same questions you are.  I just posted a page on a new 6 gpu 570 rig I built.  Other than that, cryptolovers list is a good start.  Keep in mind that you have to play with what is available to you (hardware).  So maybe 6 gpu's is too expensive or too hard to find, and a 5 gpu rig may be better.  it depends.  I suggest a 570 over a 580 due to power consumption, but that depends on your electricity rates and if you are dual mining, etc.
