I am wondering, what would happened if I can get some cash to buy 3 BTC that means at the prices of this moment 1 BTC = 2,252 USD so would be 3BTC= 6,756 USD and forget that I Have them for 10 Years???

Will I be rich??

The future of bitcoin looks promising at a moment and if bitcoin survives for next 10 years then you will surely become an millionaire with that amount as just look at the current increase in the price of bitcoins and if it continues then after 10 years may be will witness the price of bitcoin in millions but to be honest its really hard to predict what will be scenario after 10 years.

4. Waiting 10 years is a good plan and I believe it will either be at least 1000% higher or extinct. But I would read up on Bitcoin and make an educated guess on when to get out.
5. You could do a phased buy. Buy 0.1 BTC every week or month. This will give you an average buy rate.
6. Look at the history charts and try and see patterns.
7. Greed kills so don't make any rush judgements.
8. If you still want to do the 10 year plan then stick to it and don't get scared even if it goes down the shitter for a while.

I have been in Bitcoin since 2013 and my plan has been to hold until 2020.
My reasoning has been that the game will change when mining is no longer profitable and only few coins are to be mined.
I have tried trading with 1 BTC and lost most of it, but learnt a lot about trading.
Now I view my BTC holdings as a lottery ticket which has a high potential of winning the lottery :)
So in essence I am running the same plan as you are and I believe a lot of people are doing that too.

There are some things today that backing up the bitcoin price increase so it's reasonable to believe that it will go up more plus some of the expected big news that will happen this year. If those postive speculations will happen then expect more big surprises for many years to come.

For spare money of mine, why not? If those money that will you used will not affect your current financial status as you will consider that amount as "loss" for now because you will idle it then you go with that plan.

In addition to what others have said if I have that amount of money that I am not using and I am sure even if I lose it, it won't affect my financial status by any means, I tell you I will gladly make that decision without looking back because I am sure I am forgetting about it and that is the most important thing. But when you do, just don't be distracted about whatever its going to happen to price in the short term focus on the long term.

If kinds of questions like that are easy to answer then we might get rich by now and able to hold bitcoin back when the price reaches it's lowest price after Mt Gox saga. Honestly speaking not just because I am using this forum that I have to speak positively but actually the price of bitcoins in coming 10 years might be un-imaginable because you see the price is not going down at all. It's not very wise to buy now that the price is so high but yeah even if you buy and have a long term in sight then you might see some bonkers income when you open your wallet after 10 years, maybe a millionaire.

if you are going for long term investment then you need to invest a good amount of bitcoin, as by investing only 3 bitcoin is really not such a good investment, you can only wast your time, i think 3 bitcoin is good for short term investment, where you can invest your 3 bitcoin again again and can get good profit. although risk of losing your 3 bitcoins is also there, but still 3 bitcoin is good for short term  investment.

So buying athe lowest price gives you the best earning to make you rich as well fulfill all that you desired for.

You're stronger than I as I cannot look away. The longest I went without looking at BTC price is maybe 1 week.

It will take great patience to hold bitcoins for that long period of time as most of the people will start selling their coins when they see price going higher to make profits so there will be very few people who will manage to hold their coins with great level of discipline and there will be many who will get panic and may sell their coins at a wrong time.

Being rich on those 3 bitcoins would still depend on a lot of things. Would bitcoin still be the top crypto currency in ten years' time? If that money is something that you wouldn't be needing in the next ten years and willing to forget about, then the decision is all yours. I think it would be wise to do like an nlocktime transaciton instead of having your private key because i believe that bitcoin is definitely going to go up in the long term, so therefore selling anytime soon would be an absolute waste of effort and bitcoins.

 If you do an nlocktime transaction and throw away the private keys( make sure you do so securely) then you will be able to basically force yourself not to gamble/sell too low of a price.

It is pretty much unanimous that Bitcoin will have a binary outcome. At its current trajectory, it is expected to be adopted by more people therefore grow is value vs fiat since there is a finite supply. At what price it will end up is anyone's guess. A variety of factors such as the market share vs altcoins and US dollar reserve currency status will mean the difference of 5 or 7 figures in a positive outcome. On the negative side, I do not think it'll go to zero, but can go near the current value of 1 dogecoin. Of course, that would be in the event of a catastrophic loss in confidence. The factors that will govern the price on a negative outcome is government regulation, chain split, change in PoW algorithm and again the market share & features of altcoins.

In 10 years, Bitcoin won't even be remotely close to overtaking USD as a currency. I don't know if it will ever be. It has a huge volatility problem. Right now it is not a currency, it is an investment or medium for transferring money.

Active development of certain coin is just not valid argument for investing in them. It won't guarantee that users will be interested and coin will be adopted.
There are shitload of altcoin and most of them are in state of 'active development. Coins need to earn certain amount of reputation before it can be recognized first.

You cannot predict anything if you buy 3 bitcoin now @2000$+ and after 10 years you see bitcoins are priced @200$ what will you do? It is a good idea but 10 years is a seriously long duration and a lot of things happen in a span of 10 years. I mean the price of bitcoins might reach something very enormous but maybe you do a mistake and loose them all, or there is something that makes you loose.

Maybe you can only risk buying 1 BTC. Maybe 0.5 BTC. Based on the underlying economics of bitcoin, in 10 years you will either have made an extremely big profit or you will have nothing. Whatever chain split happens, there can be only one Bitcoin ~ the coins you will have sitting in the other (minor) chain, are nothing more than altcoins.

if and when a chain split happens, any coin that has existed on the main chain (the chain that existed before the fork) will always be valid because any new chain is building on top of that chain. there is no "minor chain" here.

lets say you receive bitcoin on block #475095 (which was mined 14 minutes ago) and fork happens after a while on block #475500 and two chains exist. these two chains are building their blocks on top of previous blocks they both have the same block #0 to block #475500 but their blocks  #475501 and above are different.

I do not know what you will get, become rich because bitcoin prices rise high in the next 10 years. the one things that I'm sure, you can get a profit but i've a little hesitant you can be rich only with 3 btc. you need invest more if you want become rich with bitcoin.

It will depend on how much money you consider to become rich, so if after 10 years a single bitcoin is going for 10 grand or so i wouldn't say you rich and losing all your money is practically impossible at the moment you might make a handsome profit after waiting for a long time and a loss is out of the picture

I think you are talking about the value of bitcoin in the future, I think it can continue to exist for a long time, so its value will increase in the future. If you buy it for storage, and then you to lose it, that really is a pity.

I think in the future, the supply of Bitcoin is not so much so that Bitcoin price will increase more than now so if you hold 3 BTC for 10 years from now, I think you will be rich, really rich.

That's right the supply of bitcoin is limited and its demand can go much higher then our expectations which will make the price of bitcoins to touch the moon and in that case if he holds his 3 btc for next 10 years then he can expect huge profits from it which can surely make him rich in future.

Right now, there are some prices decline and it seems bitfinex show the lowest exchange rate around $2224 and may continue to decrease. And the highest price rate since May 22^th maybe around $2800-$2950, if you've bought 3 bitcoin when it was $2252 and sold it at $2900, then you should get $1944 profits. But, if you didn't sell it, don't worry. I will definitely take the chance to buy bitcoin whenever dip occurs and wait for 10 years later, my bitcoin value will increase obviously just like what happens all this time.

Well bitcoin is always a good as an long term investment so if you buy them now and save for next 10 years then you can expect good and positive results out of it and as of now price has gone down so it would be really great time to buy bitcoins at lower price.

Yes that is the right thing to do as price is low now so you can buy bitcoins and hold them for next few years and sell them when it reaches to your expected price level and if you have more then you can invest some of them in trading too.

It is difficult to know since we will be speculating, but if we assume bitcoin will go up about 20% every single year then the price will be close to 13k after 10 years which would mean that your investment will have a value of 39k, not bad but it is not going to be life changing money.

Go for it, the price is quite lower today than before. As long as it was under $2,500 buy it. Don't believe others that the price will go down, bitcoin is becoming popular and countries are showing so much interest into it. They want to adopt bitcoin with every single transactions in their economy and it was really helpful for them.

If you are planning to purchase bitcoin right at this moment and then planning to forget about it for ten years ,then you might lose some coins if there is split and make sure that you monitor everything that is happening and then make sure you take the right decision,one thing is certain the price of bitcoin would go up in ten years time but it is always good to watch the market closely.

I would split your funds between btc and alts.
Maybe 2btc and 1 btc equivalent of whatever strikes your fancy (ethereum, zcash, etc).
Watch for new things as well (eos, tezos, etc.).
Not necessarily buy them, but be informed.

Good advice but the opener wants to forget about its coins and this is not possible with new projects, even if those are the ones that gives the biggest earnings, so it is better to invest in bitcoin and known altcoins so the risk of losing your money is as low as possible.

Rich? In today's dollars? You will probably be able to live comfortably. Lose all your money? Probably not, if you don't lose your private keys obviously. Just do it.
