Title: Is anyone making a new mobile wallet?
Post by: savantguy on May 02, 2013, 12:07:25 AM
So on android there seems to be only really one decent wallet (not a wallet service). However, it does not have encryption or any other advanced features. Does anyone know if one is in the works?

There could be some being worked on. However I don't recommend using Mobile Wallets, what if your phone got stolen?

yeah I understand about if my phone was stolen, which is why I would encrypt the wallet and have the backup on something like dropbox. So if its stolen I could recover the wallet from any pc and the thief could not use those funds. Am I missing something?

It would be secure for sure however the problem is when you change phone or someone steals your phone.

A login system would render it completely useless as well as it's kinda pointless now.

There is no one for iPhone, right?
Does anyone knows why apple rejects wallet apps?

I would think proper mobile wallet software is crucial for ease of use. As a noob I think bitcoins have potential to fast and effortless payments, in internet as well as outside. Just requires proper infrastructure.

I guess security is the main concern.

I am personally not a fan of mobile wallets. There's a lot that can go wrong especially on the permission side of things.

I use a mobile wallet, just like my real wallet. I only keep about ~$60 worth of bitcoins in it. If you treat it as a physical wallet, that you know there is a risk you can lose, then there should be no problems.
