Title: Investment in cryptocurrency
Post by: johny430 on May 23, 2017, 01:39:07 PM
Hello fellow traders! ;)
It happened that I have a large sum of money (about 50k$) which I am planning to invest into a promising cryptocurrency. I have time to wait, I just need its cost to grow at a good rate. I was thinking about investing into Emercoin, as I  have studied them and found that its cost has grown substantially since its launch and there is a number of projects that they are working on, that would increase the price further.
Could you give me your opinion, and if its negative, give me a hint on what better currency I should invest my funds in.
Thanks!

There a lot of promising coins so it is good that you read what you are foreseeing. But for i would suggest dogecoin for a long time investment, i am not affiliated with them but i am just an observer. I noticed it has not increased but it is one of the oldest and still trusted altcoins out there. But you gotta really wait for a long time as it's fame has faded or even yet to become familiar. Ethereum also is the current bloomer and there is still time to invest as it is increasing in high rates.

I haven't heard about Emercoin before so can't give you any suggestion regarding it but there are few things you have to consider before investing in any alt project. Like you shouldn't invest in something that is already in peak price, wait for some correction to buy cheaper. Also you should patiently hold your coins when there is some price correction, you will not make any loss if you don't sell in panic during such dumps.

What I am holding right now are.. LISK, PIVX, GBYTE, ETC and LUN.

50K? Why not BTC? or ETH?. IMO it's better to find a 'strong' cryptocurrency. BTW all the best with your investment.  :)

Hello John430,

The sum of $50K is fairly substantial sum of money and well invested could generate a tidy sum. I don't know your financial circumstances whether this $50K is a tiny percentage of a trust fund that you own or is all the capital you have.  I thinks its important to diversify even if this is a trivial sum for you.

My advice is as follows
1. Build a diversified portfolio of at least 8-10 cryptos with this capital
2. Invest in a mix of established and junior coins with aggressive upside

Core positions: BTC, ETH
Tier 2 names: NEM, Monero, LTC (names from the top 10 coinmarketcap with established histories)
Junior Coins: LBC, XCP, FCT, ABY, MUSIC, GRC

3. Be wary of buying coins immediately after they have appreciated 300% to 500%, the risk of loss increases after a parabolic spike. Also please be aware market cap is not infallible some of the ICO coins may have a large market cap, but they may be distorted by investor hype and bubble mania even though there is no real product.

Make a good decision in investing, choosing a coin that has been reliably tough. It is up to how strong the ownership is until the price really reaches the top.
DGB is likely to increase in the coming months ..

I can say stay away from the currently hyped coins, you will be at a lost once the whale pumper decided to exit.  I would suggest you to study the market and search for an active coin that had not been pumped for a long period of time.  I can tell one and it is a maidsafecoin, though I am not saying you to invest on it, but if you look at maid, it will definitely increase in price.

I suggest to invest your money to this altcoin . Thats my altcoin that I hold and for sure they have potential to increase the price so your money can get interest and profit.
1. Ethereum
2. Dash
3.zcash
4. LTC
5. Monero
6. Ripple
7. Tor coin
8. XRm

I dont have emercoin even this coin also is good and have potential but I think I dont type that so Icant buy. It depends to you what coin you think gives your profit. I suggest you need a lot of research because investing in altcoin is not easy you need to know the whole infomation about the coin you want to buy to know if they have potential or not.

Almost every coin in top 60 is worth investing. Even lower. Look at musicoin, primecoin. Unobtanium. Antshares. Currently i have 34 coins. All going nuts m. Waiting for the next multi billion coin. Don't care about the price swings. We are in a gold rush.

My advice you should often see the market price because the fear in the coin you choose for the future will not be worth it.
You should be able to see which coin movements are often up or down the coins there you notice if at the time of declining coin prices can decrease drastically and vice versa if there is an increase in value will increase the price then the coin that should be your target.

This what people said "use your own due diligence". I will be honest, You are good in analyze some crypto project, dude. What you did in emrecoin is what the investors need to do before throwing their money on the market. Others people usually talk a review, they don't really know or expert on that coin. But you did a depth analysis in that coin. You don't need suggestions anymore, all you need is just beleive in your self.

I'd like to choose the big platform as my investment.

I buy a lot of iconomi and my invesment gets 10x.

Diversify.  Wait for down times in about 30 of the best coins, then buy them, and sell a little at a time when the prices rise, keeping some of the coin  for later gains.

you have picked a terrible time to want to invest in cryptocurrencies! specially if you are new to trading in general or trading altcoins specifically.

right now all of the altcoins are being pumped, and are currently in a bubble. you can still find big rises randomly around the market and join in for short term to make profit but nothing is safe as a long term investment at this point.

I dont think that the prices would settle down any time soon. And btw that what people probbably thought when bitcoin hit 100$ for the first time)

The difference between this and the dotcom bubble may be that the dotcom bubble was venture capital money, being given to people that could create a good business plan.  Much of this is more like money going into capable hands from the people themselves.

Speard it around a bit. BTC, ETH and then some riskier alt coins. Better to diversify for the long run. A lot of gains recently and its just the start, but be willing to hold on for a few years and you should do pretty good.

There are tons of good alt-coin to invest in,
I think one of them is mobilego is one of them if you miss the crowd sale just wait for it in the exchanger I think after a couple of months the price would still pump,
And also try SONM ICO is still on going right now.

Actually, it is better to invest with Bitcoin than any other coins now that it gains its momentum as countries began accepting it. You can also invest in with some big and well-known currencies there like Ethereum or Litecoin. Other alt coins really are good for trading.
