Title: Casascius Coins on eBay Post by: johnniewalker on May 02, 2013, 01:11:43 AM Check out the number of Casascius coins on eBay. I was surprised at the number. Also, I would think they'd be selling for more (considering I sold a blank 5 BTC coin for $121 :). Some of the asking prices I have to laugh at, too. 10,000 for a 10 BTC coin. I wonder too about the safety of sending them. Yes, there is a physical aspect involved (making it safer). But couldn't a customer say they received the coin and there was no hologram on it? I think it'd be pretty important for the seller to establish that while the item is in-transit (as confirmed by tracking), it has its bitcoin value (confirmed via FirstBits on blockchain). Although, I suppose you could take the holo off and redeem it after the package arrives. Something about Bitcoins and eBay/PayPal...I don't think a relationship was ever meant to be.

There's plenty of sane prices, but then you'll find certain things, like iPhones, being sold for thousands above what everyone else is selling them for. It's like they think someone will be dumb enough to buy something for that high. Wouldn't be surprised if it's happened, tho.
