Eth is a strong candidate that he can able to surpass bitcoin but we cant speak as of now even seeing the position of ETH on the market. Maybe this thing would happen that people would switch or make eth as an alternative when bitcoin do have already problems regarding confirmation times. Only when it will be considered and used as an alternative to bitcoin in future. And also when different countries uses ETH blockchain for transaction on a larger scale but all this to happen we will have to wait for much longer time.
