Title: Issues with Monero GUI Client
Post by: bitstomake on May 24, 2017, 02:07:51 PM
Hello,

I tried to boot up my Monero GUI wallet and it wouldn't connect and kept crashing.  I attempted to use the 25 word mnemonic seed to open it on mymonero.com - however to import all previous transactions I had to pay 1 monero which is too expensive, so the balance is 0 on mymonero.

I then downloaded the latest Monero GUI client which doesn't crash, however just stays "Disconnected".  It displays the correct balance, but I can't send the coins anywhere because it remains disconnected.  It attempts to connect to node.moneroworld.com:18081

Whats the best way to retrieve this wallet so I can get it on a web based wallet?

Thanks

do you have most recent one? MONERO V0.10.3.1 - WOLFRAM WARPTANGENT (https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/62e1mc/mandatory_upgrade_monero_01031_wolfram/)

I do..  Could it be that it will take a very long time for the blockchain to update because I haven't logged in for so long?  And thats why it says Disconnected?  If I left it on for 24 hours would the blockchain update and then I can Connect?

Does this error message from the daemon mean anything?

2017-05-24 16:18:58.565   4664   INFO    global   contrib/epee/src/mlog.cpp:145   New log categories: *:WARNING,net:FATAL,net.p2p:FATAL,net.cn:FATAL,global:INFO,verify:FATAL,stacktrace:INFO

It means you have a very old deamon
. It should be version 5. I would get the latest version of the deamon (see edit 3 below) from https://getmonero.org/downloads/ (https://getmonero.org/downloads/) and make sure the network is fully synchronized. Then run a status on the deamon the output should look like this

Code:
Height: 1317436/1317436 (100.0%) on mainnet, not mining, net hash 69.65 MH/s, v5, up to date, 8(out)+0(in) connections, uptime 5d 3h 23m 29s
.

Edit 1: Please note the higher hashrate and V5.
Edit 2: You may have an old deamon running and the GUI is connecting to the old daemon <--- Not likely

Edit 3: It is likely the deamon is up to date but is syncing very slowly.  So I would suggest to allow it to fully synchronize with the network first before upgrading it.  It is at a very early part of the network in the synchronization process so it thinks it is still in v1. It needs some time.
