Title: lost encrypted wallet backup, but have an older back up of that encrypted wallet
Post by: The Dude on May 25, 2017, 10:47:15 AM
So long story short something happened to my most current backup :-[, but I still have a backup of that encrypted wallet, but a few coins were sold after that backup was made. Does that matter at all?

I am almost done loading up the blockchain, I see my wallet and the amount I last had in it. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

If you have the wallet.dat (assuming bitcoin core), you should have the private keys, so you should be okay assuming the backup isn't several years old - 99% likely. Make another backup (or two) now though to be extra safe.

If you sent some of the coins, some remaining ones could have gone to a change address but it is likely in the wallet.dat too. (And if it is a recently created HD wallet, even better.)
