So, according to coindesk, chat app Kik will launch an ico and it's own token on ethereum blockchain.

It seems to me that more and more legit projects are being built, and eventually the poor quality ones will start to get less and less attention and funding because people will be too busy investing into legit ones. This one and the one of Brendan Eich ( mozilla cofounder, javascript inventor ) is proof that legit, mainstream and known people started to use ICO as a way of funding, while trying to build sustenable ecosystems on ethereum blockchain.

Yep, mainstream media is aware of Kik's project that will be deployed on ethereum public chain.

When a lot of blockchain-irrelevant companies issue their own tokens, the bubble will be out of control.

Well their token will potentially be usable by the 300mil active users they have for different stuff on their platform, so it won't be like most of the icos where they gather millions for almost nothing.

I have to say their whitepaper looks pretty professional.

To be fair, unless it solves an existing problem, it's better off just being made a generic token (like what's possible with Bancor). Waiting to see more details before judging though.

That will be when the bubble will actually burst. In this case, because of the large userbase, the token might have some traction and gain value.
But if all internet companies start issuing tokens, people will just stick to using BTC/fiat.

And the Chat App is using ETH. It's an extra functionality that it is pushing ETH to conquer the crypto space

Yes it looks very good, must be some very good designer that made it.
It will be blockchain relevant soon, they will issue tokens to their users as a reward. They plan on making 'kin' the biggest crypto currency that exists, so it will be worth your money to invest in them.
