Title: CEX.io vs Kraken
Post by: BTCXRPTalk on May 26, 2017, 12:41:51 PM
I can buy Bitcoin on Kraken for 2466 $ and the selling price on CEX.io is 2640 $.

How is it possible that there's such a huge difference?

Can I just buy on Kraken and sell on CEX.io?

Yes that is what you call margin trading. Buy bitcoin at an exchange where the price is low and sell bitcoin at an exchange where the price is high. You have to keep in mind that the exchanges also have a fee and limit the amount you can trade. You can upgrade your trading limit by getting verified with KYC.

Wrong term.  The correct term is arbitrage.  Margin is trading with credit.

Yes when you take the opportunity of different price from place A to place B it is called arbitage (arbitage market, arbitage volatility)
And yes you can do this, in fact many people do it and not only with cryptocurrencies. But as mentionned before, be sure to include the fees and limits in your calculations

Just like it has been rightly stated to mean margin trading but you also need to be fast about it and do the calculations also putiing into consideration the amount of time of confirmations we have these days and even the transaction fees involved that by the end of the process which might run into hours due to factors beyond your control one can end up making loss and even be stuck with it leading to a waste of time and energy.

If you are not fast then you will lose some oppurtunity on that price difference and also take proper precaution since conformation have little delays by these days maybe you will caught up if you hit by badluck.

But anyways for that goodluck for arbitrage trading mate.

Arbitrage trading is only effective with bots anyways. Theres too many scripts running arbitrage in bitcoin its ridiculous. You have to watch prices on different exchanges 24-7 if you want to even have a chance against bots.

Yes, that's a good opportunity for arbitrage. Whatever the reason, but CEX always offers the highest rates both for btc and eth to sell. I don't know exactly about the fees, you should check it.

You could - but bear in mind withdrawal fees, plus the fact that it takes a good hour for bitcoin to confirm, by which time the price might have moved.
