Title: Stuck transaction chain
Post by: ElCapitan on May 26, 2017, 03:02:56 PM
Hello everyone,

Firstly let me state I'm an idiot and I really hope someone will be able to help me with the mess I've made.

I use Coinb.in and have a chain of unconfirmed transactions, the first of which is:

2f48368d3b139f215fa78ff9847b9a2100884ce5f2afaa503922e4584585b9d7

Coinbin allows you to specify the fee and an optional donation which I usually remove.

[Idiot mistake 1] In error I set the fee as 0.0001 which is obviously far too low and resulted in an unconfirmed transaction.

The transaction was only for a low amount, around £10, so I purchased more BTC and sent the transaction again with the correct fee and this was subsequently confirmed, happy days...or so I thought.

Following this I trawled through articles to see whether the unconfirmed transaction would eventually cancel itself and I couldn't find any clear information regarding this.

[Idiot mistake 2] At 3am I stumbled across an article which seemed to indicate that if I "spent" the remaining change in my wallet with a correct fee the unconfirmed transaction might go through, so I sent the remaining funds to myself, to the same wallet, with an appropriate fee. This didn't work, for reasons which are probably obvious to 99% of BTC users, but again I didn't care due to the low transaction amount.

However, I have since tried to send other transactions and they're now also unconfirmed and my understanding is that they are part of a chain which leads back to the original TXID above.

I have tried viaBTC's accelerator to budge this original transaction but it doesn't recognise the TXID.
BTC.com's accelerator only accepts payment through Alipay and the app available in the UK is mostly in Chinese and doesn't appear to accept bank cards from countries outside of China.

So I'm stuck and would really appreciate any assistance anyone can give to fix this mess!

Thanks in advance  :)

Send a P.M. to quickseller or macbook-air. They are mining at F2pool they can include your transaction in the next block for a small fee/maybe even free.

I tried viabtc too but no luck. Like you said it says the transaction doesn't exist. It is acting weirdly lately, dunno why.

Also check the numbers here before sending anything next time: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

Thanks mindrust, I messaged both quickseller and macbook-air but haven't received a response from either as of yet. If anyone else on here has access to a mining pool please get in touch  ;D
