Post by: Chevas Regal on May 27, 2017, 05:16:03 AM
Event : http://www.sofascore.com/team/tennis/zhu-lin/45584
I place a bet on Lin Zhu .

Outcomes:
Lin Zhu lost first set , Then she won second set , and in third set the opponent was retired so who win? I guess Lin Zhu.

So, my bet should be a win? or a cancel?

please let me know.

If the event was canceled, probably it would be continued on a different day. If Lin Zhu was to continue and is considered the winner of that match in the bracket or something, it should've been a win. I don't know, I'm just guessing.

Lin Zhu is the winner. Same time different gambling websites have different terms and conditions based on the event. In certain case based on the number of points played the match will be considered cancelled or the match gets postponed if the event is stopped due to some weather conditions.

Sofacore and flashscore clearly says Lin is the winner, but cloudbet cancelled my bet. Is it fair? I had similar situation in past and if a player gets retire then the other player is the winner.

Not fair in my opinion.

If someone retired it's a bit like a forfeit. If you forfeit a game in any game i don't care whether it's basketball soccer etc. although it is very rare that would mean the guy who retired would lose and the player who didn't wins.

Especially if you take into consideration that Zhu was up 4-1 on the third set, she was basically set to win but of course i can't say that with certainty. But if they just say it's cancelled and not give you any profit, it doesn't make sense.

This says that the umpire decides who's the winner, so there should be a clear winner either way. But that's not cloudbet's rules so...

It is not about being fair or unfair. You need to read the Terms and Conditions of the gambling website you choose to bet on. For retirements in tennis,  different books apply different rules. Some pay out for the win, whilst others void and cancel bets if a retirement occurs. In this case, Cloudbet voided the bet, which is part of their rules. Sometimes it goes in your favour and other times it doesn't, but rules are rules.

Where did you find this rule? I looked at cloudbet's sportsbook rule for tennis and it says that all bets will be only voided once a player retires before finishing the 1st set. I'll quote everything.

One full set must be completed for money line wagers to stand. If less than 1 set is completed, all money line wagers will be void. The winner of the match is the participant declared the victor by the umpire of the match.

If a player retires before the 1st set is completed, all wagers on the match will be considered void.

@Chevas.Regal Your bet is definitely settled wrong here go visit the site and click the question mark logo on the bottom right then submit a ticket to their support so they could regrade your bet to a winner.

There should be rules about this in your sportbook. Contact support if don't.

If was directbet your bet would be a win

Its a tricky situation cause the match wasn't over. She retired so probably that was an alternate event. As much I hate it I don't think they are wrong. A very long time ago I had played on a cricket match my team was loosing but suddenly the match turned draw, and opposite team won. But then they told me I did not loose money cause it was a entire different event. Plus they have clarified it's in their rule to. For that very purpose and since they refunded your money I do not think it's a scam. But then I don't play on tennis you could wait for a different opinion and make the best call.

I don't think a scam accusation is needed, you didn't mention to us that you placed the bet while the match was on going. They're right it's in their rules. If you only lock the bet pregame then the outcome should be a win.
