According to my research and readings I've done on some threads, I therefore conclude that trading is much better than mining especially if you are a newbie, because mining will requires a lot of time and investment in money. Some people say that you will need to invest millions before you cant be successful in mining bitcoins. So I would suggest that you should just go to trading and buying bitcoins rather than mining it.

if mining btc is what you mean, then trading is definitely very much profitable. in mining you are lucky if you will reach ROI but if you use your money in trading you can even double or triple your money in a short time period.

You can strike it rich with trading in just a day. However mining gives you a more secure passive income, which is what many people are after. Both can be practiced together and combined. You can farm money for mining by trading first and then when you mine enough money and see a good opportunity for X2 through trading use the coins you mined and get rich.

When you start in the cryptocurrency world, you should start learning the market and decide which option is best for you. Both options you can lose or make money, always a question of timing and the risk you are willing to take.

Mining is too hard for common folk now and trading is like gambling. You can earn much fast, you can loose much fast.
Thats it, nothing more to tell about it. If you want more about why mining is for professionals now, learn about it some before investing in mining equipment.

Both of them still profitable as long as you know how to do, but if you are late miners or dont have hardware to mine it's better to trade

Advantages of mining
1. You can mine everyday and forever
2. Everyday you have small profit, after ROI (hardware)

Disadvantage of mining
1. Electricity Cost
2. Wrong decision to mine a coin
3. Wrong hardware
4. Follow/buy hardware to increase your hash speed

Advantages of trading
1. No need to buy hardware
2. If you get profit, it will give you big profit

Disadvantages of trading
1. Risky for noob
2. Price volatility
3. Need to read news
4. No small profit after ROI

One might lose less than the other, but I doubt that either would be profitable. Sorry, for being so negative, but some newbies are so naive, thinking they can earn money with no knowledge and no skill.

For me trading is more profitable because I haven't really tried mining. In trading you can monitor everyday and even profit everyday if that's what you prefer but just make sure the coins you are putting your money on are active coins, mining they say is good too but electricity cost would be a major problem if so.

I agree, you profit more in trading and not worry about the cost of your electricity though there's a lot of possibilities in mining too though.

If you don't have the equipment for mining, then trading is much easier. You can trade with just a smartphone.

If you got a lot of money and willing to spend it for buying mining equipment then go for mining, but you need to buy fancy tools to get profit from mining, to do trading you need to have skill and you need to keep on updating your news, so you to spend your time to do trading and the profit from trading is not predictable

If you will really invest a lot of money by buying some fancy equipments to make electricity cheap may it be solar and a good mining rig that would give you ROI better, then mining will be more profitable but if you will invest money that is not that big, Ill say that trading is more profitable but you need to have skills in analyzing and predicting to do trading.

Trading is better because it requires no initial investment

Title: Re: mining or tranding?

Trading is much better. To start mining you need to have a lot of money to buy the equipments and you will need to pay expensive electricity fees, because it consumes a lot.

With the money you would use to buy the mining equipments you can start trading and the only taxes you will pay are the exchange fees and I'm sure it's much more cheaper than the electricity fees.  :)

But you need to training first how to trade or you will waste too much money.

Both have pro and cons. IMO, trading is more risky but more ROI. Mining may take more time,  but not sure about mining nowadays. Ermm.. :-\

I would combine it, because by trading you can get a good profit by spending not so big amounts of money. Buttt if you have a good rig which would cost you some money + electricity is not so expensive, than you can also mine. By combining those too you would be happy ;D

Trading.

For a start, you dont need to have huge technical capabilities or starting capital. Hell, even if you just became typical hodler, next couple of year will be profitable for you. There are many relatively low risk/high reward options then. Including lending bitcoin to others on interest or getting educated in technical analysis and potentially increase you share without further fiat investment.

There is very little reason for an individual just starting out to focus on mining in 2017.

i do both i have the best of both worlds. My rig is 5 x gtx 1070 and hardware cost about 2.5k gbp(3200 usd). but i enjoy it more than trading, the rig was interest free as well for a year. electricity about 60 usd a month.

i invested about 800 dollars of cash as well out of this I bought a DASH mining contract for 475 dollars from Genesis, get about 2-3 usd a day from it, for 2 years.(so say 1.4k usd over 2 years hopefully) . i would have been better off holding it as btc but it was to stop temptation as it was all new to me.

My rig generates about 12-22 usd depending on coin, a day. i convert to btc or hold depending on how i feel.(if continues will pay for rig in 6 months). some coins are great return daily but a lot will mine them and  if not much demand holding might lose money so sell to btc.

So just from mining i get 14-24 dollars a day which is not bad for me.

My trading is hit and miss i stick to the mainstream stuff as been burnt a few times in past, and there are no get rich quick ways.

Since i started in march i have about 1200 usd invested , i have withdrawn about 350 usd for costs to mine and convert to FIAT, still a big loss so far but give it another 6 months.

I'm learning a lot from this site, though I haven't posted for a while. I just kept on reading on some tips on what to do. I think I will try trading but I have to learn and read a lot about which coin I would put my money on too.

Mining is more complex because it requires more expertise and a higher investment. While trading also requires expertise (to a certain extend) but you can start with any budget.

There's the possibility of loosing everything you invest with trading but returns are also much higher.
Mining has slow returns and require a good amount of investment at the start.

Out of the mining and trading I will prefer to use trading for the earnings purpose .
If you have the cheap or free electricity then I will suggest you to made the mining as the income source in your life but probably in the most of the countries the electricity in not cheap , so most of the people are using trading job for income .
Here trading needed to get study in better way and also need experience of one to two month that how the system of the trading ( day trading , Bitcoin only trading , altcoin trading ) is working and how to choose the better coin for the investment .
All will depend upon your experience in this field .
If you started the trading then I will suggest you that never get panic of down in the price and don't sell until you get profit .

They are both risky businesses however I think trading so long as you know what you are doing could be better.

Just do your own research before throwing your money around.

Yes I agree with you

If you want to invest more
But if you want a little just need to be a miner only.

Trading is extremely risky, especially for newbies. Most of the altcoins (such as Ethereum, Nemcoin, Litecoin, and Ripple) are at all time highs, and there is a strong chance of a correction occurring. So if you trade in altcoins, there is a very strong chance of incurring losses.

one thing to remember trading is a zero sum game for every dollar you make someone has lost a dollar. traders think they have skills but a lot is just luck.. Holding seems a good bet in these times, and mining allows you to do that, you also add more to the whole industry than making a few bucks.

i enjoy mining much more than trading. my roi will be a year but a year of learning, understanding the supply and demand waves, and a chance to feel part of something, even if i don't become millionaire.

If you trading you should be mining too to support your coin. You can mine a coin then trade it. Best idea is mine for profit then to make even more pair that currency you recently minined with another that you were planning to buy anyway and maybe get a good osirrd trade better then if you paid with Bitcoin. It's up to you to do the research as to when it's better to mine or simply buy.

Around 2014 I mined a lot with big computers and it was very profitable. Just did around 0,25 btc every 3 days, became shit after a few months and was out of ideas. Sold all the hardware and went trading. Bought a lot in the dip and just keeping it. In my opinion mining is good to learn how a coin works and if you belief in it buy it for the long term!

Someone here with good tips to invest for the long term? What tools you use to do your research? I have some tools and ideas but want to scale it up a little bit and betting on more horses!  :o

mining is great when the price is high you can hedge your bets if unsure, mine the coins instead of investing.

Do you think is more profitable mining or trading? Advantages and advantages of anything.
It all depends, how much money you got and how would you more like to earn money. By mining you earn your money passively, i mean you do not have to do anything while your computer is mining and make you money. But that solution is really hard and does not pay off, unless you invest a lot of money. But on the other hand there is trading, which is by my opinion better. You can start with less and move forward from there. At the end its your choice.

I think mining certain altcoins can certainly be profitable but it requires quite an investment and alot of knowledge to get started and be profitable. Trading on the other side also requires investment and knowledge but it's a lot more accessible and easy if you get used to it.

It actually depends on you , and your situation. If you like to hardware and set things up and no matter what like to make money and (have some money ) i would say go for mining , if you don`t like risk very good for you . However you like the researching and reading news regarding block-chain technologies and ( have some money ) go for trading, never forget trading is not easy as it seems. You may make some money but one day you may have to leave some of  yours too.  ;D
Do it the one suits your mentality and character.
Peace out  ;)

This time mining is not profitable. But if you have some knowledge in treading you can earn  more than mining. In treading you need some knowledge and also need  some money. But treading is risky if you walk in wrong way. But if you have good treading knowledge you can double your money within few days.

I wonder how many traders have quadrupled their money in the last year. That's how much you would have made by not trading. My guess is less than half.
