My Advice is Research, Read, before you invest in Altcoin. That's what newbie need to do to know more about Altcoins. All of traders strategy in altcoin is buy low sell high. Now Almost all of the altcoin is at low price so it's time to buy.

There are many ways to be profitable on altcoins.  If you buying altcoins, you should not enter it with emotions because emotion could affect a lot on what you doing in altcoins to earn some profit. And you need to have a friends before doing a move or action so that it will became good.

this is a great advice. Not all of them have campaigns open at this moment.
If you feel like investing in some stabilished and not so expensive coins search Stratis, nem, golem or waves. Some others are good too. My advice is to go with stratis. Do you due diligence first anyway.

I agree with the above, you need to do your research
And decide which information is reputable and which is not

Everyone is going to give you advice on the currency they
Have invested in and tell you its the best out there.

I assume you have bitcoin already?

This forum is an aladins cave of information,
You just have to sort through it.

It could have been allot better if you had explained what you want to do with altcoins. There are many strategies and details if you want to mine altcoins, for investments you need to do research that which one will be profitable with respect to your plan, long term holding or short term selling, if you want to trade then again you have to research and buy altcoins.

yeah the best one is sell high buy low, like everyone is doing, there isnot other strategy, when you see a dump sell then when the dump end buy again like it is right now, this si the bottom for bitcoin buy now you won't regret it, if you are talking more about altcoin, it's harder because altcoin are more pump and dump than bitcoin, but you ccaan buy cheap altcoin without much risk and wait for the pump 2x-10x, then sell and repeat with another scam coin, this work good for me

Hold a coin for a long term. A very very long term and soon you will earn x10 of your capital. Trust me. I have been experienced this everytime I open bittrex lol :D otherwise, I can give you some specific names: Ethereum, ethereum classic, byteball

Okay as newbie, the best tip is buy low and sell high. Don't buy coins whe  it's uptrend, only buy when it's down trend and only buy in stable level of an altcoins for all time price.

The best strategy is to know your coins.  Do not invest blindly, do not be persuaded by trollbox chats.  Always do your diligent reaserch.  If you want to have a nice return, look for ICO that has a solid team behind it.  Either hold it or sell it at a glance of profit, it is up to you.  In short, always know what you are trading and never be too emotional.

For beginners like you do not need to invest in altcoin first, if you do not know the basics of trading play in altcoin. I'm sure you'll regret the risk you get, because I'm thinking of investing in altcoin and starting trading on the market, it takes someone to tell you how to start a good trading, so you do not get caught up in the altcoin that Makes you lose Because of your own carelessness.

First and foremost find out the most suitable exchange that suits you and plan on the coins you are willing to invest, you can look at the ANN thread here and can make a decision, just go to their official slack channel and follow what their plans and developments are and the volume of trade is also important,so all you have to do is take some time, select your exchange and decide the rest as i said above.

I think the most reasonable way for newbie is to watch and observe the alt coin market, there are so many coins that circulate, find the one that you think have the great potential to make you earn money, if you still have no idea, then just look for the top 5 coin in coinmarketcap, see the demands of the coin and the trade volume and also big project that will happened

Make sure you only invest what you can afford to lose because alt coin market is very volatile and very risky to play

I advise that before you invest in an altcoin make
some research to that coin and if you think that it
has a potential in becoming succesful then start
to invest. The coin that I am currently using is
Expanse and I am sure that this coin will achieve
success in the coming years.

Altcoins are not profitable for newbies. What I mean is you study the market first, there are countless alt coins and it is hard to trust a single. They follow pump and dump strategy and can become zero value at any times. So it is advisable to you that you should go for bitcoins trades and gambling which is far away profitable than alt coin. Im not saying that you don't do alt coin but what I'm suggesting is read about them first, try out some exchangers sites for their prices. Look out the trends of buy and sell on the exchanger sites. This will give you clear idea. The alt coins are traded like at fraction seconds but it is very hard to believe which one will profit you most.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)
I will suggest you to understand the market of the Bitcoin and altcoin that how do they work in the sites and how can we make deals and how a coin/altcoin fall to dead or increase up in the market .
So always it is better to get study first and with this same time you should earn small small amount of the earnings from the faucet , signature campaign & social media signature campaign .
So in this way you will get knowledge in better way and then you can make profit in the starting .
I will suggest you to start your trading job in altcoin with the simple exchange that is easy to understand and operate .
For example yobit.net , this exchange is small and easy to handelable .
If get the better experience promote your work at poloniex  , bitrex like big exchange .

Calm and not panicky everything must be lived with patience.
Everybody can do it unless he has greedy and impatient nature that will face losses in this altcoin trade.

Prepare yourself for many different emotional states, which can vary from extreme happiness to sadness mixed with bitter taste in your mouth. This is how crypto can make your day.
*Learn as much as you can about crypto - economy and its rules.
*Learn on others mistakes, and try not to follow proven wrong leads..
*Use this forum(or twitter etc..) as teacher not as a guide!
*Exclude your emotions while trading.
This is in short.

first you need to know what coin  you want to try and you want to invest int, then you need to find out if the coin you are investing is quietly good and many people are investing on it, that would be one of the good tip. Trading is a big thing, but as for me i didnt refer for a newbie to trade to earn, because it requires an experience and a high risk, yes we can earn a lot in trading but we can lose a lot too if we are not familiar on it, try earning in faucet first or try to invest some in trading and learn little by little before you will invest big.

since you are new here I will advise you to start with studying how to trade altcoins first, as that will determine if you will succeed or not. Trading is a game of skills and taking another man strategy my not work for you as you will need to develop your skills yourself. The reason why majority are missing in trading is because they spend much time looking for strategy instead of developing they skills.

I was introduced to alt coins by a friend, he told me to invest in an alt coin when I only heard of Bitcoin. So I took the oppertunity, invested 500 and its now worth 50 times that. After I saw the first rise in my investment I started looking into different alts and I now I have a couple of them.

That is if the development is delivered and/or the coin is on pump.  Though I agree hodl is a way to go if you want to see an exponential growth of your investment in altcoin but the question here is the time when it will happen.  This need patience and right timing so if you plan to hodl start monitoring your coins market the moment you bought them.

Tips I could give you since you're a newbie is research first about altcoins, then pick the top 10 alt with huge marketcap. Decide if you want to go for long term or short term in trading, or you can HODL if you want too. Do your homework first on the altcoins, that's whats important.

Damn straight mate, nothing can be predicted with altcoins pricing yet alone bitcoins, it is a game of chance in the crypto sphere.

For instance a coin that you mined might not be added to an Exchange (Or good Exchange) ever, for a very long time or by chances straight away/good tech, then comes the whole part of Buyers and Miners trying to get the best price on each side, TBH it all comes down to emotions when you have money to spend + the news or hope talked about, learn how to play on feelings and you will fit right in ;)

All those comments are good and you can find a lot of wisdom in them, but take a look around, we are here because it is profitable business. This is our small Wall Street where we can earn money multiple ways, trough gambling , trading, services..Best part it is ease, and if you like to learn then you wont have any problems.
Crypto is maybe even better than Forex because you have more freedom and it is 24/7, it has more opportunities and in most cases you just need to wait, and you will win. (You are on lose only when you sell.)

Don't be panic with FUD by certain peoples to make the coin crashed and don't be panic with panic sell suddenly that's normal in cryptocurrency market. Also make sure before you do any action on crypto market (buy or sell) try to search their ANN thread and track the progress of that coins. What i can say to you as advice is if you want to make a profit off altcoins you either have to invest money into an ICO or catch a project which looks great and start mining their coins as soon as possible. Altcoins can be discovered in a day and get pumped. If you don't want to take the risk then buy a trading bot with a proven track record like gunbot.

But don't get greedy when you make a profit, sell the coin off for bitcoin or USD again asap.

Bots are not smart and can cause you big problems, that requires lot of experience so i wouldn't this recommend for newbies. Especially if you don't have bigger bag.

don't put all your money in one place.
Yes i was few time in this situation and i tripled my holdings and this feeling can't be compared with ordinary smart trades. This is gamble but whole this altcoin world is one big gamble anyway.

guys, not causing FUD, I actually invested in some of these.

Various projects were evaluated and this guy compiled some here which he found to be the worst.

Includes mentions to the Golem (GNT) token, seems like it has no value attached to it, he mentions ICN, MLN, GNO, SingularDTV, Round, DigixDAO.
Just check it if you feel like it matters.

Hope I am helping someone here.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)

the most important thing that you need to know about altcoins and investing in them is timing. if you can master it then you will make a lot of money and if you ignore it you will lose a lot of money without even noticing!

you need to know when to go in and when to get out.

when you see everyone is screaming "BUY" "to the moon" ,... that means it is already too late and you should take that sign to either dump if you have any and if not to stay away.

and when everyone is saying "DEAD" "DUMP" "what is happening and why is it red" that can be a good chance to buy in some situations.

Dun buy on hype.

Research for undervalued or over-dumped coins, this involves lots of time and effort.

Check whenever the alts you are interested has a good dev team or active community, joining their Slack or Telegram is one example.

Don't afraid on losses, the recovery in Alt world is far quicker than real stock market.

Patience and luck -  in the ALT world even the shittest coin could be pumped for no reasons or the more anticipated coin could be dumped as well.

What strategy are you referring to? You are not mentioning trading of altcoins. You are not mentioning altcoin services either. Or altcoin mining.

Anyway, explore more about altcoins through this altcoin discussion section and you will be enlightened what you are really looking for about altcoins.

Welcome to the altcoin world and you should not have any problems with alts as they aren't any different from the way you use bitcoin
Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)
My strategy for profit is to buy tokens during an ICO while they're cheap or buy altcoins from bounty hunters/weak hands before they are listed on a big exchange, good luck.

Yes, you can ask what exactly you are looking for altcoins? You want to buy altcoins or want to earn free altcoins or want to start altcoin mining etc. if you give full description means we can help you how much we can. Any way you want to earn altcoins means you have many ways like joining the signature campaign and altcoin trading and joining any new airdrops, etc.

The simple philosophy used by beginners is to buy cheap and sell high prices. Everyone can say that, and everyone will be easy to learn.

When dealing with the real market, altcoin is very difficult to predict movement. Very difficult to determine where the lowest price, and when will reach the target.

That's not enough to say. Practice is more important.

As a newbie to Altcoins, you should research a lot, and set the explicit goal for your gain of altcoins. With the exact strategy of your own, you must buy at a lower price and sell at a higher price.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)

Dont believe what some guy tells you on twitter. Or even on bitcointalk forum. It is proven to be not true.

So many Legendary members with such crude low level advice.

A more intelligent answer is don't assume anything you read on bitcointalk or twitter is true....check it out yourself. Plenty of truth tellers on both platforms, its discerning the wheat from the chaff.

I would say if you want more generalised advice I would say there are two major ways to play crypto currencies.

1. Chase every fashion, twitter release, trend and momentum you see and jump onto it. The assumption being they will all crash to nothing later anyway so just ride the wave and get back into btc. Very stressful and forget about sleeping.

2. Research, research, research and when you see the project that shines and people haven't really caught onto it trust in your instinct and invest. Then hold until either the price rises or until your original thesis changes. Personally I would say this is the way to get rich without stress.

You may go to Marketplace (altcoins) section in this forum and then go to Bounties (altcoins) section and browse over the different threads. Regarding trades? Buy those that are cheap and then hold. How do you know a cheap coin? Mostly cheap coin are coin they the value is below the ICO price. Most coin strive to stay above this initial value. So most investment on these coin there a likelihood of attaining a value above it soon. Also there are some coin that are cheap and may never come up. It is better to research on such project or rather let the cheap coin be on the top 100 on the coinmarketcap.

I agree, you shouldn't invest or start with trading if you're not sure or don't know what to do yet. There are risks in investing and/or trading, and there will always be a chance for you to lose some money. So unless you really know the coin that you will buy or invest in, I suggest not to do so yet since you're just a newbie. Also, never invest an amount of money which you can't afford to lose. There will always be a risk.

I guess the best advice that I can give for you is to research a lot first before deciding what to do, because there's a lot of things that you can do with altcoins. Invest, trade or earn it from a signature campaign, research on those things first.

Simple tips for buying an altcoin before entering or buying any altcoin make sure that the coin have a community to support their project and don't buy when you see the price up just buy and in the deep when you see the token at lower price that's is the right time to buy.

Always analyze whether the coin you want to buy has a good team or discussion about the coin then look at the price of the coin and estimate whether the coin will go up or down, if the price of buying a coin is low then immediately to buy it and if the price is high wait until the price drops.

Careful, you can be banned for posting referral links. Even that alt you are promoting can be banned with so many people promoting it.

On alts, be patient. Take your time to read and learn before even buying anything. Do take notes and see if your predictions were correct. Never go all in. Never use emotion. Be diligent and always keep sharing!

Stay humble and just read every details that they put here.
Don't believe everything they say. Try to research on your own and make your own conclusions about it.
Example are new altcoins. They are the ones who are most hit by doubts of the users here. Thinking they are real or are they scam. You might want to read whitepapers to broaden your knowledge about them.

If you want to trade.
the main thing you should know is read the traffic scheme.
But that I think is difficult for a beginner like you.
there's no way you'll focus on a single coin instead.

tell me sparingly, you should learn first before you dive on crypto, you learn can be from youtube, book or from this bbt forum. The more you understand the faster you succeed for trading.

Getting altcoins as early birds always worked for me. What I mean with this is simple, I buy altcoin in the pre sake phase of ICO and forget about it at least for two months. I do keep watching the price in between though, but when it goes up and it will for sure as compared to pre sale price then I will sell out the coins and voila big profits.

Another strategy as early bird is to get as much as coins you could from the bounty campaign and airdrops. These are very profitable because you almost get everything free of charge here. So any price after the coin launch is profit for you.

Since you're new to altcoins better to have proper readings to gain some knowledge that you can use here.
You can start by choosing low value coins but have a good coin circulation. Analyze carefully each coins and you can start trading. Always remember, when in trading think logically and don't panic when you see the exchange in red. And always buy in dips and sell in peak.

good suggestion for you: develop your account and join altcoins campaigns, you will be able to understand how altcoins world. Good luck :)
this is a great advice. Not all of them have campaigns open at this moment.
If you feel like investing in some stabilished and not so expensive coins search Stratis, nem, golem or waves. Some others are good too. My advice is to go with stratis. Do you due diligence first anyway.
If there is campagin out there you could still try other signature campagin where there are new project ICO that is new for the market. I get you point that not all altcoin have an active campagin that could explain the project of their ICO and token. But still there is a lot of other project. And in terms on trading you could check the stock of an altcoin or the volume if you want to try in investing on trading.

The two things I'd suggest: remember price can go down as well as up - quite violently with altcoins. Don't buy into a pump, and really, if you look at it with detachment the pumps are pretty obvious. For example the Bitcoin Cash pump was obviously out of Korea, such concentration in a relatively narrow section of the market (basically 2 exchanges) should ring alarm bells. Avoid that and you're halfway there.

Taking a calculative risk is very important because if you invest in any coin than chances are that instead of going up generally such coins are dumped badly and it may not rise and you will lose your money. Its better you invest in some known coins where chances of making profit is higher which is more secured and almost guaranteed.

The world of altcoys is a special world of the digital currency. Each coin of altcoyins originated in their individual conditions and these features need to be known before investing in these coins. Invest in a few coins to reduce the risk of loss. You need to know about the capitalization of each coin, its course and movements in the last period. This information is available here: https://coinmarketcap.com.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good old coin to mine that is still kind of profitable?
I think Ethereum, Litecoin is a very profitable altcoin to invest and Ethereum is also profitable for mining.

I am trying to mine some ETH now, I haven't thought much about LTC recently. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm still also a newbie when it comes to altcoins. But i watch videos on youtube especially when it comes to trading and what coins is best to hold. I also make research and read blogs about it. So my suggestion is surf over the internet about altcoins and watch videos so you could learn more.

I'd suggest that you check out the top listed coins on exchanges. You can refer here: https://coinmarketcap.com/
After you picked a coin that you think that suits your taste then make a research about those coins before you engage on buying. Researching is very important because you will know more about the coin that you want to hold and on the long run helps you decide if it is a good coin or not.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)
I must say that you should read and learn as much about Altcoins as you can as that information will be really useful for you at beginning. After that go and check the markets by reading data of the rates of 1-4 months and check if you see any changes in the rates. If the rates is mostly increasing then you should bear in mind that the rates will continue increasing. But not only that, you should also continue reading and researching about the particular Altcoin before investing any money. You may also notice the fees because if you're new to trading then fees can be somewhat unbearable at first but as you start gaining some good profits then you will be good at that. Last but not least, experience is always better then blindly following strategies.

The investment advice is the same as in any other field: don't invest more that 30% of money you have in one project/ one altcoin or one currency, etc. Diversification is the king.

Something I've leaned about startup investing: investors give money to 10 startup and best case scenario only 1 of them will fire up. So, they buy a package, not one thing, hoping 1 out of the package will cover all the expenses. So, don't put all eggs in one basket. And don't overestimate your chances. It'll make you go crazy and upset all the time. Investing is more like giving money away. None can tell you what's gonna happen. Kind of a lottery.

Since you are a newbie to Altcoins, I suggest that you really need to search through the internet first of all about alt coins. The meaning of it and what benefits, usage, advantages and disadvantages of this organization. Second, you really need to search the types of altcoins. Read more blogs about each and every alt coins you encountered. It will really help you to know their purpose. After all the research and readings you can now decide on what alt coins you will invest.

The main and the key thing before investing , mining or anything else is to explore the theme, gather all the facts about it and dive deep into the atmosphere of crypto - by doing these you will provide yourself with the core understanding and this will rise your chances to do well in altcoins.

Read read read and learn learn learn. Then ask many many.u questions. Do not take what devs say right to heart if they sound suspicious question them. A good coin has a Dev who is active and then answers your questions. If they abois them be careful.
Take it slow as well don't forget diving head first into deaths jaws.

First and foremost you need to conduct your own reasearch of what is the best altcoin that will suit you best. Asking for other members advice is good but you must remember that at the end of the day the decision would always fall upon you.
If you wanted to take part on trading then you must understand the basic,  buy low and then sell high.
In order to be successful with this you must have patience and do not let your emotions overcome your thinking.
I have another advice with trading : Never lose money, meaning do not sell anything if it is lower with how much you bought it.

for a newbie playing altcoin it's a bit more dificult.
i sugest you focus improving rankings.
so you can follow bounty sosmed and signature camp.

Here is how is started to trade:

1. Regularly read Bitcointalk forum
2. Check coinmarketcap.com for current real coin values
3. Check coinmarketcap.com history of coin you are interested in
4. Check the ANN thread of the coin on Bitcointalk
5. Many coins have their own blogs/ forums you need to follow to be up to date
6. At start choose coins that are already established and stable
7. Make yourself a portfolio of 3 - 5 coins for start
8. Do not jump in ongoing coin pumps, you never know when it will dump.
9. Make yourself a strategy for coins you will long term invest and maybe 2 gamble coins.
10. I recommend starting with Bittrex
11. Do not instantly sell your coins if they dumb instantly for no obvious reason ( research why)
12. At the beginning its better to aim for small profits like 5% - 10% +
13. Always keep some BTC to react when needed (buy)
14. Start slowly, take your time. 2 month in research and observation is recommended.
15. Always reinvest a share of your profit in your favorite coins and use a share of profit to gamble
16. Do not jump instant in new coins with big investment. If it looks promising to you start low and follow the progress.
17. If you advance and make good experience you could start to invest in icos, but watch out lots of scam around.

^^^ Good luck!

Try to visit coinmarketcap.com you can find all altcoins there after that research about the certain coin you think is good. I suggest look from top 1 to 20 you can check the Ann Thread of each coin here in bitcointalk there will be a lot of talks about that coin about the progress and speculation. After that its up to you to decide if you think that coin is worth buying.

Here are my strategies. I hope these will all work for you. I do not focus on a single altcoin. I diversify my portfolio so that when a single coin will down in value the other one will be the redeeming factor if it is climbing in the charts. If the other one crashes at least my total value will not go with it. Aside from that, I follow my coins in twitter for some updates from their project. And of course, buy low sell high.

My tip is to learn how altcoins work by reading different threads. From there, try to rank up your account by joining different discussions where you would gain experiences and information. As you absorb more information, you would by then learn almost everything you need.

Because you didn't say clearly your goal here, if you want to earn profit (of course) you should try joining campaigns and earn from there. Trading would also be good because it can grow your coins based on your skills and potentials.

I’ve been a junior member last week, but of course before going to a junior member I was once a Newbie. I really don’t know what are those alternative cryptocurrency, when I was promoted to be a junior member and it’s been really hard for me to answer the topics in Altcoin Discussion. Introducing Altcoin to a Newbie is a good foundation, when I was a newbie no one introduces me about the environment of Altcoin, I only know is Bitcoin. To all Newbie’s there who aren’t know about Altcoin and no one else introduces it to you, searching and reading more articles about it will help you a lot.

I would recommend to you the strategies that I usually use to get altcoins and to mine altcoins. I spend bitcoins to buy altcoins on exchanges, most preferably bittrex. I buy when their values are low and sell when their values are high. The only reason I do this, its only that I believe that altcoins are the future of cryptocurrencies. If you apply this strategy, you might benefit or loose with in a few months/years. I also mine altcoins, I use this other user friendly application called minergate, you can also configure one on your PC. I use it to mine monero, ethereum/classic, ltc etc.

I think we all remember how long it must have seemed to turn from Newbie to Junior but that slow progression was good because it forced us to read more rather than just post all the time. Reading is the best and natural way for us to learn. As people ask, and we ask, we all learn from the answers. And then we forgot about ranks and time just happened.

You can be make your own strategy but i recommend is to sell high buy low.when you see a dump sell and the dump sell end buy again like right now.this is the vootom for the bitcoin but that you dint regret doing.its is hard for alt coi s because alt coins nore pump abd dump than bitcoin.you can also buy some cheap coins without taking too much risk and wait for pump 2x - 10x then sell and repeat with another scam coin this works for my research

A good coin has something unique, has a clear goal / roadmap, and doesn't ask for a shitload of money through an ICO before being able to show anything.
A coin does have to be unique. There’s a bunch of altcoins that are trying to become the main competitor against Bitcoin though they can’t really do it if they have no originality. That is why we don’t really see the coins that have Ethereum-based system reaching the top 3 in the charts.
A goal is also something that is needed in a coin, with their main purpose given to the public. If the public doesn’t know what the coin is about then there would be much less things that the community would need to work on.

Not every coin needs a roadmap, considering that they can just release everything that they have once they launch.

See whether the trade is going successful and if it doesn't withdraw your coins and change to other coin.

If you are interested in altcoins, i would study and also maybe join a few bounty campaigns. That way you will learn how they work, what is a good one from a bad one.

When it comes to investing into an ICO, it is the same as any other investment. Research is key. The things i look for are:-

- Good Team - Developers are important, but do not just focus on them. You need a good marketing team and a strong CEO to steer the ship in the right direction and make good decisions, also advisers are important
- Solid white paper - Having a great white paper shows you where they are going, what they are planning etc. If the white paper is strong usually the concept and direction is strong as well. Don't get fooled by fancy looking ones, focus on what is actually written.
- Concept - Is it a good concept? Does it have value and can you see it growing? Is it impacting a certain industry and revolutionizing it?
- Promotion - How are they promoting? I usually stay away from ICO's that have huge bonuses, as it seems to good to be true. Also ICO's that have clearly just thrown a lot of money into having articles written about them.
- Strong social media presence - Shows they are communicating with their fans and are engaged at making this work. If they are creating their own articles, shows they are wanting to achieve something.

lastly a catchy name, helps spread the word out about the company and the altcoin.

I hope these help you and happy investing!

The best strategy for me is you must be equip of knowledge so you'll not end up losing.
Trading and investing in altcoins is kinda risky, you should know what coins to invest and which is good for holding in long term and short term. Knowing also how to read the market movement is a big help. You see there's a lot needed to be consider when you're starting so better to start your own readings now.

First you must do some research for the coin which you need to invest
Then do your technical analysis if you haven't experience of that so you can take that from trusted friends
And my last advice for you after u do that
Buy the dip , Hold then sell the top
With all my best wishes
Good luck

Remember, time is also important, even you don't put any money on Altcoins, your time will be wasted if you happened to join to a scam and dump coins.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)

If you say strategy, I would assume that you want to know howto earn with altcoins.
There are many ways to earn altcoins, you can invest, earn by joining bounties and by earning through airdrops. If you have budget you can spare, you can get altcoins by just investing, no hassles and hard work. But if you want to earn without investing, then try the campaigns and bounties, but you have to look for campaigns that accepts newbies which is hard, or better yet wait till you become fr. member or higher. From time to time, you my also join free airdrops, just monitor the threads and be the first to join if there are any.

There is a lot of altcoins to learn so take it slowly and dont rush. When i start learning about altcoins, i get too greedy and throw in like 0.2btc to each alt coins. Some of them were at ATH and since then, the values of the alt coins have dropped at least 60% to 70% percent. However, do note that these alt coins have great potential, it is just that they are not hype coins and some of them have encountered some difficulties, so the value keeps going down. Do you research well, specially start with the top 20 coins, understand them better first.

Dealing with Altcoins is not  a child play, it requires so much information and technicality is involved in trading them some people  opinionated that you buy low and sell high,  it is not easy like that you just have to learn and  be mentored if possible so as to avoid losing your hard earned investment, my advice  to you is to google search for relevant materials about Altcoins and in addition to this forum thereafter sign up with a reputable trading platform and demo-trade for while after making consistent profits then you can invest.

If you are exactly newbie a recommend you to read a lot of this forum and learn some things about altcoins and ICO's. Lvling your acount here and participate in bounty programs, then you can earn your first altcoins.

You must have several likes before you start to invest. They are:

1. like the proposition - it is simple yet valuable, it tackles real problem and disrupts rusty and dusty industry.
2. like the team - people from that alcurrency or new blockchain team. They seem like they are in for realz, and not just for quick scam bucks.
3. like the price - it still haven’t been pumped crazy high, like many other good coins, and the cap is pretty low too, so there is room for big growth.
4. like the project roadmap or documentation - it says that there will be many releases throughout 2017, so it will grab more attention soon. Or it will be pretty clear it failed to deliver soon (no need to wait for 5 years with this one!)

Good luck!  ;)

You are a newbie, you should find out about altcoin problems in this forum or maybe on the internet, you need to have knowledge of it then you can do. No, don't just ask for just a strategy you must make it yourself mate. If you are planning to invest in altcoins make sure to make some research about that particular coin. Try to look for the devs, market cap, community that supports your coin, supply and many others. In terms of methods just use the basic "Buy low sell high." And you should also choose where you are going for a short term or long term investments. If you are going long term ones I highly recommend those coins that has bigger community.

When I first started, I divide my Bitcoin into three. Three because I will buy 3 best coins that I believe that is a promising coin. But do not just based on your instinct. You have to do a research about the coins that you want to invest. Study how they work, and relate their solution to the problem they wanna solve. Of course you do not want your investment get lost.

Don't make mistakes that most noobs do:

- Don't make any big trades until you get more experienced in the market. Actually, I think it's better if you only test-trade your strategies for a few months, and do big trades only if they succeed.

- Never trade with the money you can't afford to lose! Seriously people! Getting loans and selling stuff to buy alts?  :o

- Buy alts with good future, and hodl them for a while. Don't sell at %20 profit, or you'll regret your choice...

- Always research and improve yourself.

Yes that's true! you should invest what can you afford to lost because investment on altcoins is also a gambling. There are a lot of ICOs now that has a good offer but you must carefully select few of them, search first the background and team behind the project before investing. There are also investors that already success of their investment and some is get scam.

Being new to the altcoin, it can be very taunting as there are 100 or even thousand of possible coins to hold. So you seems to have endless input of information for you to choose. I would recommend to know more about the basic and long term coins that have shown that they can withstand the competition of others and still able to grow and develop better. These coins will be more safe and is good to have a big portion of these to form your base investment portfolio.

My simple advice is just keep on gaining more knowledge and how cam you gain? Just post in some threads and read some of those answers and you can easily widen your learnings about altcoins. There are millions of altcoins are there and not all of them are successful. There are only few of them are successful like ethereum, for me that is the most successful altcoin. So if you wanted to invest on altcoins probably chose ethereum rather than anything else. Join in a bounty campaign to have a lot of coins

I started with altcoins at the beginning of the last year. At the end of the year i lost about 80% of my money by bad trading. I did a lot of pannic trading and almost lost anything. I had luck at the begining of this year, and with some good investments, i got my ballance up with 500% from my initial investement.
So, from this experience, i could advice you to invest only in top 10 maybe 15 alcoins and hold for the beginning. You must have a big experience to be a trader. It can be appealing to trade because you can make more money with less investment but the risk is huge.

Buy bitcoins with all your money or just 70% of your money then the remaining 30% is up to you whether you will some altcoins or invest in ICO's. If your going to invest your money in ICO's make sure to research the coin if it has a good reputation and who is the CEO, developer of the new token. Read the whitepaper on much progress they've made. If all things fail you have save all your assets in bitcoin.

Just do some research and go for the top coins but don't buy altcoins when it is still at the higher price.

I would just focus on doing your own research.

Look into the whitepaper, and the team. The most important thing is to ask yourself why do they need a altcoin? If they don't need one, then it's probably not a good project.

Currently I am looking at Crowdholding if you are wanting names.

Yes.. just like other people said before, be so careful with your investments in this forum, a lot of people will try to make you invest into an ico, and you will probably loss your funds in there, since it is very risky to invest in those projects. But if you want to start trading, buy some guides or search for free information on the internet in trading forums, and try to achieve some knowledge before trading, this will make yourself more secure.

There is nothing wrong with ico, newbie should be accustomed to take the risk to be stronger in improving understanding and keep investing with more logical research, they can start with a small investment. If we talk about trading, then ICO and trading have one the same path, it would be very profitable for them if they have more and cheaper coins before entering the market.

In the beginning, buy Bitcoin, Ethereum or Ripple.

If you want to buy other altcoins, then just spend few dollars, no more than 20$ or less.
Sometimes, the best way to learn fast is to make mistakes... you'll learn and not repeat them again.

Altcoin have been developed specifically to address concerns raised over the future and long-term viability of bitcoin. It can be fun and profitable investment. It is much less popular and is also fit to mined by beginners. For me, there is nothing wrong of digging deeper into the never-ending list of coins that being capitalize on trends as long as you think that it has the best chance of long-term success. But of course, cryptocurrency market is volatile so be aware of the risk because not every coin makes it long-term.

When I was a newbie, all I do is understand about the altcoin I want to invest, read the whitepaper and also investigate the team from the project.
So you can have a view of whether the project has a bright future or not. The point is never be lazy to read  ;D
But, if you want to make a safe investment, I think bitcoin is the best solution.

You need to have a strategy or plan before do that, if you have not one of these requirements, you will not have benefit after "watch the market value" as your said.

My Advice is Research, Read, before you invest in Altcoin. That's what newbie need to do to know more about Altcoins. All of traders strategy in altcoin is buy low sell high. Now Almost all of the altcoin is at low price so it's time to buy.

I agree with the above, you need to do your research
And decide which information is reputable and which is not

Everyone is going to give you advice on the currency they
Have invested in and tell you its the best out there.

I assume you have bitcoin already?

This forum is an aladins cave of information,
You just have to sort through it.

I think, this is the great answer for that question ☺

If you are new I would advise to research coins/projects that seem interesting to you and learn the basics of chart patterns. The alt coin market trends can be very informative and having at least a basic understanding of market cycles can help you not buy in at the top of a market cycle. Saying that, start off investing with small amounts, which will give you "skin in the game" and engage you to follow trends, keep up with the news of the project and not allow you to lose too much if it takes a downturn. After you feel comfortable with this, increase your positions as desired.

Hey there, welcome bro. Actually there is no strategy out here upon dealing with altcoins or with bitcoin itself. Don't make it that very complicated, and follow the general rule "sell high or buy low". Then next for the decision making, your decisions will be depending upon from your researches, studies and observations if the price is low enough to buy or high enough to sell. So make sure that you are doing enough research for your altcoin because you might end up doing some wrong decisions. So there is it! Goodluck.

P.S. don't mind the chat box from some trading sites. You might fall for those guys who are hyping shit coins. ;D

Altcoin is notorious for scam so before using any service, you should know first its official site. It can be difficult to protect oneself against scammers but we have to know some precaution. If the project cannot convince you of its use cases then you should not give them your money. For me, it is good option to investigate more choices, but remember to check reviews and history before choosing any particular exchange.

It is better not to get into ICO for a newbie. Go and research on popular alt coins that has a strong base already. Like ripple, ethereum and many other coins that have been out for years. In stock market, they always say to have your own portfoilo strategy and it is the same as here. I do have my own share of portfoilo strategy and it has been doing quite well.

All it really is is research. Do your own thorough research. Have qualifications.

I've been doing this for a year now and have a special way of vetting ICO's. There's a thread somewhere about it.

As far as what I'm looking into lately, it's NEO, civic (ended), and UnikoinGold.

Because I'm Newbie too i will share the tips to you how to begin in this cryptocurrency.
there's much way to get altcoin. and for newbie I recommend you to join the bounty on this forum.
Bounty are the effective way how to get altcoin. Bounty same as event who create by a developer to promote their project.
and they make the event like a contest and devide them to some part like : social media contest , signature contest , publication contest, translation contest and many others. so i suggest you to begin from the easy part like social media. it's very easy. you just share, like , and repost the fanspage of the developer on facebook or twitter during the ICO. and if the event is over. you will pay by altcoin from the developer. that's the way i can share to you. you can learn step by step on this forum. I think you can be too.

This is very true specially with ico you cannot expect that you will get a huge profit with in days you need to wait and be patient. Also if you are a low risk investor you may choose more stable coins like ethereum, dahcoin or litecoin. You may search the top10 altcoins in google and learn other things in cryptocurrency. If you are high risk investor buy new coins but be careful because there are a lot of scams out there in the market.

Any way goodluck to whatever coin you choose.

I think there's no problem if newbie engage in altcoins because they have a big room for learning bitcoin and that is expectedly happening these days. It gurantees the flows of how altcoin works with them and how important altcoin in their lives. They may familiarize a lot of things with bitcoin but that's worth for the lessons that they'll learn. They don't have to worry about altcoins because it is also decentralized and can also get fiat money soon if they know more techniques.

In my opinion, altcoin is not very important in this bitcoin because altcoin may be just a complement to bitcoin deficiency but although altcoin is not very important, altcoin is useful because it provides an alternative choice for bitcoin users and makes it active and also innovate with new things.
Altcoin actually gives an important role to the BTC,not just a complement but it's important for the continuity of life BTC because the more assets the greater the price of BTC.

Alt coins are not merely compliments to bitcoin or any other currency for that matter. They are digital solutions to real world problems. They should either increase efficiency or provide innovative solutions to problems previously unsolved. Understand them as such and do your due dilligence for areas they can be recipients of such. Coins that fix real problems can be highly profitable in the future emassing market caps that far outweigh what they are currently valued at.

You must focus on your research into coins it is the most important thing. If you know the team and aim of the project are strong then it will perform well.

then check white paper for key dates this will be when price is most likely to increase.

A good opinion, at least I feel unfair. Bitcoin requires altcoin to stay alive. But altcoin is always bleeding and attacked with a rise in BTC prices.
should be when btc has increased then altcoin should rise. :o

You have to be specific if what strategy do you want to talk about. Do some research first about altcoins. We have altcoin discussion here which you are posting this thread and google of course!. Altcoin investment is more risky than investing in a bitcoin. You must invest into a popular coin like ethereum or ripple. Stay away from some dump shitcoin that will only give you a headache

Do lot of readings/research, there are forums, discussion & videos which can help you understand well the altcoins. Once you decided to invest in trading,
invest only in popular coins, be patience, don't be greedy and don't panic when the price dropped. Remember that investment has a high risk, decide on your own.

this advice is very good and yes we should be patience when something is going to be out from our expectation. and like now, with bitcon price is increase, almost altcoin is getting down and its force some of us to cut loss their altcoin to back to bitcoin. but if we continue to learning by reading and research, then i am sure that we can get the important point to still make profit with altcoin and finally we can increase our bitcoin amount. making investment is only if you are sure that the price is in bottom price so you can hold for a while and sell when the price is increase again and be patience like above me said.

If you just know Altcoin, I advise you to use a small capital first to buy it because you must have difficulty in predicting some earnings later and certainly will not be erratic. therefore it is necessary to learn first some kind of coin before doing it.

I agree. Just start with small amount to start up, it doesn't need a huge amount as you still don't know the ways and the do's and dont's.
But don't expect a high profit with that amount but its fine because as the day passes here you will gain experience as well as your knowledge and all will follows.

Altcoins too similar to bitcoin in one or the other way. Bitcoin has got a much increased value compared to the altcoins. Being a newbie to the altcoins is not a big thing. When you have known about bitcoin, learning all about altcoin is simple and the same makes people experiment the benefits associated with it.

You are a newbie to this forum and you are also likely to be new the whole segment of crypto, but once you start reading threads here you'll be understanding everything all the more clearly. Nobody can give you some particular and particularly effective advice on the best or a good strategy here or there at least because we don't know even the term you are or would like to focus on, how much funds you currently have and so on. Start reading the forum, asking specific questions to grasp the point of what's going on, follow news and analysis on crypto and related media and you'll be fine with getting an always better understanding of everything, gradually. It all depends.

Developing your account and research in different ICO's, you need to differentiate the ones that are legit to the ones that are scams, feel free to ask around, check forums also.
If you spot an ICO that you like, do your research and check the website if the ICO developers have one, and then check who the team is behind the ICO.

Treat this like you're going to a war so better you have bullets in your gun so you can survive here. also check the president ceo and developers, they are one of the foundation of a good alt
also support from the community is also crucial on the release of the altcoin
they should encourage and make people trust them , if these things are in an altcoin
you should invest, but also have some luck

Is the team good ? Is the project good for the future ? Yes ? Then you can invest a little bit and save it up very long.

Not a problem if there is someone (newbie) who directly started the world of altcoins. because indeed if someone already understands and understands about what they are doing then the results obtained will be much larger, so do not ever assume the newbie is a person who will definitely get a sad life. The main thing is not about the level, but the strategy they are doing.

If you want to invest in an Altcoin you need to make sure you do good research!
When you research, check the ICO's website, read through the whitepaper ofcourse, study the roadmap of the project and finally but most importantly go through the team of board members and advisors, as they will offer support and update.
Once you do this, you are on the correct road to investing in something good!
Ofcourse you must be cautious of Scammers and Fraudsters. The detection of these kinds will become easier in time.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)
Its just about doing your due diligence and looking at it through the lens of how institutional investors review traditional startups. Solving a problem? Is it a solution? Niche? Good team? Good advisors? product? sweat equity? own equity? bootstrapping? etc. Doing this will allow you to cut out 95% of the shit. From then on you just need to see what the ICO's (post crowdsale) burn rate will be and if the founders are competent.

I would check out (i have an interest in) LTC, ETH, DASH, XMR, ETC, BCN, DOGE, BCC, and EMC. All great teams, whitepapers, they are solving problems, and have potential. But still waiting for the great ALT rocket to shoot back up post fork. We shall see, but it i'm pretty bullish on the ALT side and am looking forward to the up & up.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)

a good strategy in my opinion is to collect all kinds of altcoin while it can and there is still time to collect. if at any time there is one coin price that increases then it can be sold and eventually get a big profit. so do not just focus on one or two coins only. because we do not know how the rise and fall of coin prices in the market.  ;)
If you want to collect all altcoin, how much need to invest? That must be a huge invest, no i think you should not do that. Invest just about 5 altcoin. Choose waise.

You just have to read threads in this forum regarding your concerns in order to be familiar with it. Asking high-rank members are also free so expect that you will learn a lot from them. I am still new to the world of altcoins also but discussions in this forum have helped me improve my knowledge. There is really no definite strategy, it is all about the knowledge and time you invest while studying altcoins. Each altcoins have their own unique features and you will know which will hook your interest by reading feedbacks from other users.

1. Do not follow the herd. Dont buy coins that everyone is buying
2. Make your own analysis.
3. Master Fundamental ANalysis
4. If you are day trading, TA is a must.
5. Have patience.
6. Get ready to loose 70% of your invested money before accepting any success.

Nice advise.I suggest one more for newbie: Find good trend and hold coin in that trend.

I think you better follow bounty campaign so you understand what altcoin is, how to sell altcoin, how to read chart to gain profit, etc. if you start to understand then start investing.
This is a very good way to start with altcoins and also a very good way to be a part of altcoins without having to invest your funds except for your little time and your social media space or signature space or article space. I have earned some altcoins like this which has really made some huge profit and bucks for me at the long run.

As long as they are solid project backing coins, then you can hold for long and watch them grow in value, since you really do not have anything much to lose anyway.

Any new business or even a hobby needs much knowledge. Before deciding whether you want to buy altcoins or mine for certain type of crypto, read more about all peculiarities of cryptocurrency market, find the information about the best hardware for mining, etc.

Compare, for instance, this stuff here:

If you are a newbie, you need to consider some important things to do before to get involved to any kind of business. Don't make a rush to give your money immediately even you are not satisfied the information. Don't give your trust to someone you didn't know. Make sure that you know the official website before to join in an online business. Just refer from person who really got further experienced on it. And also do your own research so that you will know if the business is really good for investment or not.

Collecting all altcoins while you can is never a good strategy and sorry to say, that is more of a very dumb strategy to me. Have you been to coinmarketcap to see the number of altcoins and shitcoins ? You have to be careful the coin you buy and if you are not trading but holding, that should even make you extra careful so you do not end up being a shitcoin bag holder.

If you want to invest in altcoin you should look at the coin, search for information from dev or their site and then make a speculation whether the coin can survive in the future. But if you want to trade you need experience to read the market situation especially to read chart.

Look for the roadmap and plans of the coins,
its okay to ask your friends regarding the coins
but you need to research on your own, and make sure its a good coin
never buy if you like the sound of the coin and some hype always
back your investment with research , it will help you a lot,
look for what company supports it and community how they deal with problems
if they are not active dont ever invest on the coin

All you need to do is a great research. Read the newspaper, learn about the team - if it is experienced one - . Look at their social media presence and their community. Most of all search about the coin and its utility. I am currently interested in this one: https://ico.crowdholding.com/
By looking at social media presence, I always prefer to take more look on LinkedIn profile. The team is always my first priority, what they have been up to, how well are they vast in the project they want to embark on, how far have they gone with the project so far and so on.

There are so many projects that have failed which apparently led to a failed coin, but a good team will always do their best to make a project successful as long as it is a feasible project.

preferably if you are a beginner, learn about altcoin before trading on trading. identify some altcoin that you think is very volatile and profitable so you can invest in the altcoin. The next step is to look for a bustling trading platform with a price that you think is expensive to sell your coins .. like etherdelta, bittrex, or poloniex. compare some prices of the trading platform. and do your trading

My suggestion for research would be to check out the team. So many new coins have anonymous, underskilled or inexperienced teams.

Think about it like this, if the coin or ICO you are considering was a regular old private company with shares, would you put your hard earned behind them? If not, probably best to reconsider unless you think the idea or coin is amazing for some other reason.

Altcoins are the fantastical piece of thing if you know something more about them. The best option to learn something more about them is to read a lot; investigate. This forum already offers all of the answers to your questions. There is the whole section dedicated only to altcoins( the wonderfull legacy of BTC). I seriously think that no one will share their best technique in investing. I'm not new here.. but still would like to know more... Since people here answer questions about how to learn more... from my experience, I feel that conferences could be a good way to learn... I found this one https://blockshowasia.com/ and I'm thinking to go, but tickets are not so cheap, but I suppose it could worth it... what do you think guys? have you heard about it? what do you think about conferences as a way of learning and networking?

This is quite interesting! I think I may go there! and Singapour is an interesting destination!

I bought my ticket cheaper.. with promo code VIP30.. I think you can use it too, it will be 30% discount, what is huge discount imo

How much you put into an alt should be relative to how risky it is.

It seems like this is a broad questions that you have bro. Are you into investment?bounties? Well, I think this is regarding investments, what I do suggest is for you to read the details about the project and as I always say check the team who handles it for you to make sure that you are on the right one. As a bounty hunter, I also do the same way of thinking as the investors since we also invest our time and effort in every campaign.

As a Newbie, you should be first familiar on what you will be doing. Basically you needed do some researches about altcoins and crypto currencies. Dig deeper if you so you will be aware of what you will do or what do you need to do. Afterwards, you may do the second phase, which is what part in crypto should you be focusing. Will you do Mining, Trading, Investing etc. How will you earn money out of it. It will help you a lot if there will a person who will guide you while you are in the process of learning. Much better if you can join to groups of people with the same interest as you are for from them you will gain more knowledges about cryptos and altcoins.

Good luck!

I like to put a lot of money into coins that have a lot of risk. So I think that the ratio between the risk and the amount is not that important...

Thanks guys for your advice on Altcoins.
Maybe my question didnt cover enough or wasnt specific enough but i can work with almost all the advice you gave me. My main goal is investing/trading.Correct me if im wrong.. but it seems like impossible to predict this market :o
If your goal is engage in trading/investing, I think you have to research first on how trading works because you cannot just invest and trade your capital if you do not know how this thing works. To become a profitable trader you have to know your market first, whether it is bitcoin, alts, stocks you have to gather information before you start a transaction. If it's really your passion to become a trader then make it your way to learn and be a professional trader. If you want to invest, just invest what you can afford to lose.

Truth is that he needs to work a lot with all this. We are all newbies here, some of us have more experience, but truth is that everything is new for us, new icos, new coins, new markets, new possibilities, everything is new
and there is a world that waits to be explored. More you explore more things you will learn, more you can earn, everything seems impossible until you get there and with work and lot of time invested you can get almost
everywhere. In this process you need to be ready for downfalls, its natural things and that happens, be strong get up learn more, earn more and like that in circles until you earn enough for pension.

Do not invest blindly, Always do your diligent reaserch.  If you want to have a good return, look for ICO that has a solid team behind it. Then invest in ICO, surely you will get good returns.

Well, i think there is no other much profitable strategy rather than holding strategy for newbie.
First, look into promissing altcoin like etherium and waves, then do research on their price.
After some move to lower price then you must be ready to buy them amd hold them.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)
If you are a beginner looking to invest in altcoin, my advice is to learn about the altcoin you want to make as a long term or short term investment. See if behind the altcoin you want to invest has a solid and responsible team, if you find a less convincing altcoin then leave it and move on to another.

I do not understand what do you mean. I should probably say that when buying coins, there is no difference in who buys these coins novice or already very experienced user. Mainly this is what you are buying.

Spread between safe and risky coins. As a simple strategy I would put equal amounts in:

- Bitcoin : Safest
- Ethereum : Very safe
- Litecoin : Safe - good, well managed project - good chance of taking off
- Neo : Safe - where eth was earlier this year so could really take of
- Civic : Some risk but lots of potential growth
- Steem : Some risk but lots of growth

This way you both protect your capital and give yourself the opportunity to score big. You can adjust based on how much risk you want to take on.  :) :)

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)

Your question is too vague, not clearly composed.
Are you asking for what altcoin is in general? or what altcoins are potentially successful and good for investment?
Or strategy like when to invest or when not to? when to hold or buy? or how to earn?
Anyway, you can hold for long term and earn great profits given that the coin has good dev team with real world application.
IN short do some readings.
Also you can buy altcoins when prices are low, that is perfect - but then again only those coin with potential.

Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? :)

Your question is too general, try to be more specific next time. Altcoins are earned through participating in bounty campaigns and airdrops, trading, gambling, betting, investing, etc. I don't know what advice to give you but I suggest that you first get your rank up for you to be able to participate in bounty campaigns or airdrops. The higher your rank the higher rewards you earn from bounty campaigns. If you plan on investing on an ICO you should first do research regarding the coin and never invest all your money in one coin for you to avoid great loss of profit.

OKay so a good investment strategy for altcoins would be to invest in coins that have small price values like less than 20 dollars and also have a large trading volume this means that this coin is used on a regular basis and if it has a lower price value and a big circulation amount then its demand will increase with given time
