Title: Access to wallet Post by: GoBlue05 on May 27, 2017, 07:55:54 PM I just received a small payment from someone from an account I forgot that I had. Is there anyway to access this account or know where I created it just by having the address or am I just sol?

If it were, that would be a major privacy flaw. However, the fact that you know that you received that payment implies some method of notification; if you could tell us how you got notified (e.g. in an email, in a push notification, etc) that would be a big clue.
Otherwise, you can check the following locations on old computers (and your current computer):
Additionally, if you think you might have had a "brain wallet", you can use https://brainwallet.io (download and copy to an offline computer if you're paranoid) to try old passwords you might have used, possibly using the "generic" option. Under no circumstances should you create and use new addresses using this tool, or continue to use old addresses made with it. |
