Users will be able to make deposits and/or withdrawals from their Bitcoin wallets by walking up to a Bitcoin ATM and using a QR code or by entering your personalized Bitcoin wallet address -- then go shopping online.
 
The world's first Bitcoin ATM will be unveiled in San Diego Thursday, and the Company will show 10News how it works and the idea behind Bitcoin.

Sounds like a great ATM.   You put your information in and then stand there for two hours until it gets six confirmations and gives you your money.

i have already gave back a bit of feedback to bitcoin ATM as a possible extra layer/service to make the system even more stream lined. ill update this post if i get a reply.

EG
they only require 1 confirm for cashing out - but imagine a busy shopping day where there is a queue. you use the machine once to put your coins in. then linger around the machine/form a second queue for when the confirmation occurs to the redeem your cash.

my idea - to have an app/website portal to pre-deposit the coins while in the carpark/ home/work. and then receive the redemption code before you even reach the ATM. so all you have to do is use it once, to type in the redemption code and get your fiat.

Yes, they are 2 different projects.

BitcoinATM is definitely an awesome sign of things to come. Bitcoin is getting easier to spend and easier to buy.

Plus, there were 3 local news stations present at the press conference. CBS, NBC, and Fox.

I haven't read up yet on how the ATM works so I can't comment on that really, but if it ends up working well just have a few of these ATM's scattered around a few malls or stores throughout America would be great advertisement for Bitcoin. Of course if it works well here, people in other countries will follow suit pretty quickly.

The second project is more realistic in the short term. It's unlikely it will require Bank Secrecy Act compliance. They could go in any pawnshop, convenience store, or nightly entertainment establishment. It allows Bitcoin to be used anywhere you need to store money securely or spend discretely. Travelers or patrons would not have to worry about carrying cash, while maintaining their privacy.

The pawnshop is the one that has a lot of potential. Can't pay your utility bill? Pawn something and send Bitcoin directly to your utility account.
