Pardon me if I'm wrong, but if a new coin comes up every day, isn't that going to decrease all crypto value?

Pardon my ignorance, but why is everyone so quick to create other crypto-currencies? The only possible benefit I can see is that if another does happen to take off, you have the chance to get rich from it. Apart from that though, where is the silver lining? Surely putting more effort into marketing bitcoins would benefit the economy of bitcoins, and thus increase the value of your current balance?

Are there any technological advantages to these alternatives?

I like to do them just as a bit of fun and actually get some coins even though they will probably worth nothing, But you never know. :)

I don't think this will take off because it's too rare.  Though they have a great looking website!
