Ripple ? Jesus, I never want to get struck with any centralized system even they do call themselves as more decentralized than bitcoin ecosystem. In recent times XRP found more than 500% growth but their tx per sec not even matching what bitcoin's 1%. Hence it must be a blind pump and may fall into blood bath any time.

I would rather go with LTC in expectation of Lightning network :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpfvhiqFw7A this will really be useful and will improve many things.

Nothing cannot change fact that XRP is centralized, probably will going to has some success and loyal users, but this doesn't  attracts me.

Honestly I prefer litecoin because it is a true crypto currency in the tradition of bitcoin, compare to ripple who is centralized and an unlimited supply, litecoin is a sure winner than ripple who is just a pump and dump coin.

I'm a fan of litecoin.
It's always been around with bitcoin and it has a great potential.

Adding to that, recent segwit implementation adds more to it.

I've seen a lot of people talking about ripple but it's not what I'd invest my money in.

If you want a coin that can be broken at any time, due to some new technology that disrupts the mining process, you should go for LTC.

LTC all the way.

Aside from it being a more stable and advanced version of bitcoin (cheaper tx costs, faster confirmation times), it has a clearer roadmap to success. In the end, what matters is if it is simple enough for people to use and adopt on a massive scale, and LTC does just that.

Although LTC is not discussed much in this forum, you can check out http://reddit.com/r/litecion
For their 2017 roadmap you can check: http://litecoin.org

I like XRP. Ripple can confirm transactions in 8 seconds and perform thousands of transactions/s. This is the main feature why banks want to use ripple for inter currency transactions.

LTC has greater potential than ripple. Also ripple is centralized which make me choose LTC.

Which coin has more potential, what do you think?

obiously ltc, ltc has a pow phase backed by mining and a fixed supply, not to mention thgat litecoin is seen well as the lite version of bitcoin, instead ripple is centralized, with token issued at will by their authority, with potential infinite supply, not worth the effort to explain why ripple is far worse than litecoin

Both are great investments in my opinion, but i think ripple could give you better profits. A lot of people complain that it's centralized, but that's mostly a problem for people like us, who are interested in cryptocurrency and understand how it works. We do not represent the mass population who still fears decentralisation because of their 'if there's no authority to control it, how do we know it's safe'-mentality. Those people will be convinced by bankers and financial advisors to invest in ripple rather than bitcoin and litecoin because it's simply a lot more controlled, and therefore a lot safer. We of course know this is not always the case, but the vast majority of the world doesn't, hence why the marketcap for cryptos is still so incredibly small compared to others. Personally i've had countless people refuse to invest in cryptos because they simply don't trust it. Ripple is a lot more thrustworthy thanks to it's centralisation, and can therefore see a lot more adoption in the upcoming years.

If you are looking mainly for profit in short run or for trading purpose you should surely go with ltc. On other hand xrp is a coin which is more like a business related coin, even though it's features are not famous but i have seen news that some companies are planning to adopt it. Xrp is more like a long term investment but yeah there is a chance of xrp failing also.
If you can wait for long term and willing to take the risk go with xrp othereise ltc is also a good coin.

Ripple is more of the same shit. Central companies middlemen are unnecessary and not needed they are nothing else as leeches.
Until now only a few million xrp's have been released sporadically by Ripple from next month 1 Billion will be released every month. Couple of days ago the first Bank already announced to create its own token and use Ripple, others will follow, begs the question who is using XRP then.

Litecoins Lightning Network in action
Couple of days ago the first micro transaction from San Francisco to Zurich worth about 1.3 US cent

I'm not sure if you're statements are correct...  many of xrp is already circulating, now a couple of million. THey have a lockup for the 50billion which are left.

the bank who creates it's own token, must also create liquidity... how will they do that? You need liquidity, a token on itself is nothing.

If you want to invest for profit, I'd say Ripple has more potential to bring you bigger profits. So I'd definitely recommend Ripple because at the moment the price is quite low and probably best to get in, because most probably, its gonna go quite high in the near future.

well, personally LTC... XRP is a bit out of the news right now, they dont have updates as of the moment. But if you have BTC, it is better to hold it for a while or, diversify on some small coins that has good project, it will be worth it than LTC and XRP. For me, both of the coins will never increase its value further, they are only good for day trading.

It will but i don't think it'll be a huge one. Even after segwit its not going up that well.
Ripple has better activity but its too high at the moment.

I'm a firm believer in a diverse portfolio. The basics apply. Do your homework, don't invest what you cannot afford to lose. Don't buy and sell based on your emotions.

XRP may be centralized, but so is the USD and we all use that too. Stocks, Bonds, ETF, Metals, centralized and decentralized crypto are part of a complete portfolio.

Pump and dump is real, but to me it's all part of the game. If you see a coin, and you like their purpose, read up on it. Research the developers and the founding members. Does the coin make sense to you? If you don't understand it, maybe look at something else. In the end, they are all only worth what people are willing to pay for them.

Plus, it can never hurt to have a few thousand coin (if you can get them cheap enough) in case they blow up in the next few years.

I would put my money on 50/50 both.

XRP is tied to many businesses so it has real life practical day to day usage thus better adoption rate.  Litecoin not so much.  I don't mind some centralization if the intent is good, I've seen some bad behavior pump and dump teams on bitcoin talk and big money large mining farms taking up all the coins, leaves a little left for the little guy., so having the coins locked away to prevent this type of bad behavior is a brilliant idea.

I believe ripple has 7 validating nodes at different locations to prevent centralization from attacks.  Ripple is very new and still only .2-.25 cents used to be .4 cents.  I can see this coin by end of year being worth a dolllar or more.

Litecoin is good also now they got segwit.  Miners also going all in on litecoin so difficulty will get harder with time

i will choice LTC , why ?? i think LTC have a good system and great team ,, so you can see to now ,, LTC become an option for traders and LTC only get to mining  ..  but for XRP a big part coin held to developer so this is can make people not believe for trading and invest ,, sorry if i wrong but i see this information to read in a forum :D

On my opinion i would choose XRP, LTC always pops and falls, i don`t think that this coin will pop up more than 40$, because its just waves. XRP has much more chances to grow up to 1$, but still it would be difficult to reach more with such circulating supply.

This. Pretty much most of the big alts (ltc ether, monero, doge, dash) are better than Ripple. No-one uses ripple, it's been around now for three years where they claim they are going to do this and that, and nothing has come of it.

Yeah its true its being undervalued but still included on the top of marketcap which means it does really have the potential in the future.I do really look up that there are bagholders which are hoarding their LTC for sure because they do believe on its potential. Buying now LTC while its cheap is ideal its just my own view. There are lots of potential alts on the market just be careful on selecting one.

LTC may have some future, it was the first real altcoin and so has a first mover advantage despite only offering faster confirmation times over bitcoin. XRP is not a real cryptocurrency and is centralized and despite common belief banks don't actually use it, its only purpose seems to be for making ripple rich, hence it will fall hard.

I will choose LTC because it has good in trading and have an potential and faster in transactions. LTC also is a most familiar and known coin also and decentralized. In litecoin there is benefits and before you sell you know first if your money will become profitable you also get profit in trading. You have to be patient and also easy in trading you don't need to worry in price.

More potential for what? Economic growth? Or Usability? Or something else, as many people in the forum I will not invest my money in ripple I don’t like the fact that is a centralized system, litecoin in the other hand was more a copy of bitcoin, but with the addition of segwit then the network is going to be even faster than before and that could really be a great way to improve the usage of litecoin as people try to get around the slowness of bitcoin.

Charles Lee found LTC on October 7th, 2011 having $2,188,639,991  market capitalization and Mine able coin
Xrp having $5,965,759,926 market capitalization and good valuable  currency having no 3 rank
Ripple is valued by the (imo irrational) market as 10x as valuable as litecoin.

LiteCoin is older and going good from last many year and XRP is new but going good because it has been accepted by bank and also ranked on 3rd in coinmarketcap. So I recommend both of them because both are very good coins.

XRP was an excellent investment when it was still low and the price was below 1000 satoshi. now it is over priced and is not worth investing in anymore.

LTC was also an excellent investment when it was low at 60K-70K satoshi. but the difference between these two is that LTC has a future with being decentralized and having SegWit, Lightning Network, and all the benefits of that such as Smart Contracts and Atomic Swap for p2p exchange, .... and that will help it in long term to keep rising up and give you profit.

Because it has a very solid team behind it.

On the other hand Xrp is controlled by Bank and it has  conflicts with the word decentralized.

I give a slight edge on Ripple. I don't see too many tie ups on Litecoin except for being a test lab of Bitcoin. Charlie Lee must be part of the Satoshi Nakamoto team. Whereas Ripple already pitched to nearly all the top banks and financial institutions around the world.

Yes that's true both coins are really great and both of them has pros and cons.

But for me investing wise if you are more of a conservative investor you should choose LTC it is one of the most stable coins in the market. Price movement is okay and even though the growth is small  Litecoin has already established its name. But if you are more of a  risk taker you should choose XRP since it is very cheap price for growth is very high, you know what they say high risk high reward.

Easy question. Centralized coins are vulnerable to attacks to the system, even lot of protection layers could be invaded nowadays.

Between XRP and LTC, I would go LTC.

Buy, hold and wait better to make sure that you are using extra funds as we can't predict when the value will rise up and when it will
fall back, there's some risk with buying and supporting both coins but for those who understand the market and have a lots of patience,
waiting will bring good result.

No the ripple protocol is owned by a company and can be changed at the behest of this company (think like a central bank for inflation) while for litecoin the protocol can be changed by anyone as long as they get the community (miners) to rally behind their idea.

The free supply is 38 billion of which 20 billion belongs to the founders. There is another 62 billion in the company waiting to be released at a pace the company deems fit (again inflation). One of the founders holds 9 billion ripples and now works for a competitor (stellar) so has a vested interest to make the price crash. (Which he tried before but now reached an agreement with the company to sell his ripples in a ordened fashion). Litecoins supply is 51 million with 5,25 million made per year. This will halve every four years and litecoin will never have more then 84 million Litecoins. The litecoins are awarded to different miners and have a longer history of trading therefore litecoins are more diversified and held by more people.

Ripple can confirm transactions in 8 seconds and perform thousands of transactions/s. Litecoin will need the lightening network which will be rolled out next month to eventually outperform ripple here. This is the main feature why banks want to use ripple for inter currency transactions but I dont see why they could not use litecoin in the future. With atomic swaps down the road ripple wont be able to compete with litecoin for many financial applications.

Ripple is not made to pay for in a store so I dont think there is a ripple wallet or any services where you can pay with ripple. They focus on getting the banks to work with them.

Ripple is valued by the (imo irrational) market as 10x as valuable as litecoin.

TL;DR

Litecoin can do what ripple can but not vice versa and is cheaper.

Comparing LTC with XRP already LTC is established and the price of the coin is lot more than Ripple. XRP is still in its initial stages as the price is less than 1$, so that buy bunch of Ripple hold and sell that gives some money. LTC already the price is 372$ on the track of growth so can invest in LTC without any hesitation.

Hi,

If you consider max supply and circulating supply of XRP, you would get your reply whether LTC or XRP is a better option. To be able to increase its value by 50x as an example, it should have a massive market cap as much as Bitcoin or more.

On the other hand, LTC has lower supply rates and higher potential to tenfold-fiftyfold its rates from my point of view.

Ripple is indeed the future of digital currency as it has tie up with multiple banks which makes it more worthy as it will be accepted by banks in future and there might be less regulatory risk over ripple and I myself has personally traded Litecoin to buy ripple thinking about the long term benefits but Litecoin was really beneficial I bought it at a very lesser price but thought of buying couple of hundred ripple fn exchange and storing it for say like 2 years then sell a part of it and reinvest in similar alts.

LTC become popular in the market, and the price is also high now, to compare to LTC price XRP is best and this is the good time to make your money double. It is near to $1 once it crosses this margin surely it will reach $2 very soon. So I will suggest XRP.

Why choose only one coin? I would invest in both LTC and XRP. Both coins are very promising and have great potential. Ripple buy more profitable, because this coin is now very cheap

I was thinking to trade only 1/3 of LTC non the whole part.

Hi everyone,

currently I have 1.5 LTC. Could be a good idea trade a part o these for Ripple ?
Study first the current flow, not because xrp is moving upwards you will sell your ltc its still an early stage for ltc so we can expect
more rising in terms of its value, that's the reason you needed to study the market because from there you will be able to assess
whether the coin already reach its peak or still starting to go high.

I would not say that it is cheap, it is cheaper than the litecoin ,but he has a lot more coins. Litecoin have less capitalization, so it has a better chance of making a quick profit

Yeah, that's a tough call. I really, really don't like XRP, but I see a lot of mainstream powers that be pushing it and thus I see a lot of growth potential.

Ltc has been doing well lately and will probably continue to do so, but you might get less of a return percentage wise.

If I had the extra funds, I'd probably through a little in both and see what happens.

I recommend to stick with the mineable coins. Litecoin and Ethereum might still have some catching up on Bitcoin to do.

This year ltc and xrp alike are experiencing a very significant price increase, but if for choice I prefer ltc. Because at this time coin prices ltc can compete with bitcoin gold, which can be said coins that have a bright future.

Just looking at the price I'd go xrp for now. Ltc price is a little too high for my liking to enter now.

I believe that Ripple (XRP) has bright future, because it is adopted by banks and payment networks. Big banks like UniCredit, Santander and UBS already use it.

Which coin has more potential, what do you think?

My opinion is Ltc. It has been a long time and proved it. Also the maximum supply is not limited. Xrp can only survive with rumors.
XRP has too many question marks and insecurity.

Litecoin more potential. If you see the trend also you can justify. 2 months ago it was 50$ and now over 300$.

Xrp has a masdiva supply so problem there

That about massive supply is logical thing to think, but in this case it didn't stopped XRP in last 10 days growth. It have huge potential.

Answer me this, what purpose does litecoin have?
What purpose does XRP have?

If you find out then you know what to buy :)

Can someone list me :

1. Transactions per second  xrp/ltc
2. Fees    xrp/ltc
3. Transaction time    xrp/ltc

We should not compare Litecoin with Ripple, we should note that Ripple's large increase comes from large investments by companies and banks, investments over strong hand, the Marketp Cap shows us this reality. Any currency with large investments from institutions outweighs any currency.

i would say XRP has uch more finanial power, and is maybe on its way to overcome ETH and BTC as first crypto.

100B market cap is nothing for major banks. XRP can outweight indeed any other crypto.

problem is its a bit unpredictable, for average crypto guys like us, since we dont work in Ripple company.
personally i hate it, because i missed absolutely all trains on ripple. i remember buying at 440 satoshis and selling at 550 satoshis on february 2017... it was something like 0.006$
if i did invest in it, i did be a multimillionaire !

sadly i think there is no going back.

but XRP is the crypto of banks and therefore governments. so i guess it still has a bright future, we have to calculate how much growth could be achieved if banks invested the major part of their assets on this currency.

how much of the market cap would still be pumped ?

it's currently 100Billion.  maybe 1 Trillion ? 10 Trillion ?

at this rate, XRP may crush bitcoin soon.

Smart investors will tell you to buy when everyone is selling, and to sell when everyone is buying.

Which part do you think we are at right now?  ;) ;D

Agree, with the fact that the ethereum has a huge potential, but I think ripple is now very risky to buy

Personally I like both coins..Both are very good options. If in market potential LTC has greater potential than ripple. Also ripple is centralized which make me choose LTC.
But ltc price is high enough so If I will choose for long term investment i will take XRP (Ripple) . I've owned both of them and I'm planning to hold and buy some more for the future.

Invest in Litecoin, at least you will keep your dignity when you have those coins. Banks are trying to regulate cryptocurrency through Ripple and their Blockchain.

I really love how people compare two very different cryptos that cannot be compared. Is like comparing a table to a chair (which one is better?). Each one has a different use case. XRP is intended for banks and transactions within the banking system. LTC is not.

look at their website, 2020 is a long wait to next target
so i think i must agree with you sir
trade LTC for short and XRP for long investment

now to look for bigger profits in my opinion is XRP because to buy the price is still cheaper than LTC which value is big enough and XRP is also in the period to experience continuous improvement and it will be hard to stop

XRP i may say that it has a good option of having it but we all know how god also is LTC but as of the price it is much cheaper than XRP for me if you are able to take this two may you are able to do but choosing one only i may suggest the XRP for.

Ripple proved that this coin can bring a very large profit in a short time. But such a sharp increase is not very stable. It seems to me that LTC will bring a smaller percentage, but this coin is more stable

Now ripple shows a good bull, and litecoin falls after Lee's statements. But my voice is still for the litecoin. I do not want to give my money to ordinary liars of bankers, who in real life also have a higher profit than they should. Bankers whales have a controlling package of ripple. Therefore, they manipulate the value, the volumes, absolutely everything.

Surely that ripple has more potential compared with Litecoin, Especially at the price that is rapidly advancing in a small period of time ( there is a progress by 89% from
$ 0.24 to  $ 2.22 in just 7 days). Moreover, Ripple has become one of the best cryptocurrencies particularly at the level of progress (such as in the market cap, the volume, and circulating supply ).
In otheriwse, I advise you to buy a big quantity of XRP and investing the majority of them.

Ripple has the best potential because it is a strong and unusual coin, but now I would have bought a Litecoin  better because it is now underestimated and a Ripple overestimated
