It reminds me of 2011. All of our bullish hopes keep getting dashed.  :'(

Well we do know that lot of VC money has been pouring into Bitcoin recently, so Silicon Valley(or someone else) might see this as the perfect opportunity to jump in and stake their claim in the exchange market. Which would be good for us since Bitcoin is obviously outgrowing Mt. Gox.

For instance, BTCGlobal.com looks very promising!

Quote from: from Reddit
Impressive.
Is there a roll out schedule? The website simply says "May", and it's solely for Southern American countries at launch.
The owners appear to want to compete with Gox, they make that quite clear, so there has to be an international plan..
There are a lot of people very willing to support new exchanges that can demonstrate having their shit together.

All of the above assumptions are correct. :) We will roll out in Latin America first. We plan to roll out globally as well. There is a fixed schedule plan for the roll out, but we care more about solid technology, solid legal backing, solid banking support, solid customer service - then about plans. So we do one step at a time and make sure all fits. But no worries we'll also be as transparent as possible so expect news on this soon.

can gox do anything right?  they have inadvertantly sabotaged the bitcoin market over and over and over.  geez.  maybe if people started learning how to use other exchanges and boycotting gox, this would be a non-issue.

you kinda have to think gox is taking positions in btc then screwing themselves to get cheap BTC

Part of me likes seeing noobs getting the naivety beaten out of them. Does that make me a bad person?

If anything I'd imagine they'd WANT the price to keep fluctuating to increase trading (which increases their profit)

Today?  Today???

What I want to know is this:

Who knew this deal was falling apart?  And did they know it by, or before, April 10th?  (I note that there have been discussions of a material breach going back to mid- and late-March.)

But you're right.  It doesn't look good,
