Title: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: ucwise on May 31, 2017, 01:41:57 PM I tried sending Bitcoin payment to a blockchain address using a blockchain account but I keep receiving a message "invalid bitcoin address". What should i do? Its urgent!
Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: Mpamaegbu on May 31, 2017, 01:49:56 PM You may want to paste the address so the experts here will have a look at it to know what could have gone wrong. If you don't mind...
Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: mocacinno on May 31, 2017, 01:52:53 PM You can test an address for validity using my address validator:

this is the bitcoin address. I tried it on several other bitcoin platform but i still got the same report. But when i post my own wallet address, it is valid. So I told him to take a screen shot to see if there was any mistake but it was thesame. the code is invalid in mocacinno.com/ how then can a valid code be gotten? The code was given by blockchain. Please, how do I upload a picture so that i may show you the given address in the wallet Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: cr1776 on May 31, 2017, 02:33:41 PM 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF the code is invalid in mocacinno.com/ how then can a valid code be gotten? If so and it was copied fully, I would guess blockchain.info has a bug. However blockchain.info doesn't recognize it either: https://blockchain.info/search?search=1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg%C2%AD8qXL1FEozDGQEF You can upload the screenshot to a 3rd party site like imgur.com and link it. Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: Coding Enthusiast on May 31, 2017, 02:39:33 PM Ask him to give you the QR code of the bitcoin address. QR has a built in error thingy in it which prevents any copying problem. He may have copied part of the address. For example it may be missing a letter at the end!
Even if you don't have a smart phone you can use an online tool to convert the QR into string (address in this case): https://webqr.com/ Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: ucwise on May 31, 2017, 02:40:42 PM 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF the code is invalid in mocacinno.com/ how then can a valid code be gotten? try this link: https://blockchain.info/address/1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF You have a hidden charter between g and 8, the copy was messed up for some reason! 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: ucwise on May 31, 2017, 02:47:00 PM I found your problem :D try this link: https://blockchain.info/address/1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF You have a hidden charter between g and 8, the copy was messed up for some reason! 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF Ok, what exactly is the problem cause i don't understand it is. The problem is that this 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF has an additional character inside of it which is located between the two letters I made bold above. It is hidden so when you put it as the bitcoin address the code sees it but not you, so it finds it invalid. When you remove that character it becomes this 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF which is a valid bitcoin address. https://i.imgur.com/HWe269R.jpg Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: ucwise on May 31, 2017, 03:35:06 PM I found your problem :D try this link: https://blockchain.info/address/1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF You have a hidden charter between g and 8, the copy was messed up for some reason! 1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF Ok, what exactly is the problem cause i don't understand it is. Biggest clues for me as I was reading down the thread were:https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zxuDf.png and then this one: https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zxAnZ.png But I got to the party late and the issue was already solved ;) Sometimes you need to copy/paste into a pure text editor like Notepad so that you can see ALL the characters clearly. Notepad doesn't interpret them as anything else... whereas apps like Webbrowsers try to be "smart" sometimes and convert special character encodings for you... :P Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: Coding Enthusiast on June 01, 2017, 04:16:04 AM I actually ran it through my code in debug mode inside VS and it gave me the error that a non-base58 char is there :D

Program shows that this address - 1N2w2o2RkRiNQaKKKfdPUzhG6sWfU3qpLV is valid But this address - 1N2w2o2RkRiNQaFFFfdPUzhG6sWfU3qpLV is invalid. Why so? I just replace "KKK" by "FFF". It must be a valid address too. Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: HCP on June 01, 2017, 10:13:45 PM Thank you very much so basically the best is to copy it in notepad. That is what I got when I copied and pasted the bitcoin address (that the OP had posted in Post#4) into blockchain.info address search... I actually use a Chrome extension that I coded that allows me to just select txid's or bitcoin addresses from posts and automagically search various blockexplorers for those values.I was just wondering where did you get your first picture? I checked all links/pictures in this topic and couldn't find it. So try this link: http://blockchain.info/address/1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF (http://blockchain.info/address/1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF) Because it sends the address directly to the https://blockchain.info/address/<bitcoin address goes here> URL, rather than the generic binfo search box, it does some validation on the text sent expecting it to be an address. I have one question: what kind of algorythm this programm has? No. just because it is using the valid Base58check characters (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Base58Check_encoding#Base58_symbol_chart), does not necessarily mean that any given address using those characters is a valid bitcoin address. What should i do? Its urgent! I had it before,... could you check any space? lets say it was copied as 1xxxxxx (with a bar space), I had it also before. I checked your address from explorer and it also confirm that your address can not be verified,... somehow I think it is cool and I am so sorry that I coudnt help. Title: Re: Invalid bitcoin address Post by: 27QVUTZj8rgZP1 on June 03, 2017, 10:04:59 PM The problem is that there's a hidden character we cannot see, probably due to char encoding. But it gets copied and pasted anyway.
It is only seen when we analyze in binary: Code: 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F Works fine without it: https://blockchain.info/address/1DJJoJ4sxwJdwExTsoDg8qXL1FEozDGQEF |
