Title: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: phishphood on May 03, 2013, 11:32:23 PM Hey all im stuck in this newbie forum for now hoping to get out. Does anyone know of any bitcoin exchanges with reasonable fees? Bitinstants fees seem a little high recently. Ive used exchanges such as bitfloor and ziggap when they were still around but im at a loss for a source of coins now. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm in the UK and it's a pain trying to buy BTC as none of the banks to my knowledge even acknowledge BTC's existence! FWIW, I found an article suggesting using www.virwox.com (http://www.virwox.com) to exchange £ (paid through paypal) to Linden $, then Linden $ to BTC. Not an elegant solution, and quite costly with the fees (Paypal + 2 exchange fees) but it worked straight away. There's small limits to begin with, but it might be what you're looking for. Of course, if anyone else knows a better way, please let me know! Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: storm11 on May 03, 2013, 11:45:43 PM definitely btc-e, but its mostly about finding an exchange that trades your currency. In Australia, there are bitpiggy and bitinnovate, both are reliable.

Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: carebear on May 04, 2013, 12:11:00 AM mtgox.com has bank transfer.
it works. Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: the1silverwolf on May 04, 2013, 12:51:58 AM mtgox.com has bank transfer. it works. I use https://coinbase.com (https://coinbase.com) in the us to cash out bitcoins to my bank account. Very low fee and it posts usually 3 days or so to my account, pretty fast. I use BTC-E for trading, put everything in BTC and send that over to coinbase. Plus the BTC price on coinbase is usually a bit higher than it is on BTC-E so nice little bonus there. I am curious as to find out why is it so difficult to buy coins there in england? why does the bank need to know you are buying bitcoins? Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: lexis200 on May 04, 2013, 08:04:31 AM It's not that the banks need to know, it's just that there isn't a mechanism in place to exchange directly from GBP to BTC. Everything I've seen is from USD or EUR to BTC. So us Brits have to suffer the pain of 2 exchange fees, or do an international bank transfer which negates any profit we might otherwise make. :(
If anyone has a better way, please let me know! Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: eretron on May 04, 2013, 09:48:44 AM vote for btc-e :D

Post by: morthandeus on May 04, 2013, 02:47:15 PM You may want to spread your funds across 2 or 3 exchanges rather than just use the cheapest. Exchange failures are quite common and it is far better to lose access to 33% of your funds than 100%.
Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: moltenmich on May 04, 2013, 04:01:57 PM I agree spreading funds to different exchanges is a good idea. BTC-e is the most entertaining. I use Bitstamp cuz it has Ripple which I think is going to be an important tool in transferring funds/credit in the future.
Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: peva3 on May 04, 2013, 04:09:39 PM I've only ever used btc-e. And also what could be better than the trollbox? lol

Alot safer and can be easily manageable. Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: DaisyPusher on May 04, 2013, 05:51:30 PM @FeatherLite
You can find the FTC prices at https://vircurex.com/ on the right hand side of the screen (look for FTC) and https://btc-e.com/exchange/ftc_btc Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: machine1704 on May 04, 2013, 06:02:39 PM I like btc-e the best.
Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: phishphood on May 05, 2013, 01:49:46 AM Seems like btc-e is the most popular but how do you guys fund from the us? Thats what seems to give me trouble!

Getting USD in and out of the exchanges is generally a problem. You can do a wire transfer but that's a pain. There are two ways I have used to get around this. 1. Buy Linden Dollars and trade them for BTC, then you can send the BTC to BTC-e https://www.virwox.com/?drgn=1 (https://www.virwox.com/?drgn=1) 2. Use Coinbase to buy BTC and then send the BTC to BTC-e. https://coinbase.com/signin (https://coinbase.com/signin) Title: Re: bitcoin exchanges? Post by: LeoKomarov on May 06, 2013, 03:25:05 PM Bitstamp.net (http://Bitstamp.net) is a very good exchange for people in the Eurozone - 0.5% trading fees, 0% fee on SEPA deposits and a 0.9 euro fee on SEPA withdrawals.
