Genus: "Canid"

Favourite food: Antelope!

Lycaon pictus is the largest of its family in Africa, and the only member of the genus Lycaon, which is distinguished from Canis by its fewer toes and its jaw/dentition, the latter of which is an adaptation for a hypercarnivorous diet (more than 70% meat).

The IUCN classifies Lycaon pictus as endangered. It has disappeared from much of its original hunting range. Its population is estimated at 39 sub-populations with 6,500 adults, but only 1,400 of these are fully grown.

The decline of Lycaon pictus is accelerating, due to loss of habitat, fragmentation, human persecution, and outbreaks of disease.

This is a cracking animal, and if you youtube it, and watch it in its full glory, it is amazing. My Hendrix intro used 2 minutes of film that was much longer. These guys mess with far bigger and more dangerous creatures than the poor antelope that gets it in my intro.

I was lucky enough to watch them 2 years ago on a tour. We did not get too near, as they are private (lol). But the way they interact is like stoneage dog/wolf. They are amazing.

I do not want Lycaon to become extinct. No way, and anyone that adopts one is doing the genus a service.

I just had a look at the source, and I like the steady increase every 10,000 blocks.

Excellent protection against dumps since the pot doubles in about 10 weeks or so.

Pointless dumping into nothingness, better to grab control of the market, then look to set the price.

I deleted yavuzc78s last troll-post,in which he asks me what I did with the 1400 blocks I premined.

Typical fallacy, from a weird little man.

I test mined several hundred blocks via mining rig rentals. Plus, I test staked. My net gain was 90,000 or something.

His implication is I mined 1400 blocks at  500 coins = 700,000.

The explorer can be checked to see the activity till block 1400.

Hashrate at 8 GHZ a moment ago, now on a slide down as  the difficulty drops.

About 50 million will exist in 10 weeks, then it is just PoS.

With the reward increasing every 10,000 blocks of POW, I expect more competition and a higher hashrate.

In terms of price, it was listed on novaexchange for a reason.

If it proves unpopular in bitcoin markets, it has several other markets to investigate.

If somebody takes control of the network and coins, however, that person will be able to set the price in satoshi.

My guess is it will be between 5 - 10 sats on average for the next few weeks.

After 100,000 blocks (10 weeks), I predict around 10 - 25 sats.


On the other hand, it can go low, which means it can play with Espers, Doge, Litecoin et al.

The POW and POS rewards, the length of POW/POS at 100,000, and POS afterwards is an optimum for a crowded market.


It might initially seem like there are unlimited coins, but in 10 weeks it will not.

There will be at most 5,000,000 staked (most coins never get staked) in a year.


So the period becomes stable, or at least offers a chance to mine POS and get modest rewards.


I  could have made it 1 sat a block, but somehow I do not think it would make people desperate for ownership.

Looking at the stats, and as expected given the 20 block difficulty change, POW and POS dominate interchangeably.

This is important to final coin count at 100,000 blocks (since POS blocks pay a fraction of POW blocks, although both count as mined blocks).

The dogs are seriously awesome. If I achieve nothing else, I know for sure that Lycaon pictus, aka the African Wolf/Wild Dog, is now known to exist, and be under threat, by a few hundred people more than a week ago. At least some of those will take an interest in its survival

The dogs are something special, really fascinating. There are lots of videos on youtube, they even gang up on big cats and rhinos.
