Title: What coins are owned by whales?
Post by: anahata on June 03, 2017, 09:27:11 AM
I'm compiling a list of altcoins where majority is owned by whales. Like the recent BAT ICO.

We all know that whales can manipulate the price and can cause pump and dump of certain coins. You can have short term profits from some of these coins, but long position is always fraught with danger. Some coins that comes to mind are XRP, gnosis and most recently BAT.

I have only recently started researching and my knowledge of whale owned coins are limited to past few months. Any more alts that I should stay clear of?

whales like to play with coin that have good traction, because maybe they have good features? whale ar enow on DGB, very strong pump at the moment, i can say that whales have also all the top 10, like zcash ETH and lbry, byteball also is a nice addition for them, because the more bitcoin you have the more byteball you can get, this mena that whales are very welcome in byteball, same thing for stellar lumens, and all the good project around ETH, the one with token, like golem

At least one new coin comes to mind: BAT (http://"https://etherscan.io/token/tokenholderchart/BAT?range=500")

True whales will own the top 5 coins and do a lot of ETH/LTC pumping.

The ETH manipulation has never been more true than the past few days if you've been watching the order books closely.

And yes, to the OP, whales will exist in any crypto where there is hype and therefore money to be made. Scratch that....they will be manipulating those the most. However, they are in all coins. Sneaky guys are accumulating the ones you haven't heard about yet, but will.

The sad thing is that they can ruin the coins/tokens of good projects in the short term by suppressing the value. In the long run the good projects will still shine but they really control the short/medium term value.

BAT, ARAGON, and another biggest ico. remember the biggest portion of the gnosis token already hold by the developer of the project itself. That means there is no a lot of whales were holding it.
Whale always try to manipulate the price of the token.
