Title: Which gtx 1080 ti brand is the best?
Post by: Nalut on June 04, 2017, 12:58:50 AM
For those who have a good background knowldge about Nvidia gtx cards when it comes to Mining, please vote and give us your comment.
Any difference in hash rate? Fan speed/tempreture ?

Planning to buy 2x gtxs but can't decide which one of them is worth it.

Okay I own

Five Msi aeros 1080ti
Eight founder edition cards 1080 ti
One Aorus 1080 ti

As far as I can tell the founders cards all seem to be the same.

I have zotacs pnys but I just would purchase what was cheap.
If you buy founders Evga is great with returns so I would get Evga founders if they are cheap.

I like the Msi aero model I have five I got some very good deals 598 , 635 a card.

They are flawless and Msi is okay with returns

The Aorus 1080ti was costly it is fat almost three slots. I spen the most on it .

I will not be buying another.

So Msi aero or Evga founder if prices are low.

That's amazing really, don't you think there's a big difference between FE which has 11,000 memory clock speed and Asus which has only about 1,700 only ?
Even though Asus price is higher than the FE.

That's a typo

Look on newegg you will see the 1708 is the core number not the memory number.

Look the asus strix is a good card.

But it is costly.

I am getting Msi aero's as low as 590 usd so why pay over 779 plus tax at newegg or Amazon.

Cheapest MSI is $699 not sure where you get yours from, i think i will go with 2x EVGA FE , $1400 no taxes is a good deal.

I like Evga  good rma policy  .

An ebay sale  649 - 8% = 597.95 with 6 months to pay no interest no payments

if you don't mind the noise, go with FE and save some $

I have 6 FE + 2 Gigabyte Xtreme. If you push FE to 75%Fan, it's just slightly hotter (a few degrees +) and almost the same performance as the Gigabyte Xtreme. The Gigabyte fan is really really quiet but not worth the extra $ just for mining.

agreed and I have 5 EVGA FE. Earlier RMA a 1070 and EVGA processed it very smoothly.

Also let you know Gigabyte provides 4 years warranty for Aorus cards, could be a plus for reselling. And I heard Gigabyte improved its RMA service greatly recently.

I was worried about if one of my cards went down how difficult it would be to get replaced. How long was the turn around, did they offer to do advanced RMA and cross ship the item? I don't like it when they have to wait and then ship, it's best that they ship and you ship at the same time I hate waiting for replacements.

Thanks.

I have 1 FE card and 6 Aorus card and from my experience I would say Aorus is better in both cooling and hashrate. As others has pointed out its really big almost 3 slot wide and almost 13" in length, costs $720+ and you need enough space between cards to keep the temperature in 60's range but on the plus side you can OC them a lot its power limit goes up to 350w per card and will crunch a ton of hash.

Hope this helps.

Yeah a lot depends on price.  I got the 1 aorus  719 and tax at newegg = 780  I have been running it since early april  it earns back nicely.

But I got those msi aero's under 600  they are good and 183 usd is a big price difference.

To be fair if I used the ebay sale for an aorus it would have been 780 - 57 in ebucks or 723

still 723 vs 597 it was an easy choice to get the msi..

also it is summer I get heat capped  so I am gentle on my cards  65-73% tdp   keeps stuff cool and saves power.

So the aorus  pushed has a bigger  tdp.

I guess I am saying  your setup matters a lot.  I don't see me running 20 aorus 1080 ti's this winter.

But 20  msi aero and Founder cards this winter look possible to me

I will not be able to resell my cards in future it's not cheap in my country, planning to keep them until they are either dead or mining not worth it anymore.
I need a final decision and there are two main important points :
Tempreture is important since it goes up to 45C here, air conditioner is on all the time.
Electricity almost free no need to lower wattage.

So it's either
GIGABYTE AORUS
EVGA FE

Please advice
Thank you

I RMAed evga once, totally it took 7~8 business day to get it back. If you choose advanced RMA (you pay for a new card right away and get $ back later), I guess they could send it out the next day after RMA is approved.

Aorus only performs a little little faster, but much cooler/quieter though. Go EVGA FE and save some $.

That's almost two weeks and way too long for me. I'd rather purchase my GPU's from something like the Swedish Webhallen or German Mindfactory. I sent back a broken R9 Fury to Mindfactory a few months ago. I shipped the GPU from Sweden on a Tuesday. I had the new GPU delivered to my door on Friday the same week. They obviously paid for shipping back and forth since it was under warranty.

You will find, under this, all the available 1080 Ti cards, with their Clock speed and Boost Speed.
What would be the hashing difference between a Founder Edition card (1480 MHz / 1582 MHz) and the GALAX GTX 1080 Ti HOF Limited Edition (1645 MHz / 1759 MHz) ?

There's EVGA FTW3 that can go up to 1680 MHZ a fuze protection layer and advanced cooling system.
But you pay $80 for the extra memory boost clock, very interested in this card.
I believe this card can do 1050~1100 sol/s about $16 a day hashing DGB Skein
Do the math here http://whattomine.com/coins/114-dgb-skein?utf8=✓&hr=1100&p=250.0&fee=0.0&cost=0.1&hcost=0.0&commit=Calculate

I have been through 8 different 1080ti's and what i have found out
PNY 1080TI FE - was the worst one on hash rates.
ASUS 1080TI FE - was the best one out of all FE

out of overclocked cards i have zotac 1080ti amp extreme - a very little bit slower than gigabyte aorus xtreme, speed difference is so small i would not even bother, why i got gigabyte is because 4 years warranty(if you register on site) 3 years if you will not. What i dont like about gigabyte - REALLY FAT card, but really quiet. Temperature wise - OC versions are running really hot on full TDP. MSI OC edition is pretty good too, speed-wise very close to gigabyte or zotac.

What i did like about FE with BLOWER FAN cards - VERY VERY TOLERABLE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES! i just have fans 100% kind of noisy, but not too bad. anything under 75% fan speed is barely audible. ASUS 1080TI FE was the best performing card out of all and the most stable. You can put 1 1080ti fe in midtower and will work just fine, cant say that about OC cards - they need to have add-on coolers for sure and BIG case. i could not find any combination of any motherboard/case in my possession that would fit more than 2 gigabyte OC cards, not just because of a temps but because of a SIZES of card. I had tried 3x FE in one hf-x case, worked good, but you still need to keep an eye on your temps and get real good add-on fans or have fan control unit installed with ability to regulate RPM's with increased voltage.

At some point i have assembled a system with 3x1070ti and i think they were pretty good cards for play and or mine, a local gamer bought that computer. Case was COOLERMASTER HF-X - very good case for tri card setup.

My Gigabyte Aorus is a monster - very good cooling AND very high clocks (commonly boosts to over 2000 depending on what I'm doing with it).
Down side is the 3 slot width size.

The Zotac AMP looks good, but I don't own one.
Same 3 slot issue as the Aorus though.

The 1080ti Founder's Edition has been widely reported to not have very good cooling - apparently that "vapor chamber" design isn't as efficient as good heat pipe setups.

have 4 x 1080ti Palit GTX 1080ti jetstream
updated bios for superjetstrim - took me about 10 min, they are working much faster now
but recently bought Zotac GTX 1080ti AMP Extreme - highly recommend, that card is the monster!
it easily is outperfoming Palit

"Factory" Boost Clock" rating is a "we guarentee the card will boost AT LEAST this high" statement, almost all cards will boost quite a bit higher than that in usual usage.
For example, my Gigabyte Aorus (NOT the extreme) was typically boosting to well over 1900 Mhz and sometimes over 2000 depending on what I was testing on it at the time - even at "stock" clock settings.

Very good cards if you have the SPACE for the massive cooling setup.

Asus "Turbo" blower card doesn't boost all that high, and runs quite a bit hotter.
Removing the mounting bracket helps on temps noticeably as it unblocks the primary exhaust some.
This also seems to be the ONLY non-founders edition 1080 ti blower card that DOES NOT PUT A MASSIVE DVI CONNECTOR RIGHT IN THE EXHAUST OF THE CARD BLOCKING HALF OF IT.
Best card for an "in case" setup IMO at this time, but I can't really recommend it for a riser-type setup as there are better options for those (though at it's usual cost, I don't recommend AGAINST it for a riser setup).

Gigabyte "Windforce" models stay fairly cool, but I can no longer recommend them due to the junk fans they use.
I didn't realise Gigabyte had DROPPED usage of ball bearing fans in thelr mid-range models 'till recently - and have had *2* fan deaths in Gigabyte cards in the last 2 weeks, AND an ITX outright CARD death that might be fan-caused overheating caused.

EVGA SC stays fairly cool, but doesn't boost quite as high as the Aorus.
Good solid card and the 8+6 power connection makes it a LOT easier to use several in one rig than the 8+8 many "higher level" cards use.

Hash difference between cards is mostly going to happen at the higher "push them" TDP settings - all of my GTX 1080 ti cards seem to settle into about the SAME hashrate once they get under 70% and they've very close at 80%, in the limited testing I've done so far on all of them.
Temperature is one of the things the card takes into account when deciding how high to push the boost, the higher-end massive cooling cards that eat 2.5-3 slot width cool better so they boost higher at high power levels.

Zotac amp extreme probably the best. However, these cards on top of the list are the fastest if you consider just using the cards out of the box. These cards with lower clocks can be overclocked more and still be stable.
