Title: tailfeather.cc a possible scam
Post by: prospector1 on May 04, 2013, 07:36:22 AM
I was pool mining FTC for 16 hrs at tailfeather.cc, contributed about 2% of shares over 7 blocks found, got paid 7 ftc :(

Beware.

How much is your hash power?
Don't forget that difficulty is increasing at a fast pace.

First of all I would like to apologise for implying scam. My system is 1750 khash/sec, getting only 1.5% stale/rejected for 16hrs, amazing performance for getwork only server I thought.

The tailfeather.cc pool appears to have a very strange RBPPLNS system which has continued to pay out for blocks found many hours after I ceased mining there. Had been paid a total of 7 FTC at the time I ceased mining. Total payout for 16hrs mining now appears to be 19 FTC and I continue to receive more payments. Very hard to understand system.

Switched for 10hrs to a very overloaded stratum server with 10% stale/reject and continual dicsonnects with GPUs idling (server currently reports hash rate 909kh/s :( but have been promptly paid 9FTC.

Now switched to featherpool and will try getwork and see how I do there, oh well, I suppose when 4Ghash of miners suddenly switch pools you can't expect too much :)

Regards

The pool op of this pool is available here too :-)

I absolutely understand your concerns, its really hard to understand at first, was same for me, but that is the only way of protecting a pool from botnets, as botnets have a huge impact on server performance (they're like a (big) ddos for the server infrastructure)
