What should we look out for. Is he asking you to send your account before you receive payment?
Someone wrote me to sell them my account..could be the same person. But he said he would send the money up front, so by definition, it's not a scam if someone is giving you the money before you get the goods. I assume he was trying something different with you though. The other thing is propably this: This guy is looking for old bitcointalk accounts to score some Ripples (XRP). But if you present a trade to someone and send them the money first and they agree to it and they receive the money and you deliver the goods, then no one was "scammed". That is a called a business transaction between consenting adults. It would only be a scam if he bought an older account to do something scammy with on the site. The ripples thing is the most likely answer so not a scam.
