Miners are blocking capacity increases to rack more fees. In order to scale bitcoin run an UASF node or keep dreaming about a consensus to scale bitcoin.

The fees depending on the size of the transaction: the more inputs and outputs the more fee you pay.

Lightning network is the only way to scale bitcoin to mainstream level without having the network exposed to a government attack that could kill the datacenters running the nodes, which is why a conservative block size is a fundamental pillar of bitcoin's long term survival.

It's not trading is sending or transferring.
At first I was thinking about the trading fees on an exchanges but you're just complaining about the tx fee.

Not more than but sometime more than 1amount of what you bought but i guess that was not bad at all because we know the opportunities in trading and we can multiply our bitcoin even it has a sometimes high fees in every trading so no doubt about that and not really a bad thing to do.

All the problems on bitcoin transaction costs are just a moment and will not last long when the block size really goes above 1MB :)

even if block size is raised, what is the assurance that tx will not be spammed to suffocate the new limit? it will be as easy as they spam it right now. high fees is a pain but it will be hard to find the right solution if there will be spammers that will clog the network and transactions.

I pay the average of 480-Satoshi per byte. However, the extent of your fee ultimately depends on the number of inputs and outputs. The general rule is the more inputs and outputs the more fee you pay.

paying fees higher than 400 satoshi per byte is for a 100% guaranteed confirmation in next block.

you can do two things:
- pay a lesser fee. anything above 150-200 satoshi per byte would do.
- learn more about what RBF transactions are and use them.

with 200 s/b you can get a confirmation in next 5 blocks most of the times these days. and it is good if you are not in a hurry.
and RBF should be used in case anything changed and that fee was not enough you increase it to 400 easily and have a confirmation fast.

have been doing this with 200-220 s/b so far without any problems.

It's moving up because the average fee is moving up because a lot of people are trying to get their own transactions through on the blockchain right now, and it's congested because of spam attacks that were never really fully resolved because of lots of people wanting to move their Bitcoin at the same time.
I'm paying something close to what you mentioned, I'd have to go and look at specifics at some point if you want a more accurate answer than just that.

It depends on the amount that you are going to transfer, also depends on your the web wallet that you are using. But mostly of the web wallets does have transaction fees, and this is only natural since we are using their services, that is why I'm wondering why people are complaining about this thing. Yeah, the transaction fee is a little bit unfair especially to those people who are earning just a little bit.

And also because the bitcoin's price is always increasing, that is why we are always thinking that the transaction fee is also getting higher, the bitcoin's price do gets higher not the transaction fees.

all wrong.
how much fee you pay doesn't have anything to do with how much you are transferring. in bitcoin you pay for the size of your transaction in bytes. if it is normal and about 226 bytes then you pay less and if it is big for example 10,000 bytes you pay more.
also web wallets are two kinds:
- blockchain.info like wallet which you have the private keys, in which case there is nothing different about fees. you pay the network fee.
- coinbase like wallets which you don't have the private keys. and they do take fees now and it depends on how much they feel like is appropriate.

Fee of Sat 500/B? That is insane. I have never paid that much fees, ever since I started collecting Bitcoins. The maximum that I have paid is somewhere around 300 Sat/B. But normally, I pay only around 100 Sat/B and sometimes even less. It is not viable to pay a fee of BTC0.0005 on a transaction worth just BTC0.001.

This is really true , in the beginning when I entered in the Bitcoin then I seen that the fee we needed to confirm the transaction needed to about 25 or even less sat/byte but now it is 200+ times more fee ( which is minimum) that we needed to confirm the transaction .
So here the Bitcoin is the way of the making money for the millionaires only because here we can't make profit in the Bitcoin trading because  if in a deal we are getting the profit of 2-3 $ then we needed to pay the fee 4-5$ that is not fair , our earning goes down to 75%+ in the Bitcoin trading .So here in my opinion we should use another altcoin for the payment purpose with Bitcoin , so that we can make some more profit for our living life .

Bitcoin started out with only a few users and the code in the Bitcoin protocol was configured to handle that load. The idea was to increase it's capacity as the network of users grow. The parameter that was used in the code to increase the capacity is commonly called the Block size. < Increasing the Block size will increase the amount of transactions it will be able to handle > The Core developers saw some risks in increasing the Block sizes only, so they written some new code to address the "scaling issue" without having to increase the Block sizes.

The new code <SegWit & Lighting Network> will allow for aggressive scaling, with less impact and risk to the network.

Then some other developers decided that SegWit & Lighting Network is not the route to go, and they suggested a counter proposal, called Bitcoin Unlimited.

Bitcoin can only implement something new, if the majority consensus are reached. The users & miners will now have to decide, what option they will choose for all of us to solve the scaling issue. The first progress will start on the 1 Aug 2017, so look out for that. ^smile^

Why use a huge fee for this transaction ??? I only spend 100-200 sat/byte and will get confirm after 5 blocks, I think you need change your setting fee if you not want lost more money :)

Yes its true that the fee for microtransactions, nowadays is really high, its a pain in the ass to buy things thay cost $5-$10 cuz we have to pay $2 in fee. This needs to change and there will be a solution soon enough, just hold tight.

I am paying around 100 to 200 satoshi based on urgency or priority of fund transfer some time i use max 200 satoshi per byte i think its fare till last two week back recently i dint do any transaction from last 2 weeks couple of days and also i suspect Miners  blocking capacity increases for getting more fees. I think the present move not good for bitcoin

I'm paying about .0008 per transaction. and thats the lowest fee. and its painful like wtf. i just send .002 and my fee is that. The more bitcoin raise more user will come also so means its hard to mine because there are more user than miner that's cause of slow transaction and higher fee. i wish there will be opportunity for mining.

When you say Bitcoin trwdin you actually should mean the exchange and the fee is 0.2 % normally. You talking about the fee to transact Bitcoin from one address to the other. That's not what the title means though.

I use 0.001 BTC normally and I think that's white enough. $2.5 seems plenty. I won't go more then 0.0015 some exchanged force you to do 0.0015 so that is max for me.

Bitcoin is a store of value to me, savings, an asset if you like. Paying higher than recommended fees doesn't bother me. I pay higher than average every single time, I don't want to be hanging around for ages waiting for confirmation.

I understand why people get annoyed waiting if they're using bitcoin as a currency to buy things though.

You're sending transactions worth 6$?
Funny how there are people still doing this.

Also , it doesn't matter how many miners are there. They can be two or two millions 1GH or 1PH the number of blocks and the amount of tx that fit in them will be the same.

you must make a difference between bitcoin fee for trading which is less than 1% on exchange, and fee paid for sending bitcoin, you are confusing the two here, be precise please, for transaction of bitcoin, you need to pay 74k satoshi for 226 byte of transaction now, which is expensive, but better than before

Bitcoin had no agenda.
Bitcoin is not a socialist tool to help the poor or help with the wealth differences and redistribution.

Bitcoin only follows the rules of a free market and offer/demand.

As for the fees probably we will have a solution soon with segwit.

Insane to pay this much, but if you're going to be doing something that's time sensitive you're going to want it done within the next block which already takes some time in itself. So, people are going to pay for a lack of patience or inability to be patient at that time for some other reason.

I usually pay whatever the recommended is on one of those bitcoin fee estimator sites and just go with that, it usually seems to work rather quickly. Though, if I'm doing something that isn't time sensitive I'll pay as low as I can to still get it confirmed though it'll just be waiting for like 3-6 blocks.

Here's the site I use btw to estimate fees - https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

There was no agenda behind Bitcoin aside from offering people a way to secure their wealth outside of the main fiat systems following the collapse of the global economy back in late 2008. If there was some other motive for Bitcoin there's a high chance it would have been exploited by now and we would have a more than vague speculation as to what it could be.

In my own experience of fees I have transfer my bitcoin from coins.ph to livecoin.net and the fee is 2% fix in every transactions.

Right now, the standard fees for median transactions in coins.ph cost around $2 but still free if the transaction is within their accounts. Still lower compare to other web wallets that cost even close to $5 and much costable if high priority will be chosen.

I had a bad experience with fees. I wanted to buy 0.01 BTC and with all the fees they charged me, I ended up with 0.007  >:(

You deal with the buying rate of the exchange where you purchase your bitcoin. It's not the common transaction fees when sending bitcoins to another.

Yet another whining cry baby here to complain about high fees, if we all stop paying any fee above 120sats/b then who is going to refuse? oh of course miners could ignore our low fee transactions, so this is not fixable because when miners have the ability to ignore them, we have no other choice than paying the highest fees possible. this is the system now so you should first think about these stuff then invest or use it.

First of all, I must say that I am not a frequent trader. I have done a few LTC/BTC and BTC/ETH trades, and that is it. I use BTC-e for my crypto-trading and the fees are quite low (0.2%). The withdrawal fee is also within the limits, and they didn't increased the withdrawal fee unlike the other exchanges during last month (I have only tried BTC withdrawal, and no fiat withdrawal).

I'm paying very low fees recently, it looks like some mining pools are coming back to the reality after seeing other coins increase in value.

They have sensed the danger that they are facing, though not all the pools were bad and greedy but most of them didn't turn down the high fees.

Hopefully they keep including low fees transactions constantly and we'll see how ETH will be dumped and Bitcoin rises above $3000 this time.

You always have to pay a mining fee if that's what you're asking about
