It is not legit. The method involves going to a "shut"-less site for the jpg of the image without watermarks (or that's one of the methods, this could be different but same context). As said, completely free by searching, and the only way you are going to get a legit method that does not go against Shutterstock's TOS is to become a member and pay for the images.

This method won't give you vectors nor files above 1000x resolution.
It's "bug" used on facebook; facebook is partnered with shutterstock. Therefore while making ads you'll get the option to use photos from shutter. Since fb have access to their library you'll see photos without watermarks.
There are bots doing this for you.

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/J2TeaM.pro/
2. Write message "shutter" or "shutterstock". You'll receive response in Vietnamese.
3. Send a link to pic you want.
4. You'll receive download link.

There. You just save yourself 5$ for method available for free.

It was free, and can be found easily on reddit thread anyway. But like the facebook ads method, this will only download 1000px image in width.

I used Shutterstock images for Facebook ads many times, but I never thought to get the images for free.
I will test to see if it is possible to get any image or just those which Shutterstock allow.

I appreciate having this method in my custody and your comment really shows that this is what you are trying to sell, i do not like the source or way that i got the method but at least i can make use of it.

I think giving out vouch copy could be helpful and stop people from digging deeper into other people's business.

It's obvious that you can not use the images for a serious project unless you have a Shutterstock license.
This method allows you to access those images but does not give you the right to use them.

This method is no longer working, but in the meantime new ones have emerged that can be used.

Note that the maximum size at which you can download these images is 1000/1000 pixels.
