Title: What would be the best mining card as of today? RX580/570/480/470 excluded
Post by: Qbol on June 06, 2017, 06:53:29 AM
Guys,
I'm waiting over a month now for my RX 580 supply and there is still no hope to get even one. Can't wait any longer so I'm wondering - what would be the best replacement that would be able to give me best hash rate on eth with best price possible?

Use nvidia GPU as alternative. speed reduce a bit but still can mine. amd gpu currently short of stock and don't know when
will get stock. in my country, they are no stock even deal with distributor. Pre order taking lot of time and no confirmation on
ETA for them to arrive. Only say on July/August but no exact date. While wait to pre-order mining with nvidia gpu is better
options then waiting for nothing....

Too many bests in that one question :D Get a GTX 1060, will give you about 23mh/s for about 70W at the wall. Much better power efficiency, but lower price/hash than AMD.

If you want to mine ETH, you can use AMD Sapphire RX480 Nitro 8GB or NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB. Depends completely on your price for electricity in your region. Rx470s will be much more cost effective i guess.
But it totally depends on your electricity cost in your region.
I dont know much more, i shared the information know to me.
You can correct me

Thanks guys, I was thinking about MSI GTX 1060 GAMING X PLUS  and I'll go with it for now.
Maybe a silly question: would it be possible to make one rig containing both AMD and Nvidia cards at the same time? Like 3x 1060 and 3x rx580?

I would suggest to use: http://mylifegadgets.com/ASUSROGSTRIX-RX580 they are getting without bios modding 27mh/s.
But also Nvidia is getting pretty well so: http://mylifegadgets.com/GTX1070 or http://mylifegadgets.com/GTX1080TI using zcash or skein.

Pics or it didn't happen.
My Strixes 580 on stock gives 22,6-22,8 MH/s.
All of them.

Author, at current price, RX 560 are great too, no additional 6-8 pin to GPU, 130$ cost, around 15 mh/s with bios moded, 50W at the wall, consumption.

GTX 1060, 1070 are great too, however they are more expensive. If it's your first rigs, I would build 3 x 3 RX 560 rigs rather than 1 x 3 GTX 1060.

Good luck mate.

That is not what he said. He said without bios modding, he did not say he didn't OC them. :)

why not nvidia, is very good now to main certain algo, with nvidia, like x17 with verge, amd i don't know how good is on x17, but amd has not a good dev with open source miner for many algo, it's all about private miner

nvidia is not good on ETH, the 1070 is still good on ETH but better to mine somethign else, amd is better there

Yes, you can run Nvidia and AMD cards on the same rig. I just added a MSI 1080 Gaming X to my RX 480 rig. The Nvidia cards are also easier to setup, just install the latest driver and it runs out of the box. No bios patches, driver patches or hard system crashes like with the AMD drivers.

Sgminer was just abut the only miner that was used back in 2014. It could mine 99% of the coins back at that time. It's open source and only for AMD. I remember the private miners started back then. I beleive Claymore's Monero miner was the first with a built in fee. That's also around the time when the first miners foir Nvidia cards came out.

Hi Qbol,

even though the daggerhasimoto hashrates arenīt the best,
Iīd recommend some GTX-1060-6 instead, because they are much more efficient:

https://playground.aic-consult.de/pics/ming/150B1060.JPG

... trimmed down to 230W at wall (about 570 SOL equihash).

 :D

P.S. I do not recommend mixing different cards (architectures) in one RIG

I agree with you regarding the shortage of stocks for AMD cards. Nvidia cards are available and even costs lesser than AMD. I too feel it is good  to purchase gtx 1060 6gb  for mining.
