Title: CoinFest 2018
Post by: The Bitcoin Co-op on June 06, 2017, 09:49:23 AM
In keeping with tradition, CoinFest 2018 will be held on the first full week (Monday-Sunday) of April, which is April 2-8. We still need to update the CoinFest 2018 page (http://www.coinfest.org/coinfest-2018/)... let us know if you want to organize a CoinFest in your city so we can add it to the map. Supporting organizations and sponsors on the Homepage (http://www.coinfest.org/) will soon be reset, so anybody who wants to sponsor us this year should please reach out, as well.

While everyone waits for updates about that, check out our Previous Events (http://www.coinfest.org/previous-events/) page, which now shows all the cool stuff we did at this year's CoinFest. Also, we've successfully created our new 3-of-6 multisignature wallet and transferred to it all remaining funds from the old one... we now have over $3000 worth of BTC already in store, as the updated Transparency page (http://www.coinfest.org/transparency/) now shows. :)

The first global sponsor of CoinFest 2018 is TurnKey Linux (https://www.turnkeylinux.org/blog/introducing-bitkey), the producers of BitKey (bitkey.io). They're not really a profitable enterprise--it's open source software meant to support the crypto development community--so major respect to them for wanting to help fund our endeavors. True soldiers of Satoshi!

Coinfest.org (http://www.coinfest.org) is now being updated. Other news includes a poll on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/CoinFestGlobal/permalink/1901128470138905/) about what to do with our Bitcoin Cash, if we can access it... Roger Ver is losing :P

Hey,

We were discussing the http://forum.coinfest.org site, you can join and I'll authorise your account in you confirming your username via PM here.

The Forum needs lots of updates from the CoinFest teams - just time jumping in the way !

We made lots of headway at the first team meeting for CoinFest Vancouver 2018. One of the things we decided was that it would be efficient to set up a Slack with channels for each participating city and a global one to coordinate them all more effectively. Here is the link to join: https://join.slack.com/t/coinfest/shared_invite/enQtMjU2NzU4MzA4MjI5LTkxNGVkNzE2NjI4MzNmZjU1ZGNjN2FmNGQ4ZjdkNDU4NTI3YzRjODQ0YmU1M2NiYjc3MjIyNWE2NzZjNGNmNmM

Now that someone has gone ahead and sent us a Bitcoin Cash donation unannounced--and since we already had at least 1.6 to start with from the fork--we've decided to integrate BCH with the Transparency System. Check out the snazzy new transparency page! http://www.coinfest.org/transparency/

Each local CoinFest has its own registration policy, but all events are free to attend, so often it may just be come-as-you-want. Which city were you thinking of visiting?

I will be States side at that time, so I am definitely looking forward to participating. Living in Asian for the last 10 years has left me with no idea how the crypto world is developing out side of Asia. Really look forward to joining this even!!

CoinFest's educate people about cryptocurrency while incentivizing their adoption. They are also fun. It is very active in the Netherlands, with events usually occurring in Amsterdam and Arnhem.

Where in the United States will you be? It's not one of the most active countries for CoinFest participation, but it's been known to occur in Washington DC, California and the Midwest.
