Title: Hello. New here.
Post by: BullCreek on June 06, 2017, 01:47:10 PM
So I got ito BTC around jan 2012.

I unfortunately lost all my coins in a HDD failure.

I then got into altcoins and ran with that for a year. I stopped it all together and completely forgot about coins until this resurgence.
Is this a continued rally for behind the scenes works soon to be unveiled?

This is a bubble but it is not done growing. While it is true that crypto is becoming more valuable, the price is not reflecting that appropriately. The price has nearly tripled in 3 months but the value of Bitcoin is rising at a moderate and steady rate. This is a buying mania that will be followed by a selling mania. That being said, it still has room to rise before turning around.

What do you mean by behind the scenes work you are talking about,if you could care to explain what you are trying to tell here, there has being a huge bubble in the market and so is the reason we are seeing most of the alt coins are touching near the all time high for quite some time and we have more investors in all these coins,if you had HDD failure you should have spend some dime to recover the coins. :P anyone would do that if it was worth the time .

Hi.. good-luck with your coins. It's rough to lose coins the way you did.

I can assure you that this is not a scam.
No you cannot assure anyone of that.  Most coins are designed solely to make their developers money, and no one else.  That may or may not be strictly a scam, but OP here should probably be made aware of the fact I just stated.  There has yet to be a coin come to market that offers much advantage over bitcoin, and these ones that got created within the last year?  Yeah, they offer nothing new over litecoin, doge, dash, eth, and lisk.  Everything worth owning has been on the market for more than a year.

Are you sure you've exhausted every conceivable option with your dead HDD? Once you take it to a professional level they can do stuff no one else can.

Agreed, i would go to the ends to recover that thing... if you invested in 2012 you for sure have more than 1 btc ... lol ... at that time there was pretty good mining rate too, so i really suppose it is worth fighting for.... but im sure you've tried

What's asinine?  I lost the coins?  I mean they are probably still on that platter. But I have bigger issues to worrry about other than the possibility of my dead harddrive having a few a bit coin.  I have always said they were dead me once the drive died.  I didnt pay anything for them, so no loss to me.

If you're referring to my naivety of the current price, excuse me. I have been out of the loop quite a while.  But from what I have found it seems the price is currently soaring in anticipation of BIP148/Segwit.  Segwit does not seem to be happening unfortunately. Could really save the coin.   I personally hope for a split if they were going to be running BIP148.  So it's basically a rally and no one knows why, just is.

I too had 3/4 of my holding taken by the likes of MTGOX, Cryptsy. Luckily I transferred a few of my coins back then into things like doge and reddcoin.

The learning curve on this technology if you didnt start at the beginning like a lot of the people with big holdings, basically running the game, then you're kind of stuck behind learning and trying to figure out wtf all this is.

The larger market will pick up Ethereum not Bitcoin if they dont go Segwit.

Do not pin your hopes on Ethereum, because people will soon realize they bought into a bunch of hype and they were buying air in a empty bag. You are saying you lost nothing, because you did not pay for it, but you are still throwing away money. I would take this drive to someone for data recovery and try to retrieve some of those bitcoins.

Doge & reddcoin is a lost cause, so I would not invest further into that. ^sell^

I guess yes, you can say something are happening behind the scenes (or at least it is believed there are), but most of it is out in the open. The "works" you're referring to can be the scaling proposals that have been discussed for quite long, and that seems to be somewhat driving prices.

If you keep on posting off topic post your time here will not be fun. Your account will be banned and your income will dry up.  ;) OK, back to

OP's question --> Yes, I think this rally will continue for some time... We have only seen the start of this rally, because Japan has been one of the

first countries that officially announced that they accept Bitcoin as a payment method/currency. Once other countries catch onto this and they do

the same, we will see much higher prices.  ;D

This, will end eventually. Not sure how long this charging bull market will continue on, we just tested 3k and we are hovering, if we continue to advance expect 4k, some retraction, then 5k.

And yes, politics and technology might up end the price, research the scaling debate (alot has happened depending on how long you have been gone)

And welcome back ;)

Certainly, bitcoin is not a scam.it is truely a life changing aspect.I feel that i am very much blessed to be familiar with bitcoin while most of the people around the world have not yet. Those who are working with bitcoins have invested their time in the correct place and they would definitely reap the benefits soon.

If possible do everything you can to recover the data in that hardrive since you could have a fortune in there, at the moment all the markets have gone up for some time, so I do not know if it is a good time to buy any altcoin at the moment

Welcome on board.

Try to make an image of your HDD and then try to recover the files of the HDD.

True and sad story, bro.

Unless you completely destroyed your HDD, there is a good chance to recover information from it. Just ask professionals

About the rally: it is legit, has a ton of supporting facts behind it. Yet you can't get 1000x of your investment, as you would holding your coins from 2012, it is still a great area to invest in.

In the longterm BTC will definitely continue to grow. The more countries accept it as a digital currency, the more people use iт day-to-day operations - the higher will be the value.
