Segwit is being currently supported by most of the people. It holds around 90% of the support from the bitcoin community as BIP91 has recently joined hands with Segwit. Yet it is not guaranteed that the fork will not happen as nobody can predict the future accurately. If the fork does happen then the chain will split and there will be two bitcoins and it will have to choose which chain they are going to follow.
